Chinese cuisine has a history spanning
thousands of years and is roughly divided into
eight culinary regions, including Hunan, Anhui,
Shandong, Szechuan, and Cantonese.

3.  Cantonese cuisine is also known as Yue
cuisine, and stems from the Guandong
Province, located on the coast of the South
China Sea. The dishes from this region are
known for their slightly sweet flavor and
tender consistency, usually seasoned with
light sauces such as hoisin, plum, oyster,
and sweet and sour. Spices such as white
pepper, five spices, and star anise may also
be used in Cantonese cuisine.

renowned dishes from the Guandong
region include sweet and sour pork,
Cantonese fried rice, and steamed
vegetables served with oyster sauce.
Additionally, the region produces
steamed eggs, stewed beef brisket, and
zhaliang, a rice sheet wrapped around a
deep-fried stick of dough, usually served
with soy milk.
