Introduction
This paper will use five jazz music title compositions from the
WGUC radio station which will be described through music
journals. The titles of the music will be researched to determine
whether it is newly composed or whether it is a standard jazz
tune. The artist or group of artists for the songs will be
researched and then placed into the most appropriate classical,
contemporary or historical context. The composition will be
evaluated to find out the instrumentals as well as the way
human timbres are used and the manner in which they interact.
The jazz type or genre which most effectively fits the
composition will also be identified. The five compositions that
will be focused on include the Wolf gang Amadeus Mozart:
Horn Quintet, Paul Creston’s partita for violin, flute and
strings, Antonio Vivaldi concert performance on #6 in a minor
for violin as well as the Kegelstatt trio performances. It will
also include William Grant ’still lyric quartet.
Peter Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet
Date: 01/9/2017
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – Daniele Gatti
Genre: Classical
Style: Romantic
Country: Europe
Released: 2004
Label: Harmonia Mundi USA
This work Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 and Romeo and Juliet
is a masterpiece that is often overplayed even when the
marketplace has several recordings of similar genres. The
original dynamics and tempi for Tchaikovsky have been ignored
for a long time, and therefore their restoration has been
dramatically presented in a different view (Goto, et al. 2002).
The fast tempo makes the real difference in this composition as
the symphony has a clear trajectory. Romeo and Juliet is a more
combative composition performed without the normal languid
pacing. However, the speed of the performance is possibly less
interesting when compared to the dynamic work benefit.
Most fans of Tchaikovsky had accused of him of jumping the
shark before Romeo and Juliet were started. This was mainly
because his outside bravado depicted nothing concerning his
habits that may be getting some tired. However, his music is
very thrilling as ever. From a personal perspective,
contemporary music has not really changed view towards this
composition.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Horn Quintet
Date: 17/8/2017
Genre: Concerto
Style: Classical period
Composed: 1786
This is a classical work was divided into three major movements
which include the Rondo also known as Allegro vivace, Allegro
moderato, and Romance which is the Andante cantabile.
Initially, the manuscript which was written in green, red, black
ink and blue was seen as a jocular trial to crash with the
projected performer who was Joseph Leutgeb, the friend to
Mozart. However, it was said recently that the rainbow score
might represent a type of color code.
The program was a shrewd composition that was put together in
the eighties. It includes four major works that are not overly
heard (Goto, et al. 2002). All the four compositions, in my
opinion, are masterpieces. The viola, clarinet and piano trio in
E-flat K is a comprehensively intimate as well as congenial
work that was quite unconventional and written for Mozart
friends as well as the family of the flutist Nikolaus Von Jaquin
Joseph. The work was performed by the daughter of Nikolaus
Von Jaquin Joseph who was an outstanding pianist judging from
the performance. She first performed it with Mozart on viola
along with the great Anton Stadler on the clarinet for whom the
clarinet concerto and clarinet Quintet, K. 581 was written.
There is an unusual sequence of movement when comparing the
Rondeaux and the Andante, Menuetto.
The 6/8 Andante is described as warm, concise and relaxed
without repeats. The main theme uses a turn or grupetto
throughout. Also, the minuet stats by using a sharp dynamic
contrast theme as well as a pounding bass line feature with
contrapuntal development. The trio also employs a chromatic
four-note phrase that reappears in different forms. The final
movement includes the 2/2 time rondo in seven sections referred
to as ABACADA, where theme A represents singing melodies
that are drawn from the first movement and end with the
significant flair in a functioning and sound coda.
The trio was written by Mozart on ten sheets in a place known
as Vienna which was dated 5th august 1786. According to a 17-
year-old student at the time known as Karoline Pichler, the
Mozart manuscript was dedicated to Franziska Jacquin who was
also a student during this period. Mozart along with the family
of Jacquin was very close friends, and they often performed
house concerts together where Franziska played the piano and
Nikolaus played the flute. Mozart praised the studiousness as
well as the great diligence shown by Franiska in a considerable
number of performances to the Jacquin family more especially
the trio. Their strong friendship was further shown when after a
year he wrote two songs for the major purpose of Gottfried that
were used under his name.
Antonio Vivaldi: Concerto for Violin in A Minor
Date: 10/9/2017
Styles: Concerto
Recording Date: September, 2014 - October, 2014
Label: DG
Genre: classical
Performer: Antonio Vivaldi
Avi Vivaldi presents a lively program which includes a popular
violin Concerto in A minor and Mandolin concerto in C major.
He is popular for the virtuoso technique, expressive subtlety,
and intellectual clarity and for expanding the mandolin
repertoire through the adoption of the work of Bach for his
albums (Martin, 1972).
The artist Avi Avital brings the mandolin home to Antonio
Vivaldi music which is the beloved Mandolin composer whose
concerto is part of the Old Testament cornerstone. The
composition is immediate, bold as well as personal. The
composer's sense of dynamic contrast employs a different
plectrum for every part of the music. The tempo in the music
cannot be described in strict intervals but remains dynamic as
volume subjected to the flow of melodic architecture.
According to the manuscript, it is noted that the clarinet as part
of the clarinetto in B which uses the written pitch. The viola
section uses the C-clef in the alto position. The piano section
labeling demonstrates a correction by Mozart where he initially
writes the Ce which represents the Cembalo. This is the Italian
word for harpsichord that is used in place of piano forte.
However, this section is known as Cembalo for both the second
and third movements. The major signature of E-flat major in the
late chamber of Mozart chamber is used to depict close
friendship. The trio comprises of three movements which
include andante, Rondeaux as well as allegretto.
Kegelstatt trio E-flat major performance by Mozart
Styles: Concerto
Published date: 1788
Genre: classical
The kegelstatt trio by Mozart involved playing E-flat major for
the piano, viola. K and the clarinet earned the name from the
weekly parties that were performed by Mozart along with his
three friends Franziska von Jacquin and Gottfried where they
would have discussions, play games and make music. Similarly,
Mozart wrote several music pieces which were to be performed
at the Jacquin house especially for Franziska who was Mozart’s
student.
Artaria published the Trio in 1788 with the consent of Mozart
for the violin, piano, and viola. The original section of the
clarinet was described in the alternative section. Because of
unusual scoring, this piece was at times adapted to be suitable
for the other kinds of trios such as the clarinet-violin-piano trio,
the violin-cello-piano trio, the violin-viola-piano trio in
accordance with the Artaria publication. Due to the unusual
scoring, sometimes the piece is further adapted to fit different
performances, and before Mozart, there was no composer who
had written for this instrument combination during the 19th
century.
Andante
Piano concerto No.3 in E-flat
Composer: Sergei Taneyev
Genre: classical
This movement does not use the contemporary allegro as the
opening movement but through using a more contemplative
andante. Preceding this is the second movement which is not the
traditional slow movement but a moderate shift. While the last
movement is lively, it cannot be classified as standard allegro.
Therefore, the differences in this trio cannot be as stark as in
most of the classical sonatas.
The time signature of 6/8 is used to write the Andante and
comprises of 129 bars. A typical performance of Andante would
last for more than six minutes. This movement does not repeat
the exposition nor the movement remainder, and this is often
unusual for the mature Mozart chamber music. The most
recognizable feature of this principal movement theme is the
gruppert movement that appears throughout.
Conclusion
The emergence of popular culture has hit people in a variety of
ways, by either driving them towards a particular trend or
inculcating a feeling of dislike towards other popular culture
trends. Given that there are many categories of popular culture,
it is only right to assume that one will bear a strong attraction
to a given set of things related to popular culture, while at the
same time shun other trends they deem unconventional.

Exercise 3
Now that we have the data in an array, we can calculate the
statistics. Add the possibility of an optional fourth token on a
line, found only in readings with precipitation, containing the
duration of precipitation. This will be given in the format 1:43
where 1 is the number of hours and 43 is the number of minutes
(may be one or two digits). The : may be omitted, meaning the
value is just the number of hours (zero minutes), or the number
of hours may be omitted. For example:-10,3NW,15cm,4:38
5,15SW,8mm,2:8
8,8ENE,2mm,:25
-5,0,7cm,1
-3,0,3mm
Download the complete Weather Station program and add the
following features to it:Add hours and minutes instance
variables to the Reading class. Zero values for both indicate no
data (or no precipitation).Add the code to the main program to
parse the extra data on the line. Hint: once you have split the
CSV line into tokens, you may want to take the fourth token (if
it exists) and split it according to the position of the :.Make
sure you deal with the same situations as the original program:
neither duration values can be negative, and use trim() to
remove excess whitespace.
Submit your complete modified program by the due date
specified in the course schedule. Add a comment to the top of
the program indicating whether you think it works in all cases
described above, or if there are some it has trouble processing
(and why).
COMP 1020
Exercise 2
The program works well, but it makes some assumptions about
the way movie ratings are stored. All the ratings have to be in
the same scale (e.g. in this example, they are all out of 10), but
often reviews use different scales (stars out of 5, percentages
out of 100). Change the program to allow the program to use
different scales, but keep the final results as numbers out of 10.
The range of the scale will be added as an extra input line for
each movie. For example:Casablanca
8.7
10.0
Toy Story
8.1
10.0
Star Wars Episode IV
88.0
100.0
Toy Story
4.0
5.0
The first two ratings are out of 10 as before, but the third is 88
out of 100, and the last rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
Download the complete Movie Reviews program and add the
following features to it:Read three lines for each movie instead
of two. Start out by just printing the data from the extra
line.Convert the third line into a double (outOf) and scale the
rating by dividing it by outOf and multiplying the result by 10.
Use this as the movie's rating out of 10 when creating or
modifying a review.
Note that the conversion of this value should also occur
inside the nested "try" block. Since the error message in the
"catch" may apply to an invalid rating or an invalid outOf
value, change it appropriately.
Submit only the complete file input try-catch block (and not the
rest of the main program, or any other methods or classes) by
the due date specified in the course schedule.

  • 1. hou1 2 Zhengke Hou (Olivia) Dr. Sarah Herbert MUS 135-H 10/11/2017 Introduction This paper will use five jazz music title compositions from the WGUC radio station which will be described through music journals. The titles of the music will be researched to determine whether it is newly composed or whether it is a standard jazz tune. The artist or group of artists for the songs will be researched and then placed into the most appropriate classical, contemporary or historical context. The composition will be evaluated to find out the instrumentals as well as the way human timbres are used and the manner in which they interact. The jazz type or genre which most effectively fits the composition will also be identified. The five compositions that will be focused on include the Wolf gang Amadeus Mozart: Horn Quintet, Paul Creston’s partita for violin, flute and strings, Antonio Vivaldi concert performance on #6 in a minor for violin as well as the Kegelstatt trio performances. It will also include William Grant ’still lyric quartet. Peter Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet
  • 2. Date: 01/9/2017 Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – Daniele Gatti Genre: Classical Style: Romantic Country: Europe Released: 2004 Label: Harmonia Mundi USA This work Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 and Romeo and Juliet is a masterpiece that is often overplayed even when the marketplace has several recordings of similar genres. The original dynamics and tempi for Tchaikovsky have been ignored for a long time, and therefore their restoration has been dramatically presented in a different view (Goto, et al. 2002). The fast tempo makes the real difference in this composition as the symphony has a clear trajectory. Romeo and Juliet is a more combative composition performed without the normal languid pacing. However, the speed of the performance is possibly less interesting when compared to the dynamic work benefit. Most fans of Tchaikovsky had accused of him of jumping the shark before Romeo and Juliet were started. This was mainly because his outside bravado depicted nothing concerning his habits that may be getting some tired. However, his music is very thrilling as ever. From a personal perspective, contemporary music has not really changed view towards this composition. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Horn Quintet
  • 3. Date: 17/8/2017 Genre: Concerto Style: Classical period Composed: 1786 This is a classical work was divided into three major movements which include the Rondo also known as Allegro vivace, Allegro moderato, and Romance which is the Andante cantabile. Initially, the manuscript which was written in green, red, black ink and blue was seen as a jocular trial to crash with the projected performer who was Joseph Leutgeb, the friend to Mozart. However, it was said recently that the rainbow score might represent a type of color code. The program was a shrewd composition that was put together in the eighties. It includes four major works that are not overly heard (Goto, et al. 2002). All the four compositions, in my opinion, are masterpieces. The viola, clarinet and piano trio in E-flat K is a comprehensively intimate as well as congenial work that was quite unconventional and written for Mozart friends as well as the family of the flutist Nikolaus Von Jaquin Joseph. The work was performed by the daughter of Nikolaus Von Jaquin Joseph who was an outstanding pianist judging from the performance. She first performed it with Mozart on viola along with the great Anton Stadler on the clarinet for whom the clarinet concerto and clarinet Quintet, K. 581 was written. There is an unusual sequence of movement when comparing the Rondeaux and the Andante, Menuetto. The 6/8 Andante is described as warm, concise and relaxed without repeats. The main theme uses a turn or grupetto throughout. Also, the minuet stats by using a sharp dynamic
  • 4. contrast theme as well as a pounding bass line feature with contrapuntal development. The trio also employs a chromatic four-note phrase that reappears in different forms. The final movement includes the 2/2 time rondo in seven sections referred to as ABACADA, where theme A represents singing melodies that are drawn from the first movement and end with the significant flair in a functioning and sound coda. The trio was written by Mozart on ten sheets in a place known as Vienna which was dated 5th august 1786. According to a 17- year-old student at the time known as Karoline Pichler, the Mozart manuscript was dedicated to Franziska Jacquin who was also a student during this period. Mozart along with the family of Jacquin was very close friends, and they often performed house concerts together where Franziska played the piano and Nikolaus played the flute. Mozart praised the studiousness as well as the great diligence shown by Franiska in a considerable number of performances to the Jacquin family more especially the trio. Their strong friendship was further shown when after a year he wrote two songs for the major purpose of Gottfried that were used under his name. Antonio Vivaldi: Concerto for Violin in A Minor Date: 10/9/2017 Styles: Concerto Recording Date: September, 2014 - October, 2014 Label: DG Genre: classical Performer: Antonio Vivaldi Avi Vivaldi presents a lively program which includes a popular violin Concerto in A minor and Mandolin concerto in C major. He is popular for the virtuoso technique, expressive subtlety, and intellectual clarity and for expanding the mandolin
  • 5. repertoire through the adoption of the work of Bach for his albums (Martin, 1972). The artist Avi Avital brings the mandolin home to Antonio Vivaldi music which is the beloved Mandolin composer whose concerto is part of the Old Testament cornerstone. The composition is immediate, bold as well as personal. The composer's sense of dynamic contrast employs a different plectrum for every part of the music. The tempo in the music cannot be described in strict intervals but remains dynamic as volume subjected to the flow of melodic architecture. According to the manuscript, it is noted that the clarinet as part of the clarinetto in B which uses the written pitch. The viola section uses the C-clef in the alto position. The piano section labeling demonstrates a correction by Mozart where he initially writes the Ce which represents the Cembalo. This is the Italian word for harpsichord that is used in place of piano forte. However, this section is known as Cembalo for both the second and third movements. The major signature of E-flat major in the late chamber of Mozart chamber is used to depict close friendship. The trio comprises of three movements which include andante, Rondeaux as well as allegretto. Kegelstatt trio E-flat major performance by Mozart Styles: Concerto Published date: 1788 Genre: classical The kegelstatt trio by Mozart involved playing E-flat major for the piano, viola. K and the clarinet earned the name from the weekly parties that were performed by Mozart along with his three friends Franziska von Jacquin and Gottfried where they would have discussions, play games and make music. Similarly,
  • 6. Mozart wrote several music pieces which were to be performed at the Jacquin house especially for Franziska who was Mozart’s student. Artaria published the Trio in 1788 with the consent of Mozart for the violin, piano, and viola. The original section of the clarinet was described in the alternative section. Because of unusual scoring, this piece was at times adapted to be suitable for the other kinds of trios such as the clarinet-violin-piano trio, the violin-cello-piano trio, the violin-viola-piano trio in accordance with the Artaria publication. Due to the unusual scoring, sometimes the piece is further adapted to fit different performances, and before Mozart, there was no composer who had written for this instrument combination during the 19th century. Andante Piano concerto No.3 in E-flat Composer: Sergei Taneyev Genre: classical This movement does not use the contemporary allegro as the opening movement but through using a more contemplative andante. Preceding this is the second movement which is not the traditional slow movement but a moderate shift. While the last movement is lively, it cannot be classified as standard allegro. Therefore, the differences in this trio cannot be as stark as in most of the classical sonatas. The time signature of 6/8 is used to write the Andante and comprises of 129 bars. A typical performance of Andante would last for more than six minutes. This movement does not repeat the exposition nor the movement remainder, and this is often unusual for the mature Mozart chamber music. The most recognizable feature of this principal movement theme is the
  • 7. gruppert movement that appears throughout. Conclusion The emergence of popular culture has hit people in a variety of ways, by either driving them towards a particular trend or inculcating a feeling of dislike towards other popular culture trends. Given that there are many categories of popular culture, it is only right to assume that one will bear a strong attraction to a given set of things related to popular culture, while at the same time shun other trends they deem unconventional. Vivaldi violin concertos: a handbook. Scarecrow Pr. COMP 1020 Exercise 3 Now that we have the data in an array, we can calculate the statistics. Add the possibility of an optional fourth token on a line, found only in readings with precipitation, containing the duration of precipitation. This will be given in the format 1:43 where 1 is the number of hours and 43 is the number of minutes (may be one or two digits). The : may be omitted, meaning the value is just the number of hours (zero minutes), or the number of hours may be omitted. For example:-10,3NW,15cm,4:38 5,15SW,8mm,2:8 8,8ENE,2mm,:25 -5,0,7cm,1 -3,0,3mm
  • 8. Download the complete Weather Station program and add the following features to it:Add hours and minutes instance variables to the Reading class. Zero values for both indicate no data (or no precipitation).Add the code to the main program to parse the extra data on the line. Hint: once you have split the CSV line into tokens, you may want to take the fourth token (if it exists) and split it according to the position of the :.Make sure you deal with the same situations as the original program: neither duration values can be negative, and use trim() to remove excess whitespace. Submit your complete modified program by the due date specified in the course schedule. Add a comment to the top of the program indicating whether you think it works in all cases described above, or if there are some it has trouble processing (and why). COMP 1020 Exercise 2 The program works well, but it makes some assumptions about the way movie ratings are stored. All the ratings have to be in the same scale (e.g. in this example, they are all out of 10), but often reviews use different scales (stars out of 5, percentages out of 100). Change the program to allow the program to use different scales, but keep the final results as numbers out of 10. The range of the scale will be added as an extra input line for each movie. For example:Casablanca 8.7 10.0 Toy Story 8.1 10.0 Star Wars Episode IV 88.0 100.0 Toy Story
  • 9. 4.0 5.0 The first two ratings are out of 10 as before, but the third is 88 out of 100, and the last rating is 4 out of 5 stars. Download the complete Movie Reviews program and add the following features to it:Read three lines for each movie instead of two. Start out by just printing the data from the extra line.Convert the third line into a double (outOf) and scale the rating by dividing it by outOf and multiplying the result by 10. Use this as the movie's rating out of 10 when creating or modifying a review. Note that the conversion of this value should also occur inside the nested "try" block. Since the error message in the "catch" may apply to an invalid rating or an invalid outOf value, change it appropriately. Submit only the complete file input try-catch block (and not the rest of the main program, or any other methods or classes) by the due date specified in the course schedule. hou1 2 Zhengke Hou (Olivia) Dr. Sarah Herbert MUS 135-H 10/11/2017

Mozart praised the studiousness as

He is popular for the virtuoso technique, expressive subtlety, and intellectual clarity and for expanding the mandolin repertoire through the adoption of the work of Bach for his albums (Martin, 1972). Similarly, Mozart wrote several music pieces which were to be performed at the Jacquin house especially for Franziska who was Mozart’s student. • 15. Piano concerto No.3 in E-flat Composer: Sergei Taneyev Genre: classical This movement does not use the contemporary allegro as the opening movement but through using a more contemplative andante. The most recognizable feature of this principal movement theme is the gruppert movement that appears throughout.
