2. Before class cut up some sheets of tissue paper. (I use standard gift
wrapping tissue paper. I’ve found the best value and variety of colors
at a craft store. I fold and cut to desired size(s). Here I have cut two
sizes. The larger size is 6.5 inches x 10 inches. The smaller size is 5
inches x 6.5 inches.)

3. You will also need some chenille wire, green preferred. I use them at
their full length, which is about 12 inches long. You may cut them in
half to make them go further, but your stems will be shorter. The
packet shown here has various colors, but you can often find a pack
containing only green at a craft store.

The following slides contain instructions
for making one flower. You can practice
ahead of time and then demonstrate to
your class, and/or show your students the
slides and have them follow along.
4. For each flower, choose about
12 sheets in the colors of your
choice. Some interesting
combinations are 4 sheets of
one color, 4 of another, and
then 4 of the first color again.
Or 4 different colors laid one
on top of the other; then
repeat the pattern 3 times.
Varieties are endless.
After choosing and stacking
colors, begin to accordion fold
the stack, starting from one of
the shorter sides.

8. After you are finished
accordion folding, fold
the stack in half to find
the middle and then
wrap the chenille wire
around the middle,
leaving a long stem.

9. Fold part of the chenille wire over
the stack.
Twist the wire to secure the stack
to the “stem.”

10. Now begin to pull up each layer of tissue paper individually.

17. Add craft butterflies or other embellishments as desired.
Twist the stems of several tissue paper flowers together to
make a beautiful bouquet.

18. My daughter made me this bouquet for Mother’s Day. As I take this
photo, it is nearly a year old and still colorful and beautiful.
