Finmeccanica won orders for approximately EUR 320 million
Finmeccanica has won orders for a combined value of approximately EUR 320 million through its
companies AgustaWestland, DRS Technologies, SELEX Sistemi Integrati, SELEX Galileo, Ansaldo
STS and SELEX Communications.
AgustaWestland has won orders for a total value of approximately EUR 205 million.
In particular, the company won orders for a combined value of approximately EUR 117 million at Heli-
Expo 2011 (Orlando, Florida, USA, 6th – 8th March). Contracts have been signed by various
customers involving the AgustaWestland range of commercial helicopters in the single engine and
medium twin engine classes and multiple applications including search and rescue, fire fighting,
offshore and VIP/corporate transport. In addition to this order, the company has signed a contract
worth GBP 76 million with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to design and develop an integrated
training solution which includes the building and equipping of a new modern training centre for the
AW159 Lynx Wildcat helicopter at RNAS Yeovilton in England.
DRS Technologies has been awarded two contracts for a combined value of USD 56,5 million.
The first order, secured by DRS C3 & Aviation Company, worth approximately USD 24 million, from
the United States Coast Guard concerns continuing Programmed Depot Maintenance Support,
Product Line Engineering and Project Management for the Coast Guard’s fleet of HC-130, HC-144
and HU-25 aircraft. This order is the second under a three-year USD 67 million competitively bid IDIQ
contract initially awarded in 2009. The second order, secured by DRS Defense Solutions, is a USD
32.5 million IDIQ contract to provide Integrated Vision Systems (IVS) for the U.S. Army Assault
Breacher Vehicle (ABV).
SELEX Sistemi Integrati has been awarded contracts worth a total of EUR 25 million in the air traffic
control sector. These concern orders from Ukraine, to supply UkSATSE, the national air traffic control
body, with various radar and systems that will help upgrade Ukrainian airports’ technological
infrastructure ahead of the European football championships in 2012, and from Malaysia, to modernise
the air traffic control centre of Subang – Kuala Lumpur, for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
SELEX Galileo has been awarded a contract worth EUR 20 million to provide approximately 250 star
tracker attitude sensors for the Iridium NEXT programme, the biggest low orbit satellite constellation.
The NEXT constellation will include 81 satellites that will gradually replace the existing Iridium
constellation, providing continuous network coverage over the Earth’s surface.
Ansaldo STS has won a contract worth EUR 17.8 million. The contract is the renewal of the existing
agreement with RATP, the company that manages the Paris metro, for the ordinary and extraordinary
maintenance of signalling systems and services on metro lines 2, 3 and 3bis, 6, 7 and 7bis, 8, 9, 10,
11 and 12 and on tram lines T1, T2 and T3. The contract runs for three years, with an option to extend
for another two years (for a further EUR 11 million).
SELEX Communications has signed an agreement worth EUR 13 million to supply GSM-R
communications systems, passenger information management systems and videosurveIllance
systems to be integrated on board of the 50 new high-speed trains for Trenitalia.
