Common Area
Area Security
Following the studyโs findings, none of the residence for the elderly are
fitted with an alarm system, but at least they have a phone so that they
can contact their neighbours in case of an emergency.
An alarm system, an emergency button, and a phone are all very
helpful, especially for elderly people living alone at home
Overall, the security aspect received less attention among the
responents, but they were satisfied with their security situation at home.
For instance, elderly do not perceive a threat to them from using carpet
in the living room, such as the risk of falling or potential mobility
issues for wheelchair users.
