Foursquare is a location-based social networking application launched in 2009 that allows users to "check in" at venues using their mobile phones. Users earn points and badges for checking in at different locations and can become the mayor of a venue if they check in there the most. While the app raises privacy concerns about revealing users' locations, Foursquare addresses this by allowing users to adjust their privacy settings and remains dedicated to closing security loopholes.
