Week 1
Description and Analysis of the Hawthorne Study . Describe
how the components of the Hawthorne study are
incorporated in current human resource functions? What
was the main idea behind this study? How have you been
impacted by the components of this study in your current or

Dominant Cultures and Subcultures . Contrast the dynamics
between dominant cultures and subcultures either in a work
setting or in society. Explain why it is important to
understand the impact of culture. Give an example where
you demonstrated your awareness and or openness to
understanding a cultural difference. Explain how these
differences underscore the need for understanding diversity.
From the information given, develop guidelines for
embracing diversity. Respond to at least two of your peers
for this posting and offer some additional ideas of your own.
Homeland /Organizational Culture Analysis. Submit a two-three
page APA formatted paper, using a minimum of three
references, describing the culture of one of the following (the
United States of America or your current or past place of
employment).
Your paper should address each of the following topics:

Secondly, describe how these functions shape values and

Week 2
Cognitive and Non-Cognitive Abilities. Describe the cognitive
and non-cognitive abilities relating to Emotional Intelligence.
Provide an example of how you might use EQ in your daily

with suggestions that might work for them within their daily
lives.
ERG Theory and Maslow's Hierarchy. Describe the similarities
and differences between the ERG Theory and Maslow's

performance issues result from underlying motivational

Week 3
Self Esteem and Self Efficacy. Explain the dynamics of how
self esteem affects self efficacy? Provide an example of an
internal or external force that impacts your self-efficacy?
Respond to at least two of your peers for this posting and
provide recommendations to extend their thinking.
Communication and Team Building. Discuss the importance
of identifying norms within a team? Why is clear
communication considered an essential element during team
development? Provide an example when you were a team
member and the lack of communication caused significant
problems for the team. Respond to at least two of your peers
for this posting.
Conflict Identification and Resolution. We live in a very
complex, and culturally diverse society. When we bring
individuals together from diverse backgrounds in a work
environment conflict can arise when expectations are not
4. realized or met. Rather than hoping conflict will go away, this
paper will explore and identify the reasons for conflict and
how to successfully address them in a team environment.
Write a 3-4 page APA formatted paper, using a minimum of
three references, identifying and describing the components
of conflict.
Briefly describe a conflict within an organization or team with
which you are familiar.
o Identify the source(s) and level of the conflict and support
with evidence.
o Describe the steps taken to resolve the conflict or, if it is an

Week 4
Leadership Style. What style of leadership is the most
effective in leading an organization? Is it important to be
well-liked, or are results all that matter? Cite examples that
support your conclusions. Respond to the observations of at
least two of your peers for this post
A Culture of Ethics. Based on the readings for the week,
would you say that Steve Jobs was an ethical leader? State
your rationale. Are you an Acolyte or a Rejector? Why?

The Ethics of Leadership. Robert Nardelli was heavily
criticized for his leadership style and methods he used during
his tenure as CEO of Home Depot. Using your readings for
this week along with outside research, describe his style of

Understanding and Coping with Change. Change is
everywhere, but yet very few people seem to embrace the
concept. We are for the most part creatures of habit and
follow daily routines. When change occurs our activities and
thought patterns are disrupted.
Write a 3-5 page APA formatted paper, using a minimum of
two references, summarizing the internal and external
factors contributing to an individual’s resistance to change.
