AIESEC was first introduced to
Hong Kong in 1967 by a lecturer in
Department of Economics. AIESEC-
LC-HKU
LC HKU was established as the first
Local Committee of AIESEC in
Hong Kong.
Then we were affiliated to Econ
Soc (now called EFS) as a
subcommittee. We were thus
called AIESEC-Econ
soc/AIESEC-EFS in HKU.

Our non-independent status was aware by AI and MC

We were asked to submit an Independent
Plan to AI in Asia Pacific Congress 1993
5. 1993 to 1994
In 1994, the “Three- Year Motion” was
adopted to force AIESEC to be separated
from EFS within 3 years. For this motion

HKU voted Against, MC, CU and BU all
voted For motion carried!
6. The Three-Year Motion
AIESEC-HKU will have its

9. 1996 to1997
After the discussion with EFS concerning
this problem, AIESEC and EFS would be
combined again in the next session for the
sharing of resources. It was believed that it

was the best solution for the society to
continue and develop.
AIESEC-EFS (for session 97-98)
10. 1996 to1997
In the MC Formal Meeting dated on 10/11/97,
a motion had been passed with the following actions
actions,
1. AIESEC-HKU would be downgraded immediately
2.Impose penalty on AIESEC-HKU
3. Compulsory for AIESEC-HKU to be independent
within one year, otherwise the membership of
AIESEC-HKU will be disbanded
11. 1997 to1998
Due to the violation of
independence, AIESEC-HKU was
not recognized as the cabinet of
AIESEC-HKU by MC at that time.
In 1998, a motion concerning AIESEC-
HKU status had been passed, as follows:
“AIESEC-HKU be subjected to be deprived
of its voting right in any general meetings.
12. Affiliation to Independent Clubs Association (
p (ICA) became

the final decision for the future status development for
AIESEC-HKU.
It is hoped that AIESEC-HKU can be affiliated to ICA in 1999.
Meanwhile, the relationship between AIESEC and EFS has
deteriorated. Conflicts arose, and the affiliation process
needed to speed upup.
13. 1998 to 2000
Since Feb 99, AIESEC-HKU formally
AIESEC HKU
applied for the affiliation to ICA
On 14/4/99, ICA Council Meeting was called

From the Council Paper of ICA CRC, it
adopted NEUTRAL stance towards our
affiliation.

and 6 Abstain. So AIESEC-HKU was not
accepted to be p

In November, AIESEC-HKU had made another
attempt to the affiliation of ICA b t failed with 7

votes for, 8 votes against.
15. 2000 to 2001
Due to our violation to SU regulations, our society chop
was seized and kept by SU and EFS. The relationship has
been worsened.
AIESEC had made the third attempt to
affiliate to the ICA.
It turned out to be another failing attempt
with 8 votes against and 6 votes for.
16. 2001 to 2002
AIESEC had successfully passed the affiliation
motion with 8 against, 8 abstain and 20 for.

17. 2002 to 2006
After a few years of complying with procedures in ICA, we
are f ll affiliated to ICA.

18. 2006 to 2007
We applied to ICA about changing our timeline to align
with national timeline.
