Piscicides are chemicals used to kill fish. They are commonly used to eliminate dominant fish species in bodies of water so they can be repopulated with different fish. Piscicides are also used to combat invasive and parasitic fish species. Examples of commonly used piscicides include rotenone, saponins, TFM, niclosamide, and Antimycin A. There are four chemical piscicides registered for use in the United States. Piscicides can be used in various aquatic environments like lakes and rivers.
