1. Case Study Cotecna Testing Lab for Interview (Business Analyst for reference)
Note Answer need to be verified by experts, I had prepare financial model based on my
knowledge.
A big MNC is wishing to set up the shop in India leveraging on the economic growth of the
country. The company is in the Service industry of Testing and Inspection and has following
information about the market:
1. Indian market is of value of about 500Mio USD in terms of Inspection and Testing Services
2. The key market segments are Agriculture Commodities, Mineral Commodities, Consumer
products, food testing and other segments, each accounting for 10%, 30%, 10%, 10% and rest
respectively
3. To be a credible player in the market it is a must that the company should set up at least 3
offices covering Indian Geography and invest in at least setting up one lab in India. The expected
lab should be about 10000 sq ft area and will cost about INR 7000/- per sq ft, as a thumb rule.
You are assisting a CMD and your role is to prepare a draft business case for setting up this
business in India. While making the business case following are your guidelines
1. Total investment should not exceed 3 Mio USD
2. Forecast should be for next 5 years in terms of P&L
3. You have to achieve positive NPV considering WACC of 12%
4. Ideally break even should be achieved in 3 years and EBITDA positive in 2nd year
5. Please clearly explain your assumptions about revenue forecast and costs
6. Kindly explain the organisation structure and cost of personnel you will like to hire

Theoy expect you to come up with a XL sheet with all possible considerations such as
capex/opex/working capital need/Financials/cash flow/Expenditure/Org Structure/Hiring plan/all
possible costing etc.
The PPT has to be slides like (1. Observation , 2.Assumptions taken , 3 findings, 4. BA
Recommendation and 5. Summary).

They will be quite keen as how you arrive on data and how you have mapped. You can make all
assumptions and your case study would be based on the details given + assumptions.
