2. I’m Mark Burnell and I’m a professional horse dentist.
By all means please get your horses’ teeth checked regularly.

3. Depending on what you feed your horse
dictates how often their teeth need to be
checked. Here we have Lucy with a crank
noseband on with a flash. There are some
dangers with fitting these too tightly.

4. This works very much like a block and
tackle with a leather, comes back, doubles
over and the buckle’s over the other side.
These can be over tightened if you are not
too careful.

5. She’s got an eggbutt French snaffle which
is a little too big for her and we can see by
how much play is in this bit that there’s a lot
of steel that you’ve paid for that really
doesn’t fit this pony. So the bit needs to be
a little narrower.

6. These nosebands once again are a
specialist item and you need to seek
professional advice before you start putting
these on and fitting them incorrectly. It
could cause some discomfort and affect the
performance and behaviour of your horse.
