Anatomy and an important paper presentation on the topic 'VITREOUS HUMOUR ' it's very useful for an optometrist/ophthalmologist and also for optometry students .
vitreous humour have it's own important function. But here only anatomy of vitreous humour/body.
2. • GENERAL FEATURE
•Vitreous humour is an -
Inert
Transparent
Colourless
Jelly like structure
PH-7.2
It serve optical function and also act as importent supporting structure of the eyeball.
The vitreous cavity bounded enteriorly with lens and cilliory body and posteriorly with retina.
It weight about 4gm and volume approximately 4cc
Vitreous humour is an extracellular material composed approximately 99% of water

6. STRUCTURE OF VITREOUS HUMOUR
Vitreous gell consist of the reticular type 2 colligen fibres.
It devided into three parts-
1-hyaloid layer-
It is not a true membrane but the outermost surface of the vitreous body.
they are devided into two parts-
-Anterior hyaloid membrane-
It coverd the vitreous body anteriorly.
- Posterior hyaloid membrane-
It coverd the vitreous body posteriorly.
7. 2- CORTICAL VITREOUS-
Vitreous cortex refers to the entire peripheral zone.
It consist of a relatively more condensed fibriilar vitreous.
-HYLOCYTES-
Vitreous body contain vitreous cells are called hylocyte.
3-MEDULLARY VITREOUS-
The mejority of vitreous body is formed by the central medullary body.
10. VITROUS TRACTS
Vitrous tracts are fine sheet like condensation of vetrous tissue
which rediate into the vitreous space from the ciliary body and
and anterior retina.
vitrous tracts are follow-
1-RETROLENTAL TRACT-
Innermost vitreous tract which is atteched anteriorly to the hyaloidocapsular
ligaments.
2-CORONARY TRACT-
It is atteched anteriorly with the coronary ligament.
11. 3- MEDIAN TRACT-
It is inserted anteriorly on the median ligament.
4-PRERETINAL TRACT-
It is outermost vitreou tract which atteched anteriorly with ora serrata.

13. TOPOGRAPHIC SUBDIVISION OF VITREOUS SPACE
1-RETROLENTAL ZONE-
This zone of vitreous space bounded by patellar fossa.
2-INTERMEDIATE ZONE-
It is bounded anteriorly by epiciliary portion of the anterior
hyaloid
membrane.
posteriorly by ciliary epithelium.
3-PRERETINAL ZONE-
This zone of the vitreous space is bounded on the outer side by the retina and
the inner side by the tractus preretinalis.
