An IP Address in an identifier for just one
certain computer or other device that use
the internet. They are used by directing
message to that IP. They are made up of
four different numbers between 0 – 255,
separated by full stops.
3. What is Packet Switching?
Packet Switching is basically a method of transferring things over a network. It
breaks data up into smaller packets and sends them through routers that pick up
the signal and pass it on. They get a Header stating which IP it needs to be sent to
and off it goes. When it arrives at its destination it is reassembled in a way and can
then be accessed.
4. What is a Router?
A Router is a small device that helps to pass on information or data packets. When
it receives a Packet it has to look for where it has to go through the lines it has
already established, then puts it down the quickest and least busiest route. This
could give it its name as it routes the packets.
