Dichotomy Of California Culture Summary
As a native born Californian, a person would be able to view both sides of how California culture is expressed. They see the good, and the bad.
Mostly, you would see the middle. However, the sunny glamour and ghoulish noir is such a powerful dichotomy that expresses California culture
because it is gives us an insight of both the good, and the bad in California. Umberto Eco views places like Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm as a
hyperreality. The thought that everything is perfect. It is nothing like the real world. Disneyland is viewed as the "Happiest place on Earth" where
people go to get away from reality, and play along with the story. In a sense, this displays exactly what people see in California, a place to get away
from every day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On shows such as "Laguna Beach" and "The OC", it is a place for the rich and famous. Commercials that are trying to attract tourists essentially
make California look like the place to be. You see the lifestyle that most could only dream about, and want a little piece of it. It shows us the so
called glamour that is related to California. On the darker scale of things, the media also brings out the worst in California. With shows like "Cops"
that always show the criminals of San Bernardino, to the documentaries on the gangs of California. They make some people believe that California is
a terrible place that is full of hooligans and hood rats. The music industry has a huge role in what California culture is seen as too. It gives the vision that
Los Angeles is the place to be in order to make it big. It also makes people think that California is a state full of stoners and alcoholics. There is
really no in between in the media to show people what life in California is actually like. It is most definitely part of the reason for the dichotomy that
California culture is viewed

Euro Disney: From Dream to Nightmare, 1987–94
Robert M. Grant
At the press conference announcing Euro Disneyland SCA's financial results for the year ended September 30, 1994, CEO Philippe Bourguignon
summed up the year in succinct terms: "The best thing about 1994 is that it's over." In fact, the results for the year were better than many of Euro
Disneyland's long–suffering shareholders had predicted. Although revenues were down 15 percent – the result of falling visitor numbers caused by
widespread expectations that the park would be closed down – costs had been cut by 12 percent, resulting in a similar operating profit to that of the
previous year. The bottom line still showed a substantial loss (net after–tax loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include Main Street, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Adventureland. The objective is to immerse the guest in the atmosphere of
the particular land. The theme of each land is reflected in the types of rides and attractions, the costumes of employees, the architectural style of the
buildings, and even the food and souvenirs sold within the boundaries of the particular land. Rather than presenting a random collection of roller
coasters, merry–go–rounds, and other rides, the Disney parks create an all–embracing experience which envelops the guest in carefully designed,
tightly managed fantasy experience such as space flight, a Caribbean pirate attack, a flying ride with Peter Pan, or a race down the Matterhorn in a
bob–sleigh. Disney theme parks benefit from the talent and expertise of the Walt Disney "family" of businesses. Parks are designed by the engineers
and architects of a wholly–owned subsidiary – WED Enterprises. The themes for the attractions and characters that are featured in them often have
their origins in cartoons and live action movies produced by Disney's studios. The parks also benefit from management and merchandising techniques
developed over many years at Disney. These techniques have led to tremendous successes. In merchandising, Disney retail stores achieved some of the
highest sales per square foot in the United States. Disney's success can be traced to the control of the environment

Remember To Remember My Life
I will always remember the Summer of 1973. It was special because my Dad took my sister, brother and I on vacation to visit my Aunt Fina who
lived in Orange County while my Mom stayed home with my two younger sisters. It would be the first time I would feel like I belonged and the first
and last time we would have Dad to ourselves even if it was for three short days.
On Tuesday we packed the yellow 1957 Chevy Bel Air and off we went. The three of us were so excited and Dad who usually wanted everything
quiet while he drove surprisingly let us sing and talk and of course we took naps in between. We arrived late afternoon at myAunt Fina's house and she
welcomed us and we greeted her and our cousins, Glenn and George. Uncle Glen was a lawyer and did not arrive until late. I do not remember
seeing him until the next day. She fed us dinner and the only thing I remember about that dinner was the ranch dressing. It was the best salad
dressing I had ever tasted and Aunt Fina bragged that it was homemade and that the secret was the buttermilk. Wednesday came and Auntie Fina
already had breakfast ready for us. She made the best pancakes. After we ate we all got into the Chevy and went to Knott's Berry Farm. I remember
we had a great time and Dad let us get souvenirs. My older sister got a little brown jar that was a bank with the Knott's Berry farm logo on it, my
brother got a train whistle, and I got a stuffed Snoopy dog. The train ride was the best part. After a day at the park we

Universal Studios Hollywood : A Theme Park And Film Studio
Introduction Universal Studios Hollywood is a theme park and film studio located in Los Angeles, California (Wikipedia, 2016). According to their
own marketing, they are known as the "Entertainment Capital of LA" ( ). In 1915, Carl Laemmle founded this plot of land as a movie studio named
"Universal City" (Knight, 2008). In July 1964, Universal Studios Hollywood, now owned by NBCUniversal (Comcast), was created to give the public
an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes of their favorite films (Knight, 2008).
Today,Universal Studios Hollywood provides family–friendly experiences that are unique to each person (Barnes, 2014). This theme park now offers
guests private studio tours, meet–and–greets with popular characters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It started as a simple studio tour where the guests got to take a peek at life behind the scenes of Hollywood films and television shows (Knight,
2008). The park guests were able to walk onto live sets and actually look at the dressing rooms (Wikipedia, 2016). Meanwhile, the idea for a full–blown
theme park was underway (Knight, 2008). The War Lord Tower was one of Universal Studios Hollywood's first attractions to open in 1965 (Studio
Tours, 2016). Thrill rides and multiple stage shows opened and the park started gaining popularity (Knight, 2008). The theme park then started coming
out with seasonal specials such as "Whoville Comes To Life" (also known as Grinchmas) and "Halloween Horror Nights" (Fu, 2016). These special
events boost ticket sales. Universal Studios Hollywood is constantly changing and updating their shows and attractions to accommodate the new and
growing generations (Goldsmith, 2010).
Conduit
Universal Studios Hollywood is its own conduit. The theme park itself is the product to the guests. Universal Studios Hollywood entices people to
come to its location by offering tickets at discount rates and creating new rides that will appeal to different and younger guests (Knight 2008). In an
attempt to reach guests all around the globe, Universal Studios has opened in Hollywood, Florida, Japan and Singapore (Goldsmith, 2010). Future

Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American bell of great historic significance. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most
prominent symbols associated with the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. It is one of the most familiar symbols of
independence, abolition of slavery, nationhood and freedom within the United States, and has been used as an international icon of liberty. [1]
Its most famous ringing, on July 8, 1776, summoned citizens of Philadelphia for the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Previously, it had been
rung to announce the opening of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and after the Battle of Lexington and Concord in 1775.

the inhabitants thereofВ—Lev. XXV, v. x. By order of the Assembly of the Province of Pensylvania for the State House in Philad." (The spelling
"Pensylvania" was an accepted variant at the time.)
[edit] 19th–century history, repair and crack
During the 19th century, the bell tolled at the death of Alexander Hamilton (1804), Lafayette's return to Philadelphia (1824), the deaths of Adams and
Jefferson (1826), Washington's 100th birthday celebration (1832) and the deaths of Lafayette (1834), John Marshall (1835) and William Henry
Harrison (1841). [4]
In 1839, William Lloyd Garrison's anti–slavery publication The Liberator reprinted a Boston abolitionist pamphlet containing a poem about the Bell,
entitled, "The Liberty Bell," which represents the first known usage (in print) of the name, "Liberty Bell." [4]
It is not certain when the second crack appeared (the first after the recastings), but the bell was repaired in February 1846. The method of repair,
known as stop drilling, required drilling along the hairline crack so that the sides of the fracture would not reverberate.
On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of Independence Hall in honor of George Washington's birthday.[5] When the
bell was rung,

our tickets. Second we had to find some chairs. Then we went to a pool called The wave cove. And every 5 minutes waves would hit. It was so fun
to swim over them. After that we went to a big water slide that was 50 feet tall. My little cousin went on one that was 4 feet tall. Then we ate pizza

Narrative Essay About Sour Patch Kids
March 3, 2017 6:30, I woke up with the bright sun hitting my face. Sweat was already trickling down my face. The sun was ready for a brand new
fresh day, I wasn't. I knew today was the day which I strove for so long, the day I get to go to Knott's Berry Farm with my "Band Mates" as I called
them. Packed my backpack all up with all sorts of snacks, Skittles, Pringles, Tangy fruit cups which I've always adored for some reason, Sour Patch
Kids, and the list goes on. I'm not a glutton, I'll be the first to say that.. I only brought all this because my mother insisted , she didn't want me to
get hungry in line or get an upset stomach. I knew that if I ate all of it, I would end up with explosive diarrhea the next 5 minutes though. I had
packed my deodorant because I didn't want to smell like a dirty sock basket or anything worse. I brought my eye drops so I can actually see
throughout the whole day. There was one big thing that I forgot to pack, something so obvious yet forgetful, Extra Clothing. "How could I forget
such a thing? Why won't I just post sticky notes all over my room to remind me of the basic requirementsf? I said as I groaned with frustration. I
packed my what felt like a 50 pound instrument into my mother's car. I introspected that I deserved the trip, 4.0, played an instrument for a full year,
did extra credit, I didn't give that year my all though. I whispered to my instrument, "Where would I be without you Tenor Sax? Oh yeah, a full day of

Summer Tradition Analysis
The paper described a summary of a summer tradition from which I had the opportunity to enjoy with my family members during last September.
For each year, before all of my children and I go back to schools, our family members go to Knott's Berry Farm theme park at the end of each summer.
The reason we want to do this family activity so that the children would have the last blast memory of their summer time and because the Knott has
the best rides according to my kids. Our family wants to use this opportunity to spend a quality time together before everyone goes back into their
schooling routines. We will not have much time together until we have a winter break later in December since four out of five members of our family

Gold Rush Dbq Essay
The assigned readings provided an interesting view of the diverse groups of people who migrated to California during the Gold Rush in the late
1840s and early 1850s and how they impacted society. The primary sources shared detailed information of how Californian society was grew and
developed new rules and regulations for mining operations. The sources also discussed how American pioneers and people from different countries
shared their experiences during the Gold Rush. Equally important, as Californian society increased, many Yankee miners became concerned about the
arrival of foreigners in California (Textbook, 201). California state legislators enforced the Miners' Licensee of 1850 and 1852 that required foreigners
to purchase specific mining licenses in order for them to mine (Miners' Document, 33). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The migration of many foreigners resulted from various reasons that were explained in Susan Lee Johnson's chapter On the Eve of Emigration.
Johnson discussed how many foreigners from different regions of the world and Americans from the Eastern part of the United States left their homes
or countries for economic, social, political, or cultural reasons to start a new life in California with the hopes of striking wealth from the mines
(Johnson, 59–95). One of the most interesting first–hand accounts of the Gold Rush came from a woman named Louis Amelia Knapp Smith Clapp or
Dame Shirley. Shirley's account provided a detailed view of how life was during the gold mining years in California through her own descriptive
personal account (Shirley Document, 171–184). This engaging source offered a good understanding of how life was in California during the late
1840s and early 1850s. The California Gold Rush caused "gold fever" among diverse ranges of people, both locally and globally, and sparked an instant

Born Standing Up Book Review
As I was walking down the aisles of the bookstore, trying to figure out which memoir or autobiography I was going to read, I picked up many
books that seemed interesting. When I saw Steve Martin's book, Born Standing Up, I knew that I had found the perfect one. A memory came to me
as I looked at Steve Martin's book in my hands. I remembered seeing The Pink Panther, with Steve Martin as inspector Clouseau. I was six and I had
never seen a movie that made me laugh so hard. Ever since then, Steve Martin has been my favorite male actor. After reading his memoir I gained a
certain respect for Steve Martin because he came from an average family with no connections to the entertainment world and he worked for everything
he received. Some actors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I asked my parents about Knott's Berry Farm, they started reminiscing about their childhood birthday parties there. My parents stories and
explanations helped me visualize Steve Martin's performances. Another place that Steve Martin performed at, before he was well known, was
the Bird Cage. My mom actually saw him perform there when she was in high school and her first impression of him was, "This guy is crazy!"
Paying for Long Beach State College from his Bird Cage wages, Steve Martin took an interest in philosophy. He used his teachings to develop his
comedy. He used logic that he learned from Lewis Carroll and rhythmic poetry from E. E. Cummings. Steve Martin never gave up. Throughout
college he performed anywhere he could. When his performances were total failures, he learned from his mistakes and kept going. When reading this
book, I often found myself laughing out loud. Steve Martin would crack jokes even during a serious subject. When writing about his girlfriend
leaving him for John Frankenheimer, a man who later tried to seduce his wife, he says, "Frankenheimer died a few years ago, but it was not I who killed

"Are you sure that I am allowed to go on this ride?" I said with a questioning look on my face. The questioning look made my dad think the way I

sprinkles on ice cream. Even with my shoulders and head down, I was still five inches taller than I was supposed to be. "It's Knott's Berry Farm it's

The Physics Of Roller Coasters
Ever since the first commercial roller coaster was built in the United States in 1884, roller coasters have been seen in amusement parks all around the
world. These rides, seen in all shapes and sizes, are widely recognized for their thrills. At sudden twists and turns, riders experience large levels of
excitement. But what makes a roller coaster so exciting? The answer is physics. In the process of designing roller coasters, engineers use concepts
such as Newton's three laws of motion to make loops, corkscrews, hills, and jumps possible. How these concepts are put to work can be seen in
examples of roller coasters throughout history.
The first forms of the roller coaster were seen in St. Petersburg, Russia as early as the 1600s. Piles of ice were built about 70 feet high, and
thrillseekers would slide down wooden, icy ramps built on these Russian "mountains". Catherine the Great, whose reign of Russia lasted from 1762 to
1796, boosted this custom when she had wheels placed on her sleigh for summer use. Eventually, a French traveler introduced this Russian tradition to
France. The French learned to build a track with a groove down the middle for use in a warmer climate than Russia. French thrillseekers would then fit
a bench with wheels on the groove and proceed to coast down the track sideways.
The major reason roller coasters are known for their thrills is because of physics. Physics is the science of matter and energy and their interactions. In
the early

The History of Roller Coasters Essay
The History of Roller Coasters
Everyone remembers their first ride on a roller coaster, an experience of terror, joy and excitement, as you tower over amusement parks going through
curves and loops. From wooden wonders and steel coasters to twisters and corkscrews, the great rides began with the Russian ice slides in the 17th
century and have developed into the ultimate thrill machines of today. The origins of the roller coaster will probably never be a settled issue, historians
and coaster enthusiasts could argue where it all began (Harris). The success and evolution of the roller coaster and white–knuckle ride has inextricably
mirrored the growth and changing perception of the amusement park industry over the years. A period of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Out of this Dayton relationship and a partnership with Norman Bartlett came the great Flying Turns ride. The prototype ride opened in 1929 at
Dayton's Lakeside Park. In 1930, a larger version opened at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland, Ohio. Miller died in Houston while designing a coaster for
the city of Mexico (Throgmorton 72–93).
Miller held over 100 patents, and he invented many of the safety devices used in today's coasters. One of his contributions was the safety chain dog,
which prevents the train from rolling backward if the lift chain breaks. Miller patented this ingenious device, which is the cause of the clanking sound
heard when the train is pulled up the hill, in 1910. Two years later, Miller patented the brilliant invention of the under friction wheels. Coaster cars have
three sets of wheels: a weight–bearing set riding on top of the track; a set inside the track keeping the cars on course; and a third set – the under
friction wheels under the track, which lock the cars to the track (Harris).
The next pioneer to be looked at would be Fredrick Church, who along with Harry Traver created two of the most terrifying and extreme rides ever
built, the Cyclones and the Bobs. These two coasters became notorious and most feared due to their "killer" reputation because of all the injuries and
fatalities that occurred on them, but society was still enthused with the rides in light of the tragedies. There is not much print out

My Favorite Mistake
My favorite mistake was having curiosity, the curiosity to experience something for the first time. Curiosity is a beautiful thing that can do great
things or do things that can change your life. I have done a lot of mistakes that were caused by my urge to see what would happen if... or I wonder....
This particular mistake was just one that you can never really forget ,but if you did something would remind you. My mistake was having the curiosity
of riding a roller coaster.
My first experience of riding a roller coaster was a somewhat traumatic one. I didn't just hop on the roller coaster realize it was fun, and continue
trying new roller coasters. My first time riding a roller coaster is was one that I remember every time I go to an amusement park, see a roller coaster, or
something like that. After I went on the roller coaster it just ruined my day and my view off amusement parks. Now I wish that I listened to my gut
and never went on the ride.
It was a warm day at Knott's Berry Farm I was with my family and my brother wanted to go on almost every ride. We walked around for a bit and while
we did my brother was just going on rides one after another after another. My mom didn't want to go on any neither my dad and my sister was too
small. This left us an option, either let my brother only go on rides around where we walked or have me go with him and have him ride every ride he
can find while dragging me along. Now at this moment I was tired of walking around but I was too scared to go on any of the rides, so I didn't know
what to do. My dad told me that I had to choose if I was gonna be bold and go on a ride or know another chance missed. Curiosity got the best of me so
I went on the next ride that my brother wanted to go on. Luckily for him it was Silver Bullet, unfortunately for me it was Silver Bullet. If you don't
know Silver Bullet is one of those rides were your feet are dangling while going pretty fast and going through loops. So as you can probably tell I was
scared.
We got on the ride quickly there was no line and I was scared, like about to pee myself scared. We all got strapped/buckled in and the ride started, it
started climbing the first hill to then drop us onto whatever came next.It seemed like

Personal Narrative: My Life As A Roller Coaster
I always had a fascinating fear with roller coasters as a child. Whenever I went to any amusement parks with my friends, I never dared to go on any
roller coasters with them. It was a type of perpetual horror for me. I would have never gotten over it had it not been for my childhood friend Dean.
Dean was the daring, loyal, and confident type of person, but can be frighteningly irrational at times. His personality made him the direct opposite
of me who was rather shy at the time. As if it was fate, this lead to him helping me overcome my fear of roller coasters. It was during one of my

It was extremely breezy and the air had a heavy smell of ozone. I looked down and noticed that we were extremely high up on a decaying,
multicolored tower. However, the most conspicuous figure was a network of railing, which was constricted like a snake that was slithering in front of
me. Fear instantly started to grow in me as I stood dumbstruck staring into the serpent. The conductor signaled at me and Dean to get on the roller
coaster seat, but I wouldn't budge one bit. Dean immediately knew what was wrong and said (as best as I can remember it), "Sherwin, you can't
let this piece of baloney scare you. Remember the riders that went on it before? Did you hear them? Yes! Those were screams of joy! We humans
live for this kind of adrenaline and I feed on it! Listen, in life, you got to be daring and seize every single opportunity you have. You have to do the
things other people wouldn't even dream of doing. This is one of those opportunities! Take life by the reins and drive it!" After this speech, I was so

Five years later, my ride on the Silver Bullet has still been one of my dearest memories from my childhood. Ever since then, I had adapted some of
Dean's personality traits such as being overly audacious and had overcome my fear of roller coasters. Anytime I feel anxious before doing anything, I

After security we went to ghost town. Then we did the pledge of allegiance, pretty wierd starting off with the pledge of allegiance. When we
finished it was time for the first fun thing we did, We went to a replica of a train station and train. The train station was fun until a robber came I
was so scared I face was pale as a marshmallow. At first I thought it was real, but it was fake. Our class got to see how people made candle in the
1800s. So first you get a rope then you dip it in wax and let it cool in a bucket of cold water, pretty simple, but here's the hard part you have to dip it
in that about one billion times. That's an exaggeration but you know what I mean. Next our class went to find out how to make a horseshoe if you

Knott's Berry Farm: A Short Story
Wow Knott's berry farm! Just thinking about the towering rides gives me goosebumps. For the first time in a while my family was on a trip to
Knott's Berry Farm! I hope the place is not like Disney Land, uhh boring. My dad drove up to the park and I didn't think that the rides would be as
big as they were. Guess everyone was right about the park.I walked through the front entrance I just had to try them all, but you know amusement
parks you have to walk everywhere. Me, my sister, dad, mom, all of us went on the baby rides first because my little sister had never been on a ride
before. I did not care as long as we went on Ghost Rider The enormous ride towered over me as I got closer and the wooden style of the ride gave me

The Amusement Park: Past, Present and Beyond

Abstract
Amusement parks are in the umbrella of the hospitality industry. One of its goals is to provide entertainment for all guests. It has been that way since
the beginning and has been advancing ever since. If anyone had to say it the best, it will have to be the father of the amusement parks, Walt Disney.
"Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy" (GoodReads). He understood that how important amusement parks are,
how keeping the original charm that the guest grew to love and advancing that park to make the guests continue to enjoy the park for years to come.
Understanding the past, present and future of the amusement park will show how these parks have lasted for years and years.
Keywords: Amusement park, advancing
The Amusement Park: The Past, Present and Beyond
One of the reason I am studying Hospitality is for the amusement parks. I love the thrill, the excitement and my favorite part, the food. The amusement
park is not only rich in entertainment but also in history, present and advanced ideas for the future.
Beginning of the Park. The "first" thought of the amusement park started in the middle ages. They had fairs and carnivals, but parks as a whole were
brought into trend in the 19th century. These events were called pleasure gardens and trolley parks that had began in the United States and Europe. Since

Descriptive Experience Of Roller Coasters
#Roller coasters are mainly recognized for the thrill. When I was younger I was always fascinated by the bright colors that they represented. A
variety of rides caught my attention but I was always afraid to get on the highest roller coasters. From what I remember as a child my family and I
visited multiple amusement parks such as Six Flags, Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland. All those ravishing places impacted my curiosity about roller
coasters stability. Since I was only an adolescent my curiosity arbitrary sparked on its own it was only until then when I began to think differently.
Although I was too afraid to ride the highest roller coasters I was primarily curious about the height, velocity, and thrill excitement.
#One of my main concerns of these rollercoasters was the height they all incorporated with each other. It appeared to me like skyscrapers left to right
in a threesixty circular motion. These roller coasters were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would construct these
enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I stared at them continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up.
Acrophobia is significantly the fear of height, which I appeared to been having every time I visited an amusement park. My family habitually attempted
to give me motivation so my fear of heights wouldn't make me uncomfortable. In addition, one of the countless days I visited the parks I saw a young
boy around my

Personal Narrative: My Trip To Las Vegas
I was offered the opportunity to go to San Diego, California from July 4–11th. I was proud to accept, anyways it only a week. Although, It was 1,241
miles away from home which was about 18 hours away. My uncle came over to talk to my mom and give her all the details on what we would be
doing. Day one... We would depart from the house at noon and arrive in
Gallup, NM at about 7 P.M. at slumber at the Quality Inn & Suites. Day two... Las Vegas, NV here we come. We were to wake up and be in the car by
9 A.M. and get back on the road for a six hour car ride. We should arrive in Las Vegas at around 3 P.M. to go walk theLas Vegas Strip. (4.2 miles long)
Then, we would get a good night's rest and get on the road by 10 A.M. and arrive at Eloy's house at about 3 P.M., which gives us enough... Show more

The next day we would go to a place called The Cottages. They were little houses that told about their country and gave sample foods they served
at a local restaurant where ever country they lived in. Then, we went to a street place where they gave samples of everything. All you had to do
was go and try things. (For FREE!!!) The following day, we got to go to the beach! I had never been to the beach. We were going to go to Imperial
Beach and Mission Beach. I liked Mission beach more. I got so excited when I heard that we would get to go to Knott's Berry Farm. I have heard so
much about Knott's Berry Farm. I just couldn't wait to go on vacation!! As we followed everything as planned, we arrive in Gallup, NM and ate at

Period 1
I choose to do California as my state. The reason I choose to do California is because my uncle and aunt live there and it is so much fun there.
They have Disneyland, LEGOLAND, Sea World and San Diego Zoo. They have tons of sports teams such as Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers,
Los Angeles Chargers, and Los Angeles Rams for football. Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels of
Anaheim, and san Francisco Giants for baseball. Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and
Sacramento Kings for basketball.

I like to go there because we will rent a house for a week. The house is on the beach and we bring boogie boards to go on the waves. The water is
very cold but after you get in for a while you get used to it. There are very big waves and you either go under or over or you get caught in the
current. There is very bad traffic in L.A. and you can get caught in it for hours. Some famous people that live in California is Dr. Dre, Arnold
Schwarzenegger, O.J. Simpson, Tyga, snoop Dog, Johnny Depp, and Tiger Woods. Knott's Berry Farm is a great roller coaster theme park. I got
the fast pass and I went on five roller coasters in a row. The last one I went on was green with two loops. You start out by going backwards and up.
Then it drops you and you go around half a circle into two loops. It does that three times before stopping. San Francisco is great city. The roads go
in zig zag because it is so hilly and if you go straight downhill you'll go to fast. They also have the San Francisco Giants whose stadium is facing the
San Francisco Bay in right field. They also have the Golden Gate Bridge. A city in southern California is Palm Springs. It is a retirement city but
some people go just to relax. They have lots of golf communities and tennis courts. California has a vast region of climate. It has deserts in the south
and snow in the north. They have beaches, and mountains. The deserts are scorching during the day and freezing at

Walt Disney Case
9–701–035 REV: JULY 25, 2001 D MICHAEL G. RUKSTAD DAVID COLLIS O The Walt Disney Company: The Entertainment King I only hope
that we never lose sight of one thing–that it was all started by a mouse. –Walt Disney The Walt Disney Company's rebirth under Michael Eisner was
widely considered to be one of the th great turnaround stories of the late 20 century. When Eisner arrived in 1984, Disney was languishing and had
narrowly avoided takeover and dismemberment. By the end of 2000, however, revenues had climbed from $1.65 billion to $25 billion under Eisner,
while net earnings had risen from $0.1 billion to $1.2 billion (see Exhibit 1). During Eisner's first 15 years, Disney generated a 27% annual total 1

The result was Mickey Mouse. When Mickey failed to elicit much interest, Walt tried to attract a distributor by adding synchronized sound–something
that had 8,9 never been attempted in a cartoon. His gamble paid off handsomely with the release of Steamboat 10 Willie in 1928. Overnight, Mickey
Mouse became an international sensation known variously as "Topolino" (Italy), "Raton Mickey" (Spain), and "Musse Pigg" (Sweden). However, the
company was still strapped for cash, so it licensed Mickey Mouse for the cover of a pencil tablet–the first of many such licensing agreements. Over
time, as short–term cash problems subsided, Disney began to worry 11 about brand equity and thus licensed its name only to "the best companies." The
Disney brothers ran their company as a flat, non–hierarchical organization, in which everyone, including Walt, used their first names and no one had
titles. "You don't have to have a title," said 12 Walt. "If you're important to the company, you'll know it." Although a taskmaster driven to achieve
creativity and quality, Walt emphasized teamwork, communication, and cooperation. He pushed 13 himself and his staff so hard that he suffered a
nervous breakdown in 1931. However, many workers were fiercely committed to the company. Despite winning six Academy Awards and successfully
introducing new characters such as Goofy and Donald Duck, Walt realized

Why Do Wisconsin Dells Use Amusement Parks?
Theme and water parks all over the nation are huge attractions during summer vacation each year. The question is out of all the options of amusement
parks in the U.S. which do you pick for your ultimate fun destination. Six Flags, Disney World, Hersheypark, Knott's Berry Farm, Epcot Center, and
many more may come to mind when tossing around ideas for a vacation, but one theme park tops them all. Wisconsin Dells, is an entire city of
amusement parks located in southern Wisconsin and tops the chart by meeting all the requirements for a great entertainment center. Wisconsin Dells is
huge leaving room for a variety of activities, frequent places to rest, and great food. When taking a trip with a large group it becomes painfully clear

My Dad Created A Safe Haven For Me
A baby bird must learn how to flutter their wings in order to fly, but in my case it has taken my nineteen years and counting!
When I "hatched" my dad created a safe haven for me. He was born in a little pueblo in Mexico and migrated to California when he was sixteen. My
dad lived in a garage along with his parents and four of his younger siblings until he graduated high school and attended Cal State Fullerton University
where he met my mother. They had me a year after they married. They both successfully jugged their responsibilities achieved their goals of
graduating, get finically stable jobs and providing a better life for me.
We lived in Anaheim, California it was an amazing place! My childhood home was great. The backyard was big, we had exotic fruit trees, and the
park was just down the street! My favorite tree was our orange tree I was allowed to climb it limbs and sway of the branches cautiously. We also
lived nearby great amusement parks such as Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Soak City, and Adventure City. I loved going to Adventure City with
my dad. There were hardly any long lines and we repeatedly got on a bumpy rollercoaster. My dad also chose this location because of the school. I
actually loved being a Husky! My favorite teacher had a petting zoo in her class; there were lizards, snakes, tortoises, birds and so much more. Every
year she hosted an animal exhibit where students and families can pet and learn about those amazing creatures!
My dad made sure

How Laura Is The Best Relationship With The Most Patients...
Sara spends majority of her days with Laura, socializing her and attending every aspect of Laura's needs. Following are some of the activities: haircuts,
facials, and brings her along while shopping, etc. Although, Sara attempts to teach Laura adult daily living skills (ADL) to promote independence, she
does majority of the activities herself. "We just can't trust her, but I am trying to." Out of everyone in thisfamily, Sara has the best relationship and the
most patients for Laura. Although Sara has a good relationship with her extended family and her friends with whom she tries to keep touch, she has
not been able to do so lately as a result of Laura's needs. Additionally, Sara states, "in the past" when Laura was a child, "when no one can tell that
she was your know, (she wont state it) she was accepted by kids and others and we were able to spend time with friends at various BBQ events and
with our neighbors. We used to have so many things that we did in the neighborhood." Sara was so happy reminiscing about the past. Today, Sara
appears to be isolated, consumed the Laura and her needs, three of their dogs and the immediate household members needs. "I would have loved to
spend time with my friends." On occasion she is able to and at times spends a night over at her family or friends home. She tries to spend time with
her husband, but this is also difficult, "we think and talk about Laura." Chooses not to utilize services offered by the Regional Center to the fullest.

The Walt Disney Company Essay
The Walt Disney Company is one that provides a broad spectrum of goods and services, making it extremely unique. The company divides themselves
into five main categories: Media Networks, Parks and Resorts, Walt Disney Studios, Consumer Products, and Disney Interactive. These five factions do
different things from producing movies to running theme parks. The Walt Disney Company, an oligopoly as few firms exist with the same relevance in
society, continues to prosper and have positive revenue in all recent annual reports. While costs of production may be extreme and expensive, The
Walt Disney Company brings in major profit continuously. Holding a major share of the market, Disney is a very powerful and very relevant company.

While its founder, Walt Disney, worked towards this company for a large portion of his life, the big day for the start of the company was October
16, 1923, when Mr. Disney signed a contract for the "Alice Comedies". (Disney History) While Mickey Mouse is a major figure head for the
company, his first appearance was not until November 18, 1928, when he first appeared in Steamboat Willie.
Currently, Robert A. Iger is the Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company. In Iger's time at Disney, he has been a part of the regaining of
Pixar as a part of the company in 2006 and signing contract deals with Marvel and Lucasfilm. Mr. Iger was the President and Chief Operating
Officer from 2000 to 2005, and then he became the President and CEO in October 2005. Iger has a lot to be proud of. In his biography on The Walt
Disney Company's webpage, a detailed list of the company's accomplishments in Iger's time is posted.
"In fiscal 2013, Disney delivered record revenue, net income, and earnings per share for the third year in a row. During Mr. Iger's tenure, The Walt

Dichotomy Of California Culture Summary

  • 1. Dichotomy Of California Culture Summary As a native born Californian, a person would be able to view both sides of how California culture is expressed. They see the good, and the bad. Mostly, you would see the middle. However, the sunny glamour and ghoulish noir is such a powerful dichotomy that expresses California culture because it is gives us an insight of both the good, and the bad in California. Umberto Eco views places like Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm as a hyperreality. The thought that everything is perfect. It is nothing like the real world. Disneyland is viewed as the "Happiest place on Earth" where people go to get away from reality, and play along with the story. In a sense, this displays exactly what people see in California, a place to get away from every day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On shows such as "Laguna Beach" and "The OC", it is a place for the rich and famous. Commercials that are trying to attract tourists essentially make California look like the place to be. You see the lifestyle that most could only dream about, and want a little piece of it. It shows us the so called glamour that is related to California. On the darker scale of things, the media also brings out the worst in California. With shows like "Cops" that always show the criminals of San Bernardino, to the documentaries on the gangs of California. They make some people believe that California is a terrible place that is full of hooligans and hood rats. The music industry has a huge role in what California culture is seen as too. It gives the vision that Los Angeles is the place to be in order to make it big. It also makes people think that California is a state full of stoners and alcoholics. There is really no in between in the media to show people what life in California is actually like. It is most definitely part of the reason for the dichotomy that California culture is viewed ... Grant At the press conference announcing Euro Disneyland SCA's financial results for the year ended September 30, 1994, CEO Philippe Bourguignon summed up the year in succinct terms: "The best thing about 1994 is that it's over." In fact, the results for the year were better than many of Euro Disneyland's long–suffering shareholders had predicted. Although revenues were down 15 percent – the result of falling visitor numbers caused by widespread expectations that the park would be closed down – costs had been cut by 12 percent, resulting in a similar operating profit to that of the previous year. The theme of each land is reflected in the types of rides and attractions, the costumes of employees, the architectural style of the buildings, and even the food and souvenirs sold within the boundaries of the particular land. Rather than presenting a random collection of roller coasters, merry–go–rounds, and other rides, the Disney parks create an all–embracing experience which envelops the guest in carefully designed, tightly managed fantasy experience such as space flight, a Caribbean pirate attack, a flying ride with Peter Pan, or a race down the Matterhorn in a bob–sleigh. Disney theme parks benefit from the talent and expertise of the Walt Disney "family" of businesses. Parks are designed by the engineers and architects of a wholly–owned subsidiary – WED Enterprises. The themes for the attractions and characters that are featured in them often have their origins in cartoons and live action movies produced by Disney's studios. The parks also benefit from management and merchandising techniques developed over many years at Disney. These techniques have led to tremendous successes. • 5. Remember To Remember My Life I will always remember the Summer of 1973. It was special because my Dad took my sister, brother and I on vacation to visit my Aunt Fina who lived in Orange County while my Mom stayed home with my two younger sisters. It would be the first time I would feel like I belonged and the first and last time we would have Dad to ourselves even if it was for three short days. On Tuesday we packed the yellow 1957 Chevy Bel Air and off we went. The three of us were so excited and Dad who usually wanted everything quiet while he drove surprisingly let us sing and talk and of course we took naps in between. We arrived late afternoon at myAunt Fina's house and she welcomed us and we greeted her and our cousins, Glenn and George. Uncle Glen was a lawyer and did not arrive until late. I do not remember seeing him until the next day. She fed us dinner and the only thing I remember about that dinner was the ranch dressing. It was the best salad dressing I had ever tasted and Aunt Fina bragged that it was homemade and that the secret was the buttermilk. Wednesday came and Auntie Fina already had breakfast ready for us. She made the best pancakes. After we ate we all got into the Chevy and went to Knott's Berry Farm. I remember we had a great time and Dad let us get souvenirs. My older sister got a little brown jar that was a bank with the Knott's Berry farm logo on it, my brother got a train whistle, and I got a stuffed Snoopy dog. The train ride was the best part. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most prominent symbols associated with the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. It is one of the most familiar symbols of independence, abolition of slavery, nationhood and freedom within the United States, and has been used as an international icon of liberty. [1] Its most famous ringing, on July 8, 1776, summoned citizens of Philadelphia for the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Previously, it had been rung to announce the opening of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and after the Battle of Lexington and Concord in 1775. The Liberty Bell was known as the ... [4] In 1839, William Lloyd Garrison's anti–slavery publication The Liberator reprinted a Boston abolitionist pamphlet containing a poem about the Bell, entitled, "The Liberty Bell," which represents the first known usage (in print) of the name, "Liberty Bell." [4] It is not certain when the second crack appeared (the first after the recastings), but the bell was repaired in February 1846. The method of repair, known as stop drilling, required drilling along the hairline crack so that the sides of the fracture would not reverberate. On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of Independence Hall in honor of George Washington's birthday.[5] When the bell was rung,

  • 10. Narrative Essay About Sour Patch Kids March 3, 2017 6:30, I woke up with the bright sun hitting my face. Sweat was already trickling down my face. The sun was ready for a brand new fresh day, I wasn't. I knew today was the day which I strove for so long, the day I get to go to Knott's Berry Farm with my "Band Mates" as I called them. Packed my backpack all up with all sorts of snacks, Skittles, Pringles, Tangy fruit cups which I've always adored for some reason, Sour Patch Kids, and the list goes on. I'm not a glutton, I'll be the first to say that.. I only brought all this because my mother insisted , she didn't want me to get hungry in line or get an upset stomach. I knew that if I ate all of it, I would end up with explosive diarrhea the next 5 minutes though. I had packed my deodorant because I didn't want to smell like a dirty sock basket or anything worse. I brought my eye drops so I can actually see throughout the whole day. There was one big thing that I forgot to pack, something so obvious yet forgetful, Extra Clothing. "How could I forget such a thing? Why won't I just post sticky notes all over my room to remind me of the basic requirementsf? I said as I groaned with frustration. I packed my what felt like a 50 pound instrument into my mother's car. I introspected that I deserved the trip, 4.0, played an instrument for a full year, did extra credit, I didn't give that year my all though. • 12. Gold Rush Dbq Essay The assigned readings provided an interesting view of the diverse groups of people who migrated to California during the Gold Rush in the late 1840s and early 1850s and how they impacted society. The primary sources shared detailed information of how Californian society was grew and developed new rules and regulations for mining operations. The sources also discussed how American pioneers and people from different countries shared their experiences during the Gold Rush. Equally important, as Californian society increased, many Yankee miners became concerned about the arrival of foreigners in California (Textbook, 201). California state legislators enforced the Miners' Licensee of 1850 and 1852 that required foreigners to purchase specific mining licenses in order for them to mine (Miners' Document, 33). ... One of the most interesting first–hand accounts of the Gold Rush came from a woman named Louis Amelia Knapp Smith Clapp or Dame Shirley. Shirley's account provided a detailed view of how life was during the gold mining years in California through her own descriptive personal account (Shirley Document, 171–184). When I saw Steve Martin's book, Born Standing Up, I knew that I had found the perfect one. A memory came to me as I looked at Steve Martin's book in my hands. I remembered seeing The Pink Panther, with Steve Martin as inspector Clouseau. I was six and I had never seen a movie that made me laugh so hard. Paying for Long Beach State College from his Bird Cage wages, Steve Martin took an interest in philosophy. He used his teachings to develop his comedy. He used logic that he learned from Lewis Carroll and rhythmic poetry from E. E. Cummings. Steve Martin never gave up. Throughout college he performed anywhere he could. When his performances were total failures, he learned from his mistakes and kept going. When reading this book, I often found myself laughing out loud. • 15. The Physics Of Roller Coasters Ever since the first commercial roller coaster was built in the United States in 1884, roller coasters have been seen in amusement parks all around the world. These rides, seen in all shapes and sizes, are widely recognized for their thrills. At sudden twists and turns, riders experience large levels of excitement. But what makes a roller coaster so exciting? The answer is physics. In the process of designing roller coasters, engineers use concepts such as Newton's three laws of motion to make loops, corkscrews, hills, and jumps possible. How these concepts are put to work can be seen in examples of roller coasters throughout history. The first forms of the roller coaster were seen in St. Petersburg, Russia as early as the 1600s. Piles of ice were built about 70 feet high, and thrillseekers would slide down wooden, icy ramps built on these Russian "mountains". Catherine the Great, whose reign of Russia lasted from 1762 to 1796, boosted this custom when she had wheels placed on her sleigh for summer use. Eventually, a French traveler introduced this Russian tradition to France. The French learned to build a track with a groove down the middle for use in a warmer climate than Russia. French thrillseekers would then fit a bench with wheels on the groove and proceed to coast down the track sideways. The major reason roller coasters are known for their thrills is because of physics. Physics is the science of matter and energy and their interactions. In the early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The History of Roller Coasters Essay The History of Roller Coasters Everyone remembers their first ride on a roller coaster, an experience of terror, joy and excitement, as you tower over amusement parks going through curves and loops. From wooden wonders and steel coasters to twisters and corkscrews, the great rides began with the Russian ice slides in the 17th century and have developed into the ultimate thrill machines of today. The origins of the roller coaster will probably never be a settled issue, historians and coaster enthusiasts could argue where it all began (Harris). The success and evolution of the roller coaster and white–knuckle ride has inextricably mirrored the growth and changing perception of the amusement park industry over the years. A period of... The prototype ride opened in 1929 at Dayton's Lakeside Park. In 1930, a larger version opened at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland, Ohio. Miller died in Houston while designing a coaster for the city of Mexico (Throgmorton 72–93). Miller held over 100 patents, and he invented many of the safety devices used in today's coasters. One of his contributions was the safety chain dog, which prevents the train from rolling backward if the lift chain breaks. Miller patented this ingenious device, which is the cause of the clanking sound heard when the train is pulled up the hill, in 1910. Two years later, Miller patented the brilliant invention of the under friction wheels. Coaster cars have three sets of wheels: a weight–bearing set riding on top of the track; a set inside the track keeping the cars on course; and a third set – the under friction wheels under the track, which lock the cars to the track (Harris). The next pioneer to be looked at would be Fredrick Church, who along with Harry Traver created two of the most terrifying and extreme rides ever built, the Cyclones and the Bobs. These two coasters became notorious and most feared due to their "killer" reputation because of all the injuries and fatalities that occurred on them, but society was still enthused with the rides in light of the tragedies. • 18. My Favorite Mistake My favorite mistake was having curiosity, the curiosity to experience something for the first time. Curiosity is a beautiful thing that can do great things or do things that can change your life. I have done a lot of mistakes that were caused by my urge to see what would happen if... or I wonder.... This particular mistake was just one that you can never really forget ,but if you did something would remind you. My mistake was having the curiosity of riding a roller coaster. My first experience of riding a roller coaster was a somewhat traumatic one. I didn't just hop on the roller coaster realize it was fun, and continue trying new roller coasters. My first time riding a roller coaster is was one that I remember every time I go to an amusement park, see a roller coaster, or something like that. After I went on the roller coaster it just ruined my day and my view off amusement parks. Now I wish that I listened to my gut and never went on the ride. It was a warm day at Knott's Berry Farm I was with my family and my brother wanted to go on almost every ride. We walked around for a bit and while we did my brother was just going on rides one after another after another. My mom didn't want to go on any neither my dad and my sister was too small. This left us an option, either let my brother only go on rides around where we walked or have me go with him and have him ride every ride he can find while dragging me along. Now at this moment I was tired of walking around but I was too scared to go on any of the rides, so I didn't know what to do. My dad told me that I had to choose if I was gonna be bold and go on a ride or know another chance missed. Curiosity got the best of me so I went on the next ride that my brother wanted to go on. Luckily for him it was Silver Bullet, unfortunately for me it was Silver Bullet. If you don't know Silver Bullet is one of those rides were your feet are dangling while going pretty fast and going through loops. So as you can probably tell I was scared. We were given paperwork, packets, and a plethora of requirements that must be completed by the end of our internship. This was it, I had seized the opportunity and now only one thing remained – what do I want to do? I carefully considered my options – I wanted to pursue something I enjoyed but at the same time wanted room to grow and a respectable salary with it. Considering my love of social science and potential money–making jobs within the field, I decided to intern at the Economics' department at a local metropolitan city hall. Buena Park is one of the entertainment center's in the Orange County region, containing Knott's Berry Farm, a large–scale theme park, a mall, as well as it's very own auto center. This complex cosmopolitan composition of differing backgrounds offered me a unique take on the money–managing and economic development of a modern city. But, like any career, I had to start with ... • 21. Personal Narrative: My Life As A Roller Coaster I always had a fascinating fear with roller coasters as a child. Whenever I went to any amusement parks with my friends, I never dared to go on any roller coasters with them. It was a type of perpetual horror for me. I would have never gotten over it had it not been for my childhood friend Dean. Dean was the daring, loyal, and confident type of person, but can be frighteningly irrational at times. His personality made him the direct opposite of me who was rather shy at the time. As if it was fate, this lead to him helping me overcome my fear of roller coasters. It was during one of my Knott's Berry Farm school field trips with Dean that I started to admire and look up to him. Once we checked our cards through the rusty register, Dean and I... However, the most conspicuous figure was a network of railing, which was constricted like a snake that was slithering in front of me. Fear instantly started to grow in me as I stood dumbstruck staring into the serpent. The conductor signaled at me and Dean to get on the roller coaster seat, but I wouldn't budge one bit. Dean immediately knew what was wrong and said (as best as I can remember it), "Sherwin, you can't let this piece of baloney scare you. Remember the riders that went on it before? Did you hear them? Yes! Those were screams of joy! We humans live for this kind of adrenaline and I feed on it! Listen, in life, you got to be daring and seize every single opportunity you have. You have to do the things other people wouldn't even dream of doing. This is one of those opportunities! Take life by the reins and drive it!" After this speech, I was so overly pumped that I jumped into the seat excitedly to get going. Five years later, my ride on the Silver Bullet has still been one of my dearest memories from my childhood. Ever since then, I had adapted some of Dean's personality traits such as being overly audacious and had overcome my fear of roller coasters. Anytime I feel anxious before doing anything, I always repeat Dean's speech in my mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. The Amusement Park : Past, Present And Beyond The Amusement Park: Past, Present and Beyond Marcenia Milton Monroe College Monday February 29, 2016 Abstract Amusement parks are in the umbrella of the hospitality industry. One of its goals is to provide entertainment for all guests. It has been that way since the beginning and has been advancing ever since. If anyone had to say it the best, it will have to be the father of the amusement parks, Walt Disney. "Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy" (GoodReads). He understood that how important amusement parks are, how keeping the original charm that the guest grew to love and advancing that park to make the guests continue to enjoy the park for years to come. Understanding the past, present and future of the amusement park will show how these parks have lasted for years and years. Keywords: Amusement park, advancing The Amusement Park: The Past, Present and Beyond One of the reason I am studying Hospitality is for the amusement parks. I love the thrill, the excitement and my favorite part, the food. The amusement park is not only rich in entertainment but also in history, present and advanced ideas for the future. Beginning of the Park. The "first" thought of the amusement park started in the middle ages. They had fairs and carnivals, but parks as a whole were brought into trend in the 19th century. These events were called pleasure gardens and trolley parks that had began in the United States and Europe. Since ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Descriptive Experience Of Roller Coasters #Roller coasters are mainly recognized for the thrill. When I was younger I was always fascinated by the bright colors that they represented. A variety of rides caught my attention but I was always afraid to get on the highest roller coasters. From what I remember as a child my family and I visited multiple amusement parks such as Six Flags, Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland. All those ravishing places impacted my curiosity about roller coasters stability. It appeared to me like skyscrapers left to right in a threesixty circular motion. These roller coasters were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would construct these enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I stared at them continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up. Acrophobia is significantly the fear of height, which I appeared to been having every time I visited an amusement park. My family habitually attempted to give me motivation so my fear of heights wouldn't make me uncomfortable. In addition, one of the countless days I visited the parks I saw a young boy around my ... RUKSTAD DAVID COLLIS O The Walt Disney Company: The Entertainment King I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing–that it was all started by a mouse. –Walt Disney The Walt Disney Company's rebirth under Michael Eisner was widely considered to be one of the th great turnaround stories of the late 20 century. When Eisner arrived in 1984, Disney was languishing and had narrowly avoided takeover and dismemberment. By the end of 2000, however, revenues had climbed from $1.65 billion to $25 billion under Eisner, while net earnings had risen from $0.1 billion to $1.2 billion (see Exhibit 1). When Mickey failed to elicit much interest, Walt tried to attract a distributor by adding synchronized sound–something that had 8,9 never been attempted in a cartoon. His gamble paid off handsomely with the release of Steamboat 10 Willie in 1928. Overnight, Mickey Mouse became an international sensation known variously as "Topolino" (Italy), "Raton Mickey" (Spain), and "Musse Pigg" (Sweden). However, the company was still strapped for cash, so it licensed Mickey Mouse for the cover of a pencil tablet–the first of many such licensing agreements. Over time, as short–term cash problems subsided, Disney began to worry 11 about brand equity and thus licensed its name only to "the best companies." The Disney brothers ran their company as a flat, non–hierarchical organization, in which everyone, including Walt, used their first names and no one had titles. "You don't have to have a title," said 12 Walt. "If you're important to the company, you'll know it." Although a taskmaster driven to achieve creativity and quality, Walt emphasized teamwork, communication, and cooperation. He pushed 13 himself and his staff so hard that he suffered a nervous breakdown in 1931. However, many workers were fiercely committed to the company. Despite winning six Academy Awards and successfully introducing new characters such as Goofy and Donald Duck, Walt realized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I "hatched" my dad created a safe haven for me. He was born in a little pueblo in Mexico and migrated to California when he was sixteen. My dad lived in a garage along with his parents and four of his younger siblings until he graduated high school and attended Cal State Fullerton University where he met my mother. They had me a year after they married. They both successfully jugged their responsibilities achieved their goals of graduating, get finically stable jobs and providing a better life for me. We lived in Anaheim, California it was an amazing place! My childhood home was great. The backyard was big, we had exotic fruit trees, and the park was just down the street! My favorite tree was our orange tree I was allowed to climb it limbs and sway of the branches cautiously. We also lived nearby great amusement parks such as Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Soak City, and Adventure City. I loved going to Adventure City with my dad. There were hardly any long lines and we repeatedly got on a bumpy rollercoaster. My dad also chose this location because of the school. I actually loved being a Husky!
