What is Distinguished Alumni Award?
The Distinguished Alumni Award is recognition of alumni of the VAMNICOM that are
well known and respected in their chosen field and have made significant contributions in
academia, industry and other fields around the world. It is awarded by the VAMNICOM,
Pune. Distinguished Alumni Award comprises Trophy and cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- and
presented every year during Annual Alumni meet “Sutra”.
When was the award instituted?
The award has been instituted from the year 2013 and 2 awards will be given every year.
There will be no separate award for different programmes and only one male and one
female member of Alumni shall be selected as a winner of the award.
Who decides the awards?
A selection committee constituted by the Director, VAMNICOM will review the
nominations and select the awardees for the year.
In case, committee does not find any of the nominations received suitable for selection of
award then committee can select any deserving Alumni for the award with approval of
the Director.
Is there an award ceremony?
The awards shall be given during the Convocation Function / Sutra (Alumni Meet) /
VAMNICOM foundation day.
How are candidates identified and nominated?
Each year, communication shall be sent to members of VAMNICOM Alumni seeking
nominations.

One can send nomination for self or any other deserving Alumni. Both modes shall be
considered valid for evaluation.
What is the need for this process?
To ensure greater participation, high visibility, transparency and objectivity.
Who is eligible to be nominated?
Any person who has done Ph.D from VAMNICOM Research Centre, passed out
PGDM-ABM/PGDBA/PGDBM, DCBM, DMCO from VAMNICOM is eligible to be
nominated.
Person should have subscribed for Life Membership of VAMNIAN VAMNICOM
Alumni. Details of subscribing for membership are also made available under News and
Announcement section on Home Page of Institute website.
Is there a template I can use for nomination?
Nomination Form can be downloaded from www.vamnicom.gov.in under News and
Announcement section on Home Page.
You can include relevant media reports or other third party news items as attachments.
Avoid including too many details and restrict a well written nomination to typically 4-5
pages.
