20th Century Fox is an American film studio, distributor, and one of the six major film studios. It was founded in 1915 by William Fox in New York City and is now located in Los Angeles. The studio began with a small theater but grew to include 25 theaters in New York City and a movie production business. After moving to Los Angeles in 1915, Fox helped shape early Hollywood by developing some of the first movie stars and pioneering the use of sound in films. The studio merged with Twentieth Century Pictures in 1933 and became known as 20th Century Fox. Today, 20th Century Fox produces 16-20 films per year across a wide range of genres and with big-name actors.
