Nerds are often discriminated against and bullied. While some say it is due to their glasses or intelligence, the real reason is that nerdy behavior undermines social norms by being obsessive, socially inept, and lacking common sense. A nerd describes himself as someone who is smart, wears glasses, likes math, and plays in the school band. However, he questions why these interests make him uncool or cause him to be picked on. He wonders why intelligence is looked down upon. A nerd interviewed says the stereotypes about nerds being stupid, irritating or unattractive are false and ignorant. The only real commonality among nerds is their intelligence.

when said "nerds" act in a way that

me “uncool?”
All my life I have wondered this. Why, on every cartoon or
show I watched, the unpopular, band geek, smart student
was picked on and made fun of because they were the way
they were? Why did all my classmates look down upon me
simply because I made straight A’s?
And why, these days, are “nerds” everywhere being taunte
and tortured merely because of their intelligence and
interests? Why does no one pick on the football player, or
the cheerleader? (Though I might add, anyone is susceptib
to bullying. It’s just that “nerds” in particular seem to be
looked down on by the world)
Do not make fun of us because of our interests! Do not bul
us because of our intelligence! Do not call us “four eyes” an
“metal mouth!” My fellow “nerds,” take a stand!

5. Nerd´s stereotype
• People think that nerds are stupid, irritating,
ineffectual, or unattractive person. They say that nerds
use short clothes, and call them anoraks or dweeb too.
• But we were speaking with a nerd, Martin Volvo, and
he confessed us: the people that believe in all things
that the society say about nerds is false, and if they
really believe that, they are an ignorant.
• Martin told us the only thing that all nerds have in
common is their intelligence, the others stereotypes is
all lies.
