Marketing Plan KSA: Accredited Business Knowledge Company: Towson University Athletic Department (Internship) What I’ve Done: I was asked by my supervisor to create a marketing plan for the upcoming gymnastics season at Towson University. This was one of my first assignments during my internship this semester. I was asked to come up with as many creative and innovative ideas for marketing gymnastics here at Towson University as I could. I researched other gymnastics and college athletics marketing ideas and tailored them to fit Towson’s population. What it Means: This was the first project I completed on my own without any guidance from others. Creating marketing plans for athletics is something that I could see myself potentially doing one day. Doing this project changed the way I look at sports forever. I now see sports more from a marketing perspective, especially at the college level. My supervisors took my suggestions under advisement when creating the marketing campaign for gymnastics upcoming season. Where it Leads: I had always loved sports, but I had never really considered finding a job in the sports industry, that changed with this marketing plan. I quickly realized upon completing this assignment that a job in sports marketing is something I would love to do. Ideally I would love to one day develop marketing and recruiting plans for college athletics. This assignment is an example of exactly something I would be doing in a position like that. I found coming up with ideas and using the creative side of my brain very enjoyable, which is another thing I had not really gotten to do in the past.
