4. Surface Treatment of Ti Dental Implants
I. Surface Roughening :
1. Plasma Spraying:
• using plasma torch at high temp.
• Injecting Ti or HA powder.
• Extremely rough surface.
• Particles release due to tensile
stress.
2. Grit-blasting:
Blasting with hard particles as:
• Alumina ( A2O3)
• Ti oxide particles.
• Ca-phosphates: as
• HA & TCP
3. Acid-etching:
Etch with strong acids as:
HCL,H2SO4 and HF
Technique:
• Dual-etching.
• Treating in fluoride solution.
Hydrogen embrittlement.
4. Anodization:
Immersion in 40% nitric acid, electric
current is passed through metal
Micro pores, nano pores and nano tubes
