Final Research Project Report
Follow the guidelines of a professional report which includes
the following:
The final project for this course is to combine the information
gained from a quantitative survey and a qualitative focus group
into one cohesive 10 to 15 page, double-spaced report that
addresses a research objective.
· The cover page can contain graphics. Overall, it should look
professional and contain the company name, class name,
Professors name, Bellevue University, and date.
· Executive Summary page – ¾ of a page maximum, completed
last, that provides a summary (not overview) of the entire
Project.
· Table of Contents page
· The body of your paper which contains the quantitative survey
portion followed by the qualitative focus group portion
concluding with an overall analysis and at least two solid
recommendations.
· Reference Page – a minimum of six references are required.
· Appendices (final survey and tallies; focus group outline and
questions plus sample responses from questions)
· The assignment needs to be double spaced, 12 pt. font.
· Sub-titles need to be italicized (on a separate line) reflecting
the subject being discussed and used appropriately throughout
the paper.
· The first line of a paragraph needs to be indented five spaces.
Paragraphs need to be written in a clear concise manner using
proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation indicating gained
knowledge of the subject matter.
· Use APA Endnotes (Author, Date) followed by a period to
properly cite all information; for example: (Jones, 2007).
· Follow the APA examples in this syllabus for in-text and
reference page. APA non-compliance results in a 10 percent loss
in total points.
· Include an APA reference page, listing all sources used in
alphabetical order.
-Cover (no page number), Executive Summary (Page i), Table
of Contents (Page ii), Body of your paper (Page 1 and continue
with page numbers for the rest of the report), References, and
Appendices. Each one listed needs to start on a new page; for
example: The Executive Summary is one page all by itself as is
the Table of Contents.
-The appendices need to include a copy of your survey,
survey results, a copy of your focus group outline, and focus
group results. Each mentioned is a separate document. Overall,
this equals four.
My research objective is the quality of daycare compared to the
price one pays.
Research Objectives:
A. Interactions between child and caregiver are they sensitive,
harsh, detached, or involved with the children?
B. What learning activities does the daycare offer?
C. What are the health and safety aspects of the child care
environment?
D. What is the presence of appropriate furnishings, equipment,
and curricular material?
E. How is the structure of the daycare laid out? For examples,
teacher to student ratio, teacher previous experience, and
specialized training?
FOCUS GROUPS:
You are Focus Group 1
Please answer these question and discuss them as if you were
having the conversation together about daycares.
Quality
What is quality daycare to you?
What are some of the changes you would like to see your
current childcare provider make?
Reasoning
Why have you chosen your current daycare?
What are some of the changes you would like to see your
current childcare provider make?
Cost
How do you feel about the costs of the childcare you receive?
What is included in your childcare services? Meals, activities,
etc.?
Answer:
paid $140 a week and that included lunches and snacks. It was
Summer Grove Baptist ECEC. I chose this daycare because it
was a class B daycare which meant that they were able to chose
their own curriculum which included bible lessons that would
not be allowed if they were class A. They also did not accept
any type of government assistance, although that was not a
factor in my choice. There was a set number of children per age
group and if the limit was reached, no more were accepted.
There was always a lengthy wait list for enrollment. There was
a certified teacher and 1 aide for each group. I think there were
6 or 8 kids in Rylee's class. The days were very structured and
included singing, bible lessons, art, gym, free play and of
course morning and afternoon snack, lunch and nap time. The
center did regular drug screening on all employees and they had
to pass a background check. One thing I really liked is that any
time there was ANY kind of incident (biting, a fall, anything) I
received a detailed written report about it. I also was given a
daily progress report telling me what she ate that day, how long
she napped, etc. I felt it was on the expensive side but worth
every penny. I can't think of anything about this daycare that I
didn't like. To me, quality daycare is exactly what we recieved,
a well rounded, structured day in the safest environment
possible.
Group 2
· Quality daycare to me is not just a place, it is the people. I
want my child in a clean safe environment that has a staff that
truly cares for the children and their well-being.
· I do not have daycare now, but when I did I would like to have
seen the employees take pride in themselves and their jobs. A
first impression is lasting and if I walk in and you look sloppy,
then that is how I assume you will do your job. When it comes
to my child doing the job half hearted is not an option.
· When Hannah was in daycare, the one I chose was because it
was the nicer of the two we had in town. It offered hot meals, a
better student teacher ratio and the teacher was truly into her
kids.
· The cost of child care is extremely high. But have found that
you get what you pay for most of the time. A more expensive
daycare is going to offer more, employee people that represent
the clientele they are looking to attract, offer more activities,
etc. I think the price of daycare affects a lot of families and is
one of their biggest expenses. Lots of parents can not work
because daycare cost more than they make, so they stay home
with their children.
When we went to daycare, the cost included meals, arts and
crafts, snacks, education,etc.

Article 1: This article is to examine London, Ontario childcare
provider’s perspectives of the barriers and facilitators to
physical activities among daycare children. There were focus
groups that were recorded when questioned about these
inadequacies. These studies found that there are significant
implications to help support physical activities in daycares.

perspectives. Early Years: Journal Of International Research &
Development, 30(2), 175-188. doi:10.1080/09575141003667282
Article 2:
This article is about a sample of 41 parents of children’s age
two and younger and 35 caregivers to be interviewed on the
partnership between parents and caregivers. Most parents said
that they don’t have a clear knowledge of their child’s
experience in daycare or at home. Overall most parents are
satisfied with their daily communication they feel that
communication could be improved.

Practice, 16(4), 359-375. doi:10.1080/13575279.2010.498163
Article 4: This article is about interviewing parents over the
phone about aspects of their children’s daycare. Questions for
this sample were about the daycare’s structural and procedural
characteristics from daycare directors. These answers were
compared and showed a significant gap of parental knowledge
of daycare.

Final Research Project ReportFollow the guidelines of a profes.docx

  • 1. Final Research Project Report Follow the guidelines of a professional report which includes the following: The final project for this course is to combine the information gained from a quantitative survey and a qualitative focus group into one cohesive 10 to 15 page, double-spaced report that addresses a research objective. · The cover page can contain graphics. Overall, it should look professional and contain the company name, class name, Professors name, Bellevue University, and date. · Executive Summary page – ¾ of a page maximum, completed last, that provides a summary (not overview) of the entire Project. · Table of Contents page · The body of your paper which contains the quantitative survey portion followed by the qualitative focus group portion concluding with an overall analysis and at least two solid recommendations. · Reference Page – a minimum of six references are required. · Appendices (final survey and tallies; focus group outline and questions plus sample responses from questions) · The assignment needs to be double spaced, 12 pt. font. · Sub-titles need to be italicized (on a separate line) reflecting the subject being discussed and used appropriately throughout
  • 2. the paper. · The first line of a paragraph needs to be indented five spaces. Paragraphs need to be written in a clear concise manner using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation indicating gained knowledge of the subject matter. · Use APA Endnotes (Author, Date) followed by a period to properly cite all information; for example: (Jones, 2007). · Follow the APA examples in this syllabus for in-text and reference page. APA non-compliance results in a 10 percent loss in total points. · Include an APA reference page, listing all sources used in alphabetical order. -Cover (no page number), Executive Summary (Page i), Table of Contents (Page ii), Body of your paper (Page 1 and continue with page numbers for the rest of the report), References, and Appendices. Each one listed needs to start on a new page; for example: The Executive Summary is one page all by itself as is the Table of Contents. -The appendices need to include a copy of your survey, survey results, a copy of your focus group outline, and focus group results. Each mentioned is a separate document. Overall, this equals four. My research objective is the quality of daycare compared to the price one pays. Research Objectives: A. Interactions between child and caregiver are they sensitive, harsh, detached, or involved with the children? B. What learning activities does the daycare offer?
  • 3. C. What are the health and safety aspects of the child care environment? D. What is the presence of appropriate furnishings, equipment, and curricular material? E. How is the structure of the daycare laid out? For examples, teacher to student ratio, teacher previous experience, and specialized training? FOCUS GROUPS: You are Focus Group 1 Please answer these question and discuss them as if you were having the conversation together about daycares. Quality What is quality daycare to you? What are some of the changes you would like to see your current childcare provider make? Reasoning Why have you chosen your current daycare? What are some of the changes you would like to see your current childcare provider make? Cost How do you feel about the costs of the childcare you receive? What is included in your childcare services? Meals, activities,
  • 4. etc.? Answer: paid $140 a week and that included lunches and snacks. It was Summer Grove Baptist ECEC. I chose this daycare because it was a class B daycare which meant that they were able to chose their own curriculum which included bible lessons that would not be allowed if they were class A. They also did not accept any type of government assistance, although that was not a factor in my choice. There was a set number of children per age group and if the limit was reached, no more were accepted. There was always a lengthy wait list for enrollment. There was a certified teacher and 1 aide for each group. I think there were 6 or 8 kids in Rylee's class. The days were very structured and included singing, bible lessons, art, gym, free play and of course morning and afternoon snack, lunch and nap time. The center did regular drug screening on all employees and they had to pass a background check. One thing I really liked is that any time there was ANY kind of incident (biting, a fall, anything) I received a detailed written report about it. I also was given a daily progress report telling me what she ate that day, how long she napped, etc. I felt it was on the expensive side but worth every penny. I can't think of anything about this daycare that I didn't like. To me, quality daycare is exactly what we recieved, a well rounded, structured day in the safest environment possible. Group 2 · Quality daycare to me is not just a place, it is the people. I want my child in a clean safe environment that has a staff that truly cares for the children and their well-being. · I do not have daycare now, but when I did I would like to have seen the employees take pride in themselves and their jobs. A
  • 5. first impression is lasting and if I walk in and you look sloppy, then that is how I assume you will do your job. When it comes to my child doing the job half hearted is not an option. · When Hannah was in daycare, the one I chose was because it was the nicer of the two we had in town. It offered hot meals, a better student teacher ratio and the teacher was truly into her kids. · The cost of child care is extremely high. But have found that you get what you pay for most of the time. A more expensive daycare is going to offer more, employee people that represent the clientele they are looking to attract, offer more activities, etc. I think the price of daycare affects a lot of families and is one of their biggest expenses. Lots of parents can not work because daycare cost more than they make, so they stay home with their children. When we went to daycare, the cost included meals, arts and crafts, snacks, education, etc. SURVEY Link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/X6XT8BW (I can give access to survey if need…I don’t want to pay for this service so I am trying to use just the free services) Results from survey 1.
