How do you determine your foot type? ItГs really quite simple. Get a piece of dark paper and then soak your feet and step on the paper. Look closely at
the imprint. There are generally three types of feet.

3) If your imprint has a medium arch then congratulations. You are among the 10% of the population in America with the ideal foot.
Regardless of what foot type you have, there are running shoes that are right for you. As many as 56% of the 30 million runners in America, have
injuries from improper shoe selection. So you can see that you do have to do your homework to protect yourself.
With all the pressure one gets from TV adds or what is popular to wear now, you really need to put the health aspect first. Most likely you will be able
to find a shoe that is right for your foot type and still have style.
To determine the shoe to buy, here are some guidelines:
1) For the flat–footed person, you will want to buy a shoe that is rigid and stable. This will prevent your ankles from bending inward or outward and it
will protect you.
2) If you have high arches, you will want to look for a very cushioned shoe. High arched feet donГt absorb shock very well so youГll want that cushion

If a company is able to establish brand awareness, they will have a significant advantage in grabbing consumer's attention and, therefore, market share.
In today's society where consumers have significantly less time to shop and compare, brand awareness is critical. If an established brand name
effectively conveys the messages of quality and dependability, consumers will automatically go to that brand relying on the image that has been created
when they don't have time to shop around. Manufacturing efficiency is something that companies are constantly striving for as well. Athletic shoe
manufacturers must balance the costs of labor, raw materials, shipping, import tariffs, and technological advancements. In an effort to keeps costs
down, the industry has been looking to overseas sourcing. This reduces the risk of losing revenue if one region which a manufacturer incurs problems.
Favorable legislation regarding foreign manufacturing has led to a huge increase in foreign sourcing. Overseas production and sourcing can lower
material, and labor costs. The footwear companies must choose their distribution channels carefully because they want to make the product available,
yet remain true to their image and goals. Retailers account for the largest percentage of sales, so manufacturers must be especially careful with their

Case Study : Charleston Shoe Company Essay
CSC, or better known as Charleston Shoe Company to the general public, is a local comfort brand that sells stylish shoes to women. CSC is a specific
lexis that only members of Charleston Shoe Company would understand. This feature is defined by John Swales, who defines a discourse community
in his book Genre Analysis. CSC recognizes that many women have problems with their feet, which can include bunions, high insteps, and plantars
fasciitis. The Charleston shoes have elastic uppers so that the shoe can form to the foot, which makes them extremely comfortable while they remain in
style. While the members of Charleston Shoe Company may seem like a regular group of people, in reality, it is a tight knit discourse community.
According to John Swales, a discourse community has six identifying characteristics, all in which need to be present to decide if a community is a
discourse community. The six characteristics include: Common goals, a system of intercommunication between members, participation that leads to
information and feedback, one or more genres of communication, a specific lexis and a balance between levels of expertise (471–3). It was important
that Swales created a definition of discourse community because all previous definitions were either too vague or were not clear in how to identify a
discourse community (469). Now that it has been properly defined, one can see that discourse communities and rhetoric have a direct correlation.
It is also beneficial to look at

Statistics: Shoe Size and Foot Essay
FINAL PROJECT STATISTICS
DENISE CAPALBO
Gender statistics is an area that cuts across traditional fields of statistics to identify, produce and disseminate statistics that reflect the realities of the
lives of women and men, and policy issues relating to gender.
Women can still wear men's shoes, but the size they are accustomed to will be labeled differently in the men's sizes. Although theshoe size is related to
the length of your foot, the sizes do not follow a direct formula. Subtract 1 1/2 from your size, if you are a size 6. Therefore, your equivalent men's size
would be a 4 1/2.

Compared with males, the female's foot is generally shorter, narrower, and the length of instep is not as long. The average woman wears a size 8.5
(her foot is approximately twenty–four centimeters or 9.5 inches in length, about an inch shorter than the foot of the average male).
Further, the woman's heel is narrower when compared to the ball of foot, which is wider and has a larger girth relative to the rest of the foot.
Evidence supporting that the woman's unique foot is the result of genetics, comes from a study of toddlers. Even at this young age, the study found
boys and girls walked differently, and their feet differed in size and shape. Girls have a narrower foot than boys and when walking, put more weight
on the ball of their foot and their toes.

The Athletic Shoe Industry
Who would have of thought something you put on your feet to work out in would have such an impact on today's fashion and provide such a
positive impact to the economy. To understand the athletic shoe industry one first needs to know a little of its history. The first running shoe was
created in 1852; it was a leather slip with hard rubber soles and built in spikes. The first lightweight, flexible, flat bottom shoe was designed in 1892
by Goodyear, parent of the shoe company Converse All Stars, it was called The Ked. This began the evolution of the modern dayathletic shoe.

Asics Shoe Ads
The World on your Feet In our modern age, most of the information we receive is through social media. So much so that companies have used social
media to post advertisements for their products or even debut their new ideas. For example, in the shoe market, we see a mountain of ads from shoe
giants such as Nike, Adidas, Asics and Timberland just to name a few. These companies usually promote fitness, and foot stability and make sure to
encapsulate this idea in their advertisements. Looking particularity at a shoe ad campaign from Asics for their Limited Edition "LAM 33–DFA" running
shoe along side with its sponsorship of the Los Angeles marathon, we see a clever theme of distance combined with a display of the shoe. At first
glance the advertisement depicts the most recent Asics shoe flipped upside and a city being displayed on its sole. The shoe is a mixture of blue and

The advertisement is saying, the next time you want to stroll around in L.A. you should do it in the LAM 33–DFA and it will last you the entire way.

which would encourage runners to buy their running based sneakers for the event. Dodger's Stadium and Santa Monica Pier are approximately 19.1
miles away from each other, only 7.1 miles shy of the distance of an actual marathon! An entire city was placed on one sole, you can cover that
distance in one step. In actuality to cover the distance of 19.1 miles would take thousands of steps. Asics underlying theme shows the comfort their
shoes provide, and that even though it may take you thousands of steps to cover the distance of Dodger's stadium to the Santa Monica Pier, their

Shoe Dog Chapter Summary
The book I read was Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, and it goes through the story on some of his life focusing mostly on the founding of one of the most
famous shoe companies in the world, Nike. Phil Knight was a
24–year–old man who had just returned home to Oregon after graduating with a master's from Stanford and serving in the US Army for a year. He
was a very good runner growing up and even ran at a high level at the University of Oregon in his undergrad days, but was never good enough to be
elite. One day during a run he formulated an idea in his mind about running shoes and it never left him. During an entrepreneurial class he was taking
at Stanford he came up with a complete business model and presented it to the class as a school
project. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shoes never came, and after waiting around long enough
Knight returned to work, taking a job at an accounting firm. Then finally, after a year since he was in Japan, the shoes arrived.
This was one of the first times I felt that Knight was going on the right path because the first thing he did when he got his shoes was send a couple
pairs of them to his legendary track coach from the
University of Oregon, Bill Bowerman. Impressed with the shoes,
Bowerman wanted in on the deal and they became partners in a 51–49 split, giving Knight control of his company. The first order of 300 shoes was
paid for thanks to a loan from Knight's father and it was confirmed that Knight would be the distributor for the Japanese shoes in the West.
He immediately quit his accounting job and began selling the shoes from his car. This was bad communication on Knights part in regard to being now
"known" as the distributor in the west because he never got a full contract in writing.
The way he marketed and tried to get the people on board was amazing; with himself being in the running game he could go to all the track and field
meets to talk to all the people there. His belief in

A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size
Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height is correlational. I believe it is, based on my personal experiences.
Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It's common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a
clearer relationship between shoe size and height when girls and boys are measured separately. The shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the
heel. The height of a person is measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet.
Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between height and shoe size.
Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were from ages 16–18 years old. These students were
picked based on convenience. This survey might be somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their
information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did thestandard deviation, scatter plot graphs, and
correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the diffusion of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It's used when
assessing data. To find the standard deviation, it's necessary to first find the mean. Now we find how far each value is from the mean (the deviation).
Then, square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a scatter plot graph

Loyalty, Investing more into breaking into new markets and dealing with distributors. One key thing that is supporting the running shoe market of
Under Armour is their established brand in the Athletic gear department. It was also seen that Under Armour is investing more into breaking into new
markets and distributors for their product lines, which will be seen by reported 2011 date. The VP of Under Armour's marketing stated that he believes
their brand apparel will speak for itself, and loyal customers will try out their new running product line because of their deliverance in performance in
everything they do. Weaknesses: Limited Amount of Distributors, International Expansion, Brand Equity. Ultimately, the running shoe market isn't
doing great overall as sales are lagging in fourth quarter in 2009 going from 9.2m to 8.2m. Almost all of their sales were in the US provenience, as most
of their sales have been, although, Under Armour is attempting to push more into an international brand especially in China. Another key problem

THE REAL STRATEGIES INSHOE MANUFACTURING
Nowadays there are many different approaches and methodologies that can be used for industrial systems' optimization and analysis. Among these
techniques are the ones for production and inventory management and industrial plant distribution, which are mainly used for reducing the company's

Nowadays, the company has some difficulties in completing an order because sometimes they only use one injection machine and this affects its
relationship with clients. Therefore the importance of having a production policy, during this analysis the authors have considered a production rate of
only one machine and a EPQ model is going to be used. This model fits with the behavior of the company because the demand remains constant, but in
this case we are considering a production rate (units produced per year).
Optimal quantities of shoes to produce
Considering a constant and uniform demand, an EPQ (1) analysis was made to determine the optimal quantities of shoes that Zebra Shoes must
produce and the maximum level of inventory that the company must have in order to satisfy the demand.
Unitary cost = C =50 $
Annual cost for maintaining inventory = i = 15% per year
Annual cost for maintaining inventory per unit = h = ic = 7.5 $/pair–year
Preparing production cost = A = 55$/order
Demand = D = 300 000 pairs/year
Production rate = P = 312000 pairs/year
Zebra Shoes must produce 10695 pairs in 13 days approximately, if not they must react in order to avoid any delays in their deliveries.
Optimal quantities of raw materials to order

My Shoe Company For This Simulation Project Is Bauer, Inc.
My shoe company for this simulation project is Bauer, Inc. In this paper we will go over multiple aspects of my company. We will go over a situational
analysis (SWOT analysis) of Bauer, Inc., strategic marketing mix (product, place, price and promotion strategies), mission statement, target market, and
marketing objectives. First, let us look at my situational analysis of Bauer, Inc. A strength of Bauer, Inc. is that we've been growing. From period's–1
to 0, we were able to increase our net profit by 50%. Another strength is in period 0 we were able to enter into the domestic market. This step helped
our company sales from periods –1 to 0. One weakness of Bauer, Inc. is that we have been showing loss the last two periods. In period –1 our net profit
was –2.4 million dollars and in period 0 it was –1.2 million dollars. A second weakness is Bauer, Inc.'s product is currently a base version model.
Consumers will not want to buy a low quality shoe. An opportunity for Bauer, Inc. is that the athletic shoe industry is a huge industry. The industry is
made up of over $70 billion dollars worldwide and Bauer, Inc. can tap into that. An additional opportunity is that there are multiple markets to enter into
(domestic and foreign). This will allow Bauer, Inc. to sell our shoes to multiple and larger markets and increase our sales. A threat of Bauer, Inc. is that
there are 10 other competitors in the athletic shoe industry that can potentially take market share from us. Another threat

The Athletic Shoe Industry Is Made Up Of Companies That...
Executive Summary
Introduction
The athletic shoe industry is made up of companies that produce footwear for athletic use. This is a strong industry and has been around for over 100
years. The athletic shoe industry is one of the fastest growing footwear industries and have top growing sales compared to other footwear industries
(NDP Group, 2016). The key players that currently dominate the market are Nike, Adidas, and Puma (Kates & Bolduc, 2013). This paper will use the
porter five forces, industry life cycle, and the key players to understand the industry. Over these years the athletic shoe industry has grown into a
competitive market.
Porter's Five Forces
The athletic shoe industry will be first analyzed by the Porter's Five Forces framework. The well–known Porter's Five Forces is a model that analyzes
an industry and helps firms develop a business strategy. The five forces model focuses on six forces that will determine the attractiveness of this
industry: (1) the risk of entry by potential competitors, (2) the intensity of rivalry among established companies within an industry, (3) the bargaining
power of buyers, (4) the bargaining power of suppliers, (5) the closeness of substitutes to an industry 's products, and (6) the power of complement
providers (Hill, Jones, & Schilling, 2015).
The Risk of Entry by Potential Competitors
The threat of new entrants in the athletic shoe industry is very weak. Currently the market is dominated by three major competitors, and

Running Shoe Research Paper
My research has answered how each layer of a running shoe is designed in order to absorb ground reaction force and prevent injury. The design of
running shoes requires a great deal of knowledge about the forces involved in the sport. The major force that needs to be taken into consideration when
creating a new shoe is ground reaction force. This is a force that will always be present in running due to Newton's second law of motion that states
that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Every time a runner's foot hits the ground, the force is two to three times the person's body
weight. The shoe must be able to absorb that impact and even redirect its force and help the runner in addition to protecting.

experience vividly to life. Through the use of projected images, sound, music and symbolism; the horrors of war, survival and resilience are portrayed

Although a humorous part in the play, it displays their wants and needs for survival. As the women form a choir within the camp, theshoehorn takes on
an essential role in the women's existence. It is used as a metronome, driving the music, lifting the spirits of each woman and emotionally allowing them
to rise above the deprivation and horror around them. This notion is enhanced with the dialogue "together we made this glorious sound that rose above
the camp – above the jungle – above the war – rose and rose and took us with it. Fifty voices set us free". Most predominantly the shoe horn becomes a
symbol of the pain and shame Sheila held for 50 years and the sacrifice she was willing to make in order to save a friends life. Once the shoe horn is
returned to Bridie, it becomes a symbol of the women's redemption of friendship and whipes out the pain and suffering they both had felt since the
completion of the war. The symbolism throughout the drama portrays to the audience that in various situations the women used what they had in order
to survive and carry on with their lives.
Misto uses distinctively visual techniques through the drama to portray to the audience the experiences and feelings Bridie and Shelia felt throughout

Why Wear A Skate Shoe
Introduction –
Over the past two decades or so, skater fashion has nonchalantly strolled its way out of the skateparks and into the mainstream. Because we are so
used to seeing people wearing skate shoes in everyday life, it is easy to forget that they play a pretty important role in the development of a skater's
arsenal. Whether you're a veteran of the half–pipe or new to it all, read on to find the best skate shoe for you.
Why Wear A Skate Shoe?–
If you're just starting out in the world of skating, you may be a little skeptical about the difference a pair of shoes can make. After all, doesn't skating
encourage you to revolt against the status quo, embrace your weirdness, and wear what you want? Yes, of course it does, but all of that... Show more

Of course, owing to the high demands of skating, skaters tend to go through shoes at a rapid pace anyway, but the most hardcore of skaters would find
themselves replacing their skate shoes on an almost daily basis were it not for the triple stitch.
Cupsoles Or Vulcanized? –
Despite the fact millions of people believe they can determine one, there is no clear winner between cupsole or vulcanized skate shoes. In the end, it
comes down to which shoe is better for you, which is determined by the kind of skating you want to do.
Cupsoles are the heavier, padded shoe of the two and generally provide greater shock absorption and comfort. Owing to their ability to protect the foot
and ankle, cupsoles are generally recommended to skaters who plan to jump from high distances or perform a lot of aerials while on the board.
Cupsoles tend to last a little longer than their vulcanized counterparts.
While vulcanized skate shoes don't offer the padding of cupsoles, they do make it possible to achieve greater control of your board, meaning they are
perfect for tricks like grinds and slides. Thinner and more flexible, they are most suited to those who plan to wear their skate shoes both in and out of
the park.
For those who are interested, a video comparison of a cupsole skate shoe and its vulcanized alternative can be found below.

The few pairs of more expensive, non–canvas "Western" brand shoes sat next to piles of clothing courtside, worn only for the trip to the game and then
replaced with the cheaper shoes to actually play in!
Beyond simple observation, research statistics revealed the market demand for athletic shoes. According to a Nike commissioned study of the
Chinese sports market, 86 percent of the interviewees participated in some kind of "sport." This translated to over 1 billion "exercising people" in
China. Over 49 percent of those surveyed claimed to ride a bicycle, which was also a primary means of transportation. Apart from cycling and
running, badminton was reported as the most played sport in China. According to this study, 35 percent of Chinese age 10 or older played badminton
at least once a year. In absolute numbers, this translated to 336 million players, a number Hartge felt couldn 't be ignored. Exhibit 4 highlights the
various sports activities of the Chinese population. Hartge saw a twofold advantage of the World Shoe project. First, it made sense from a growth
perspective. But equally as important for Nike 's brand image, the initiative made sense from a triple–bottom–line standpoint. For one thing, it created
more income generation in the regions where the company operated manufacturing facilities. Second, a product specially developed for the needs of
the mass Chinese market offered local consumers their own affordable product line.

Why Is Nike the Biggest Training Shoe Company in the World
Athletic shoes have become a basic part just about everyone 's wardrobes. This is due to both the increasing numbers of people exercising and the
trend towards casual apparel. One of the most popular brands in the world is Nike. Competition is strong at all levels within the industry, especially
among the leaders. However, Nike has successfully differentiated from these competitors. This essay will concentrate on what makes Nike shoes

The most important areas of product development like research and design align with the Nike objective to "innovate and inspire". The company has
completed countless hours of tests on how the human body moves. It is continuously making new discoveries that improve the products and its

to know what the world will want tomorrow and what resources will be needed. And it appears that Nike always has something new on the horizon.
The company digs into any niche related to sports, including technological breakthroughs, retailing, sports management and sports promotion.
Depending on what information that they take in, they can make a product that will suit the current times as well as times to come. One of the best
examples is the Air concept developed by Nike В– Air sole which contains pockets of pressurised gas increasing trainers ' comfort. As a result of
devoting vast resources to the research and development, Nike continues to be the leader of quality products. The strategy, Nike uses to keep costs
down is to contract with manufacturing companies located in countries where labour costs are cheap. In general, the manufacturing companies are
located further from most customers, resulting in higher distribution costs. However, the financial benefits of outsourcing far outweigh costs of

  • 8. Case Study : Charleston Shoe Company Essay CSC, or better known as Charleston Shoe Company to the general public, is a local comfort brand that sells stylish shoes to women. CSC is a specific lexis that only members of Charleston Shoe Company would understand. This feature is defined by John Swales, who defines a discourse community in his book Genre Analysis. CSC recognizes that many women have problems with their feet, which can include bunions, high insteps, and plantars fasciitis. The Charleston shoes have elastic uppers so that the shoe can form to the foot, which makes them extremely comfortable while they remain in style. While the members of Charleston Shoe Company may seem like a regular group of people, in reality, it is a tight knit discourse community. According to John Swales, a discourse community has six identifying characteristics, all in which need to be present to decide if a community is a discourse community. The six characteristics include: Common goals, a system of intercommunication between members, participation that leads to information and feedback, one or more genres of communication, a specific lexis and a balance between levels of expertise (471–3). It was important that Swales created a definition of discourse community because all previous definitions were either too vague or were not clear in how to identify a discourse community (469). Shoe Dog Chapter Summary The book I read was Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, and it goes through the story on some of his life focusing mostly on the founding of one of the most famous shoe companies in the world, Nike. Phil Knight was a 24–year–old man who had just returned home to Oregon after graduating with a master's from Stanford and serving in the US Army for a year. He was a very good runner growing up and even ran at a high level at the University of Oregon in his undergrad days, but was never good enough to be elite. One day during a run he formulated an idea in his mind about running shoes and it never left him. During an entrepreneurial class he was taking at Stanford he came up with a complete business model and presented it to the class as a school project. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shoes never came, and after waiting around long enough Knight returned to work, taking a job at an accounting firm. Then finally, after a year since he was in Japan, the shoes arrived. This was one of the first times I felt that Knight was going on the right path because the first thing he did when he got his shoes was send a couple pairs of them to his legendary track coach from the University of Oregon, Bill Bowerman. Impressed with the shoes, Bowerman wanted in on the deal and they became partners in a 51–49 split, giving Knight control of his company. The first order of 300 shoes was paid for thanks to a loan from Knight's father and it was confirmed that Knight would be the distributor for the Japanese shoes in the West. He immediately quit his accounting job and began selling the shoes from his car. This was bad communication on Knights part in regard to being now "known" as the distributor in the west because he never got a full contract in writing. The way he marketed and tried to get the people on board was amazing; with himself being in the running game he could go to all the track and field meets to talk to all the people there. • 16. A Correlation Between Height And Shoe Size Introduction I love buying shoes and I have always wondered if shoes and height is correlational. I believe it is, based on my personal experiences. Shoe size generally is proportional to height. It's common sense that shorter people have shorter feet than taller people. However, there is probably a clearer relationship between shoe size and height when girls and boys are measured separately. The shoe size is measured from the tip of the toe to the heel. The height of a person is measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. Statement of Task The main purpose of this investigation is to see if there is a correlation between height and shoe size. Plan of Investigation The data is collected from 36 students from Garland High School. They were from ages 16–18 years old. These students were picked based on convenience. This survey might be somewhat biased because some students did not want to take it because they did not know their information. The survey was anonymous, except for the gender. With the data I collected, I did thestandard deviation, scatter plot graphs, and correlation coefficient. Standard deviation is the diffusion of data. I used it because it tells you how widely spread your data is. It's used when assessing data. To find the standard deviation, it's necessary to first find the mean. Now we find how far each value is from the mean (the deviation). Then, square the deviations and find the mean of those values. I used a scatter plot graph ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We will go over a situational analysis (SWOT analysis) of Bauer, Inc., strategic marketing mix (product, place, price and promotion strategies), mission statement, target market, and marketing objectives. First, let us look at my situational analysis of Bauer, Inc. A strength of Bauer, Inc. is that we've been growing. From period's–1 to 0, we were able to increase our net profit by 50%. Another strength is in period 0 we were able to enter into the domestic market. This step helped our company sales from periods –1 to 0. An opportunity for Bauer, Inc. is that the athletic shoe industry is a huge industry. The industry is made up of over $70 billion dollars worldwide and Bauer, Inc. can tap into that. An additional opportunity is that there are multiple markets to enter into (domestic and foreign). This will allow Bauer, Inc. to sell our shoes to multiple and larger markets and increase our sales. The design of running shoes requires a great deal of knowledge about the forces involved in the sport. This is a force that will always be present in running due to Newton's second law of motion that states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This notion is enhanced with the dialogue "together we made this glorious sound that rose above the camp – above the jungle – above the war – rose and rose and took us with it. Once the shoe horn is returned to Bridie, it becomes a symbol of the women's redemption of friendship and whipes out the pain and suffering they both had felt since the completion of the war.
