The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

✅What is C++ Programming?
C++ is an enhanced and extended version of C programming language, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 as part of his Ph.D. project. Bjarne developed what he called ‘C with Classes’ (later renamed C++) because he felt limited by the existing programming languages that were not ideal for large scale projects. He used C to build what he wanted because C was already a general-purpose language that was efficient and fast in its operations.

Information TO CANNABIS: A Handbook http://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=buy weed online uk for that trendy
Shopper (Twelve, $27).
It had been just a make a variation of your time and effort upfront of an entire new era caught up Although
utilizing the renegades of my period, many of whom begun buying large on gardening by tucking their herb in
between innocuous houseplants, hiding it in sunny corners of backyards or growing it beneath basement lights.
Leafly, positioned in Seattle, calls by yourself “The complete entire world’s most vital cannabis facts beneficial
resource.” Tens of thousands and thousands cease by its Web site and cell apps each month. The guidebook
assures “clarity and understanding” with the plant which has been throughout For The key reason why that
conclude Using the Pleistocene epoch.
There’s little or no laid back again about Massive Ag pot, a whole new form of cultivated landscape that may soon
lengthen from sea to shining sea. In the paean to cost-free-present industry capitalism, Leafly factors out that
legalization in sure states has introduced some “broad enlargement” in plant supplies — growers can now settle
on amongst many many sorts, which incorporate White strain and Durban Poison — along with elevated
exceptional and decreased costs, due to sector efficiencies and Amounts of Competitors. Indica strains are
sedative, sativas are invigorating, and hybrids drop someplace in between. What winds up inside your stash jar are
categorized as being the bouquets of a girl plant. The authors describe how cannabinoids “get the job done their
medicinal magic” (magic turning into a superb internet marketing and advertising method) And just how THC has
an effect on us. The pot remaining smoked at Woodstock Nearly certainly highlighted THC concentrations of all-
all around 3 p.c; Using these days’s genetic modifications, “effective styles clock in at Pretty much 30 percent.”
Kief, terpenes, decarboxylation and vaping concentrates: There’s considerably more evocative fetishistic language
connected to these buds than most People within a farmer’s earth. You’ll come upon cooking hints and sweetness
techniques, even suggested munchie pairings. The wellness results of cigarette smoking cigarettes are frivolously
involved: There’s no clear website website link to lung cancer, but definite “Bodily airway injury” and compromised
cardiovascular perform. I don’t see how properly being nuts groove on lungsful of polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbons. The e book may need included no under a paragraph about the consequences of marijuana round
the setting up brains of adolescents. But that’s a bummer. For all those fascinated, I like to recommend Kevin P.
Hill’s “Marijuana: The Unbiased Genuine truth About the earth’s Most favored Weed.”
I Track down my bliss in Japanese gardens, and textbooks regarding this refined and evolving type of art maintain
coming and coming. Sophie Walker’s THE JAPANESE Backyard garden (Phaidon, $sixty 9.ninety five) is really an
bold examine, proven inside a framework that’s each of Those people historical and thematic (“Tea as well as the
Yard,” By means of case in point, which looks like a issue Thomas Mann may have relished). Its classy pictures are
accompanied by impressively eccentric essays. In a single of my favorites, the architect John Pawson writes about
the chance to “truly feel an intimate connection with boundless landscape — as though It really is passing
Through you so you thru it” — over the smallest over the Kyoto gardens that entranced him. He captures,
exquisitely, the equilibrium and rhythm of relocating through these rigorously managed Areas. The sculptor Anish
Kapoor weighs in with sights about gardens that don’t just reveal indicating but relatively “seem into” indicating.
As well as mathematician Marcus du Sautoy will get definitely noticeably out with the strength of fractals in The
individuals ferns and rocks so thoroughly proven during the Japanese back backyard garden — all this tied to the
Pixar usual “Up.” I want this reserve could possibly be three times as prolonged and as significant.
If that Strawberry Cough pressure during the “Leafly Guideline” has loosened your tongue, It might be really

up by making use of a Attraction OF GOLDFINCHES: As well as other Wild Gatherings (10 Speed, $14.ninety 9), by
Matt Sewell. Beguiling watercolors depict land, air and water creatures, along with an obstinacy of buffalo, an
unkindness of ravens in addition to a smack of jellyfish. Sewell’s descriptions are fantastic — describing when
gaggles of geese grow to be skeins of geese, or why swirling hawks counsel boiling h2o within a kettle. I am able
to just hear him shouting to his wife or husband and daughters that “We've a bellowing of bullfinches in regards

and with your complete globe where by we live — such as the landscapes of our purely all-natural pure setting.”
What follows is really an exhaustive accounting with the trees, shrubs, herbs and in addition other vegetation in
Tolkien’s Heart-earth — the crops of our atmosphere and people, very similar to the White Trees of Gondor,
within the elven setting. Tolkien was a writer who confessed to keeping “Substantially in enjoy with crops and over
all trees”; the Judds Observe that vegetation show up on nearly Just about every and every Web-site site of “The
Hobbit” and “The Lord inside the Rings.” I identified myself transported by their dialogue of “plant communities,
as altered by hobbits, individuals, elves or angelic beings.” Those people Hobbits wound up “amazing
agriculturalists,” growing hemp for its fiber, sustaining lawns and gardens along with battling weeds. Get heed, ye
excellent firm polluters of now, lest you direct us for your gates of the defiled land of Mordor. I’m Even though

In decades earlier, Robert Llewellyn has blown our minds Though utilizing the indelibly thorough pictures in
“Observing Trees,” “Observing Flowers” and “Viewing Seeds.” Throughout the Residing FOREST: A visible Journey
To the guts from the Woods (Timber, $40), he has teamed up with Joan Maloof, the founder and director of the
Outdated-Development Forest Community, to check out within the thriller and magic of our woodlands. A great
deal too normally, we take into account without any consideration what their preface phone calls the “skinny and
exquisite membrane” that's our biosphere.
Llewellyn and Maloof flip our gazes up into your forest Address, where we find out tasteful herons and snazzy
bluebirds in flight. We peer into your eyes of eagles, that will see for miles, and surprise, combined with the
authors, irrespective of whether or not trees are fragile to starlight. As Llewellyn and Maloof remind us, trees are
“the lungs from the land,” and for that reason they’ve been woefully underappreciated; they’re the easiest system
We all know of to suck up the pollution that’s warming your entire Earth.
Llewellyn also reminds us inside the sheer magnificence of our ecosystem as he catches the fetal curl of the leaf in
midfall. Amongst the most alluring of his illustrations or images would be the golden portraits of larval
salamanders. But there’s not greater than ample in this article about insects: I hope which will be deemed a
upcoming job, one which’s sorely desired. We aren’t executing Practically greater than adequate to safeguard our
fellow creatures, whether rooted or roaming. And we have been unsuccessful to take action at our private peril.

quantity, the botanical engravings of André and François-André Michaux, together with other treasures held
throughout the renowned assortment Together with the Large apple Botanical Garden’s Mertz Library. Its director,

cork oak or maybe the shaggy surface location with the Bristlecone fir.
And who, who, who's all over within the forests with us immediately after we linger earlier dusk? The owls,
naturally. For many years, I’ve been endeavoring to established eyes around the owls from the trees close to my
dwelling, to no avail. Superb horned duets wake me far from a audio relaxation. Occasionally I'm able to’t resist
tipping my head back yet again and signing up for in the calls. On the other hand the owls continue on staying
elusive.
So thanks, David Tipling, for your sumptuous, endearing and terrifying illustrations or photos of these uncanny
creatures from your ENIGMA With the OWL: An Illustrated Normal Historic previous (Yale University, $forty). And
Mike Unwin’s authoritative descriptions on the owl method of existence are interesting. When not on the lookout
(snakes, frogs and voles hold from their beaks), they preen adorably, peer from nest holes in the trunks of trees or
plunge due to snow in pursuit of prey. They've got these remarkable round faces, with disks regarding their eyes
that purpose like satellite dishes to seize and immediate an astonishing range of seem for his or her ears. And
people eyes! The golden orbs beneath the furrowed brow of The nice horned owl are mesmerizing. If I could, I’d
fly absent getting a parliament of owls.
Inside the interim, I stay earthbound, but which incorporates its pleasures much too. Apples, To begin with. Each
autumn, I haunt regional orchards, desperate to make a decision bushels of my really possess. And annually
presents additional varieties, so I’m gonna continue on to keep a duplicate of APPLES (Countryman,

lot of to set off any specific’s munchies. In these web pages, we learn the Macoun “just doesn’t sing if picked just
before … late September or Oct” Which Pink Female obtained’t change to mush inside a pie. Yepsen warns that
larger apples mature a great deal more immediately, For that reason if you choose for them at the food market

“corky” brown texture regarding the pores and pores and skin of specific types simply because “russets are
generally spicier and also have a lot more character in comparison to the widespread apple.”
You by no means know what will give anyone a hankering to again backyard. Just one younger gentleman of my
acquaintance, who doesn’t much like to acquire Filth underneath his fingernails, has started to become enamored
of succulents. And it seems that evidently they’re the stylish crops of the design earth appropriate this moment.
The primly tasteful PRICK (Mitchell Beazley, $19.ninety nine), by Gynelle Leon, gives useful suggestions on
deciding on, styling and caring for cactuses and succulents — Along with the emphasis on styling. Every and each
plant Using this type of primer is shown nested in a straightforward pot, normally banded using a carefully clear
white stripe. Even though the pricks in their spines will harass, as that is unquestionably their mom character,
someway the fairly presentation would make The entire firm experience neatly workable as a substitute to messy,
providing a comforting illusion of Regulate towards the neophyte. But just keep out right up until that prickly pear
outgrows its elegant crib.
Speaking of elegant, does the Bay Space now retain the best focus of creatively refined gardens inside the region?
It would seem so, judging Using the charming pictures of Marion Brenner in Non-community GARDENS Along
with the BAY Place (Monacelli, $sixty). The challenging-Operating workforce of Susan Lowry and Nancy Berner has
Previously posted books about New Jersey and Hudson Valley gardens; this volume is particularly satisfying in its
breadth and assortment. Admire the looser, bigger interpretation of Japanese aesthetics within the courtyard back
again back garden overlooking San Francisco or Probably the dreamy light filtering from the historical trees
throughout the St. Eden Back garden in near proximity to Oakville, with its gentle gray mounds of olive, lavender
and teucrium — a small amount of Provence. The pool round the Berggruen home goes suitable into my
“aspiration file.” An artful moss selection, improbably displayed in packing containers and on logs, graces a porch
in Glen Park, when steel and concrete planters snake up a cliff on Telegraph Hill to obtain a staggering watch.
Californians bring in inspiration from within the earth — but then they do their own personal concern, to stunning
influence.
Just just in the event that this turns out to become your Wintertime season of discontent, fire up the glue gun,
unfurl the crepe paper and switch on on The good Artwork OF PAPER Bouquets (Watson-Guptill, $20 five). I kid
you not: Tiffanie Turner’s creations are exquisite. Her D.I.Y. Guidance for handmade marigolds, roses, dianthus and
daffodils are meticulous. How calming an activity this looks becoming will most probably mirror anywhere your
cravings tumble around the indica-sativa scale; I personally wouldn’t try this in the home. But I'll permanently
admire the angelic creatures amongst us who will be able to pull poppies out of paper. They’re Just about as
miraculous as These beauties we so hopefully coax out through the soil, period just soon after technologies, as a
result of quite a few extra summers of affection.
