Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( Pslf ) Essay
As of today Americans are facing a outstanding debt of 1.3 trillion dollars in student loans alone and
it 's up to 43 billion students to pay all of that back in full. Our most recent graduating Class of 2016
student is coming out of college owing an average of $37, 172 in loans, making an increase of 6%
since 2015. Which is significant amount of growth to have within such a short period of time. Many
of these students are unable to make their monthly payments whether it be because of the
tremendously high interest rates or because they simply don 't have the sufficient funds to pay their
monthly quotas. But many student are also not aware of different options that are available to them
that help eliminate their student loans in full or to repay their loans in a very doable and manageable
manner. In this paper I will be discussing and focusing on the three most beneficial and commonly
known options which are, public service loan forgiveness (PSLF) , the four different type of income
based repayment (IBR), and refinancing your loans.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness also known as PSLF is a program designed for federal student
loans borrowers who enter a full–time in public–service jobs. The PSLF forgives the remaining
balance on the students loans only if the first 120 monthly payments have been made while
employed full time by a qualified employer. This means you are working for any non–profit
organization, federal government position, or are serving full time for the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Risk Protection
Each business is in charge of the wellbeing and security of the representatives while they are
grinding away. His essential obligation is to set up a protected workplace in order to avoid work
environment mishaps. In spite of taking fitting preventive measures, if any worker gets harmed, the
harmed has every one of the rights to sue the business making him legitimately at risk for the
damage. In such cases, the business needs to repay the workers for expenses of hospitalization,
alongside the lawful expenses. Since mischances are unavoidable at working environment, it is
sensible with respect to the business to buy protection that empowers him to meet the expenses of
pay.

Guaranteed money related security: The protection from a presumed insurance agency ensures you
by offering a spread for an extensive variety of dangers. Having taken this protection, you require
not stress over any expenses in the event that any representative meets with a mishap. Managers'
risk protection, in this manner, spares organizations from getting to be bankrupt.
Financial help to representatives: This protection not just spares the business from bearing the pay
sum, additionally empowers workers to have money related help with times of need. Acquiring
bosses' obligation protection and showing it in the workplace, bestows certainty and a feeling that
all is well with the world in representatives. It guarantees them that despite the fact that something

Federal Student Loans
iii. Case Study
A comparative analysis with the U.S. experience will be introduced to clarify why a sharp increase
in student–loan defaults happened after the financial crisis of 2008 and how it is going to end as
well as identify default prevention initiatives to alleviate high default rates. The resources from the
federal student aid data center, the data available through the Integrated Postsecondary Education
Data System (IPEDS) and Baccalaureate and Beyond (B&B) of the U.S. Department of Education
can be used for this comparative analysis. Based on comparison of different types of federal student
loans and in–depth reviews of the process and status of loan defaults, following guiding questions
relate to student–loan debts will be answered:
1) Why education debts rise significantly in the U.S. and whether borrowers with student loans are
worse off over time or not?
2) Does a "student loan bubble" necessarily lead to financial hardships of student borrowers?
3) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4) How student loan forgiveness functions, especially for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
Program and Teacher Loan Forgiveness?
5) How student loan bankruptcy rules function?
6) What happened to the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program, and why should it be
ended?
Through the case study, this part will then discuss how to implement early intervention on student
borrowers who may potentially default, the pre–feasibility study of bringing in Income–Based
Repayment Plan to China, and improvements in student loan forgiveness program. Options to
change the interest rate and other terms in student–loan agreements will also be discussed.

Question 2
Income tax assessments are computed for a tax year of assessment. They are based on a taxpayer's
total income for the year from all sources and it does not include income exempt from income tax.
Taxable Persons
Persons resident in the UK for a tax year are charged to income tax on their total income for that
year (includes both income arising in the UK and income arising overseas). There are two
exceptions to the rule; some forms of income are fully exempt from income tax; and UK residents
whose permanent home is not in the UK may claim that the income they make overseas should be
subject to UK income tax only to the extent that the income is remitted to the UK. Non–UK
residents are allowed to pay income tax on only their UK income. Income tax is payable by: *
Adults, on their own income and on their share of partnership income * Children, if they have
sufficient income to pay tax * Trustees, on the income of a trust or settlement * Personal
representatives, on income arising from the estate of a deceased person.
Some individuals and organisations are generally exempt from income tax subject to various
restrictions and exemptions. They include: * Companies (pay corporation tax) * Registered charities

Geoffrey Chaucer's The Shipman's Tale
The structure and characters of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Shipman's Tale warp the traditional in order
to create a thriving network for exchange. Stylistically, this particular tale utilizes common
conventions of the fabliau: sex, trickery, and poetic justice. That being said, The Shipman's Tale is
completely void of an overall moral message–a key element in the genre. Instead, there is a focus on
the presence of male and female characters who work to fulfill an individual agenda, and on the "
[exploration of] each other's intentions in cloaked terms... [and the avoidance of] direct
commitment" (Finlayson 342). Chaucer rejuvenates the fabliau's structure, which allows the
Merchant, his wife, and the Monk to each "assume the mercantile roles of borrower, lender, seller
and purchaser of goods" without seriously harming their relationships (Finlayson 343). As a result,
the meaning of the tale is not embedded in the fulfillment of norms of this genre, but in its
displacement of these conventions by focus on the exchanges between the characters. John
Finlayson points out that since "licit and illicit sex are paralleled with honest and dishonest trade...
[The Shipman's Tale] only recognizes the non–ideal world of suspended moral laws, lustful
hedonism and deceit", thus establishing the immoral series of events between the Monk, the
Merchant, and his wife as an "acceptable reality" (349). This common ground between the three
characters creates a community where the interchangeability of

Essay On Sierra Leone
People in the Sierra Leone have massive problems and sad stories of what they have seen in their
lives. During time of Sierra Leone war, many rebels attacked people in the villages and other places.
This left people with nothing to have and several families died or were lost. Numerous amounts of
people in Serra Leone live in the refugee camps, which they have faced their own struggles whether
you see them or not. This makes their lives harder and it is not easy for them to express their
feelings. Meanwhile, this causes a plethora of people to live with fear and a small hope of living in
the country. The leaders and security guards in Sierra Leone tries to get domestic needs for the

Obviously, one of the most important of these basic needs is food. There are 154,000 refugees in
Sierra Leone, and the distribution of food in Sierra Leone camps is difficult for those who are in
charge of providing food for the refugees. Providing food to all refugees in the camp is one of the
most difficult jobs one can do. The main food served in the camps is corn meal. Many refugees are
sated to this kind of food. This posses a problem for many refugees because most of them do not eat
it while others are tired of it. UNHCR uses many farmers to plant food in the gardens but farmers
also have difficult time preparing and digesting the corn meal. People who provide food use this as
opportunity to have sex with women and young girls in the camps, Helen Kamara one of the refugee
in Sierra Leone said, "The secretary–general Of our camp told me that, if I did not make love to him
or give him one of seven girls, aged 22 years and 7 months, they would not supply us with food"
(Paye–Layleh). Sometimes food gets delayed, these refugees would do anything it take to have food
and that would be sex with the secretary–generals or aid workers. These generals and aid workers

Student Debt For College Students
As decades pass by, obtaining a college degree seems more necessary to get a decent job after
graduating. Therefore, high school students feel the pressure to get into a good university and to get
the highest degree possible, even when they have no plan on how to pay for it. Financial aid has not
kept up with growing tuition prices, and taking out student loans seems almost impossible to avoid.
According to research, "About 40 million Americans hold student loans and about 70% of bachelor's
degree recipients graduate with debt." (Market Watch) The U.S currently has a total of 1.3 trillion
dollars of outstanding debt. There is a ton of controversy on how to solve this issue, but there are
progressive solutions schools and college kids need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational shaming is when society looks down on you if you decide to take a route in life that
does not involve college, or does not involve a 4 year degree or higher. It has also come to a point in
this society, if you do not go to college right after high school and do not graduate within 4 years
you are looked down upon by employers. We put a college degree over productive work career.
When employers should start looking to see if you are eligible for a laboring job (and other careers
that do not need schooling) by your learning potential, motivation, integrity, and mental ability
instead of a piece of paper that tells your education and job experience. "We are setting up future
generations for disaster if we don't help make a change. We are starting to believe that the American
Dream is all about a white collard job and a college degree." (Ted Talks, Dusty Wunderlich) By
2020, 19 million more college graduates will enter the workforce but only 7 million of those require
a degree. (Ted Talks) Since every person is different not everyone will be ready for college at 18 and
not every student will have the fast learning ability or money to graduate in 4 years. Changing the
way society thinks is way easier said than done. Students can start taking part of this way of
thinking and help spread awareness by writing letters to congressmen, holding rallies, and by
writing and signing

Key Personal Tax Points : The Savings Tax Rate
KEY PERSONAL TAX POINTS
The savings tax rate for 2015/16 is 0%.
Until 5 April 2016, banks and building societies will pay interest net of tax.
PAYE codes for the marriage allowance will have new suffixes "N" and "M".
Individual savings accounts have become more flexible.
Savings rate of income tax
The tax rules for savings income have become something of a nightmare.
In an age when taxpayers and their advisers clamour for simplicity, these rules seem to be ever more
complex with tax rates, exemptions, reliefs, and incentives thrown in every year with apparent gay
abandon.
While interest rates remain low, those with little savings capital could almost be forgiven for giving
up and hoping for the best.
Few taxpayers derive much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Combined with the increased personal allowance to £10,600, for many people on incomes below
£15,600, savings income will be free of tax.
But if they have a lot of non–savings income, the administrative problems and complexity stay with
us.
For the tax year 2015/16, banks and building societies will continue to pay interest net of basic rate
tax to individuals unless the person completes a form R85 for each institution where they have
savings.
This form can be used only if the individual's income is less than his personal allowance. If it is just
above it, tax is deducted and must then be reclaimed either by completing a form R40 or through the
self assessment tax return.
Future changes
April 2016 will bring two further big changes for savings income:
Banks and building societies will begin to pay all interest gross. The 20% income tax deduction will
disappear and with it form R85. After that, HMRC will include any taxable savings income in the
PAYE code and collect the tax through the PAYE system or self assessment.
A new personal savings allowance will be introduced. Basic rate taxpayers will receive up to £1,000
of savings income tax free, while higher rate taxpayers can receive up to £500 tax free. Additional
rate taxpayers will have no tax–free savings allowance.
Marriage allowance
Since 6 April 2015, individuals have been able to transfer part of their personal allowance to

What is PAYE?
PAYE or Pay As You Earn is the system of collecting tax or pension within a tax year, which starts
on 6 April of the present year and ends on 5 April the next year.
Three parties are involved in the entire process – you, your employer and HMRC. If there are
discrepancies in your tax code or the tax deduction itself, you can complain to either your employer
or HMRC.
The frequency with which tax is deducted depends on how often you will get paid, whether it's
weekly or monthly. Some pensions, however, are only taxed every quarter of a year or once a year.
How does PAYE work?
HMRC will be responsible for calculating your tax code and then providing it to your employer.
When required, the agency will send you a PAYE coding notice that shows how your code number
was worked out. If you didn't receive any, you can ask one from HMRC.
Based on the tax code, your employer will then calculate how much tax will be deducted from your
pay or pension. Whatever deductions made will then be paid over to

Sustainable Economic Growth And The New Zealand Economy Essay
An introduction that describes what sustainable economic growth is and why it is desirable for
households, firms and Government
Sustainable economic growth can be seen an improvement of the economy to optimise New
Zealand's quality of life for citizens by maintaining price stability (inflation) within the range of 1–
3% with a focus on 2% and to reduce unemployment in New Zealand, with resources (land, labour,
entrepreneurial and capital) used to their fullest capacity to produce goods and services.
Sustainable economic growth as defined by Economics Online UK suggests "Sustainable economic
growth means a rate of growth which can be maintained without creating other significant economic
problems, especially for future generations. There is clearly a trade–off between rapid economic
growth today, and growth in the future", there is also a trade off between the materialistic standard
of living and environmental and resource depletion in the future as some non– renewable resources
may be used up in the process of producing a greater quantity of goods that has been demanded
when growth occurs in the New Zealand economy.
Sustainable economic growth is desirable for Households of New Zealand as it generally means that
unemployment levels would decrease from the current rate of 5.6%, resulting in a higher disposable
income for New Zealand Households as their incomes would increase from receiving a larger
portion of income, resulting in an increase in aggregate demand of goods and

The Pros And Cons Of Student Debt
"College is part of the American Dream, it shouldn't be a part of a financial nightmare for families"
– Barbara Mikulski, United States Senator. Student debt is a rising issue in America; 43.3 million
students are in debt at this moment, and this number increases every year. In other developed
countries, education is free or low cost and works well economically. Countries like Germany,
Sweden, Australia, Denmark, and France have extremely affordable college tuition, so what do these
countries do to make education so affordable? What do American politicians and citizens find
wrong with free or lower cost college education? How should America go about solving this issue

People who support free college believe it will benefit the entire nation. As technology industries
grow, as well as the need for employees with higher education; a college–educated workforce would
be able to fill these desperately needed job positions, which in turn will make America's economy
grow stronger. Billions of dollars could be added in the economy if these jobs were filled. People
tend to spend more money when they have little debt and higher wages. It could also mean that the
government would take in a lot of extra tax revenues, which could go a long way toward paying for
free public colleges.
With affordable college, people would have more freedom to expand talents, try new ideas, and
pursue the lives they want. Without worrying about crushing debt, these people would have more
freedom to live their lives to the fullest. That could lead to happier citizens, which would make our
nation more prosperous as a whole. This is known as Happiness Economics, which states that
people who are happier work harder, and that places with happier people "had higher retail sales,
which improves the economic climate and helps lessen the effects of a recession", according to a
study done by Gallup–Healthways Well

Argumentative Essay On Student Debt
Student Debt. Few words drive more fear into the hearts of parents and teenagers alike.
With college graduates now owing more than $1.5 trillion in debt and nearly five million Americans
in student loan default, borrowing for higher education is quickly spiralling out of control.
Universities are one of the best places for wholesome instruction, but what good are these
institutions when no one can pay for their resources? In order to alleviate the problem, many
politicians have proposed plans to make all public college tuition free for students under a set
income threshold. Although it may seem like just the solution that is needed, making college
tuition–free, even for a select group of students, is not the best option and would fail to solve the
fundamental cause of the student debt crisis in the first place. ... Show more content on

In just fiscal year 2014 alone, public colleges collected over $58 billion in tuition, nearly double the
$31 billion the government already spends on grants for institutions. To simply waive $58 billion
would necessitate a dramatic increase in government spending to compensate, and, by extension, a
dramatic increase in taxes. Not all students at all colleges have troubles with debt, either. The
majority of students who have problems paying off their student loans are those who attended small
for–profit schools or community colleges, as those who attend more expensive schools, despite
borrowing more, often end up with higher salaries once they enter the job market. Moreover, what
would be done about those who have already graduated from community college with debt on their
shoulders? Waiving tuition for all public universities would not resolve these problems; instead, the
burden would merely be shifted to taxpayers, hindering economic growth and leaving those with
existing debt out of

Patriot Act Pros And Cons
USA Patriot Act
After the devastating attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, this country scrambled to
take action to provide future protection. New techniques had to be developed to protect the nation
from the menace of terrorism. Along with the new techniques came the decision to enact laws that
some believed crossed the threshold of violating civil liberties this county and those living in it were
guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. "On October 26, 2001, the Public Law 107–56,

The Decision For El Salvador 's Supreme Court
Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different
levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups,
and individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen
article, co–written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El
Salvador's Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights
violations. The ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is
unconstitutional due to violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is
particularly important because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from
civil unrest. The amnesty law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and
"effectively covers all crimes committed by both sides during the war" (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck).
However, due to its contestable legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador's
Supreme Court decided to rule on the amnesty's law constitutionality for the final time. This article
is relevant in the context of increasing global concern over human rights. More recent debates in
international relations discuss the importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty,
especially in a society in which national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly
undermined. Multiple levels

Chaucer is more readable to modern readers and its expressions and grammars are simpler than the
Middle Ages, Anglo–Saxon and Anglo–Norman literatures. It contains "sondry" Middle English
terms that are way different from the expression in nowadays. Such as "sondry" stands for
"various", "eek" means "also" and "ilke" is "same", "fader and mooder" refers to "fathers and
mothers" and "woot" is "know". And the Canterbury Tales could be more understandable with the
help of the Oxford English Dictionary. Among all these Middle English expressions in this tale, the
very and simple word "dette" caught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apparently, this pilgrimage of the wife of the Bath is the seeking journey for her sixth husband and
she is still looking for a short–term and aspiring good deal. From her tongue, we can see the value
of matrimony is just the benefits form each side and women's asset is mere the fairness and the skill
in bed. The most ironic thing is that women could be prosperous, carefree, make the best of their
youth only when they standoffishly perceive the affair between men and women as a profitable
trading business, and they could make the best out of their marriage by the feminine

Jeff Karpell Research Paper
Jeff Karpell was a standout outfielder for the Fairleigh Dickinson baseball program. His freshman
campaign he posted the longest hit streak by reaching base safely in seven consecutive games.
Karpell also led all freshmen in hitting with a .313 batting average. Karpell really stood out as a
sophomore earning All–Northeast Conference honors with a .337 average, which put him 3rd on the
team and 9th in the NEC. During his senior season Karpell threw out 9 base runners, which is good
enough to put him first for most single season outfield assists. Karpell's efforts are still shown in the
FDU record books where he ranks: 7th in single season hits (64), 7th in triples (4), 3rd in runs batted

Tax Policy in Nigeria
INTRODUCTION
A tax policies represent key resource allocator between the public and private sectors in a country. It
is usually imposed on individuals and entity that make up a country. The funds provided by tax are
used by the states to support certain state obligations such as education systems, health care
systems, pensions for the elderly, unemployment benefits, and public transportation. A nation's tax
system is often a reflection of its communal values or the values of those in power. To create a
system of taxation, a nation must make choices regarding the distribution of the tax burden–who
will pay taxes and how much they will pay–and how the taxes collected will be spent.
In Nigeria, the taxation system dates back to 1904 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CHALLENGES OF THE DRAFT NATIONAL TAX POLICY
A thorough examination of the current national taxation policy reveal that it is comprehensive when
compared with earlier attempts at designing a policy. However, there are some perceived challenges
that this draft is likely going to face because of the experiences of past taxation laws. These
challenges are as follows:
Administrative Challenge. Experience has shown that the institutional capacity to administer taxes
effectively is woefully lacking in this country. Procedures, reinforced by third party audits, appear to
ensure that taxes are paid and received albeit with potentially serious and costly internal lags.
However, Nigeria lacks capacity to assess the reasonableness of the returns submitted by taxpayers,
including costs and staffing, skills, pay scales, and other funding, and computer and Information
Technology (IT) infrastructure. Meanwhile the current draft has not put in place an administrative
strategy.
Compliance Challenges. A recurring problem with PIT Nigeria is the non–compliance of employers
to register their employees and to remit

Ebola Culture
Hi Dr. Dispiritu, Thank you for asking an interesting question regarding the cultural tradition of the
other countries, which causing the spread of Ebola virus through unsafe burial culture before
burying the body of their loved ones. Educating the public, relating to the transmission of Ebola
virus, is essential to prevent the spread of the disease, especially to people with traditional and
culturally structured burial ceremonies. Based on the Ebola virus health experts, the infected Ebola
virus dead body should be cremated to prevent contracting the disease. However, various
communities are against cremation procedure, and unable to report the affected dead body to their

In my opinion, to be able to practice a security measure of burial tradition, and better perception of
the community regarding the nature of the spread of Ebola virus (through close contact of an
affected individual who is living as well as dead body) is by educating the traditional or religious
leaders. Traditional/ Religious leaders are well– respected by their community, and they have a
significant influence of communicating to the public about Ebola virus as well as in preventing the
spread of the disease. Based on Manguvo and Mafuvadze (2015), there is evidence in an affected
community that inaccurate information provided to traditional /religious authorities can hamper
preemptive measures of contracting Ebola virus as compared to well– informed leaders. Moreover,
effective and well–educated leaders able to recognize qualified individuals in their neighborhood
that can be instructed, and supply the protective material for burying the affected body in an
accepted and cherished burial tradition to a designated burial space. I hope I was able to satisfy your

The proctors from private schools revealed that their colleagues from public schools are too rich to

you accept such a small amount?" the following verbatim summarizes all their ideas:

Pay As You Earn Policy Analysis
Pay as You Earn Policy Today's society is filled with more access to information through education
than ever before. People take the information they gather and piece it together to create perspective,
and further develop it into knowledge that feeds progress in all areas of life. As society has
advanced both technologically and culturally, the value and demand on education has been directly
impacted. Its impact on egalitarian civilization and contribution to individualism in the United
States is critical (Kraft & Furlong, 2015, pp. 342). To achieve the most our culture has to offer,

For our country to maintain economic growth, citizens must have the opportunity to have
competitive, well–paying jobs. It has become increasingly evident that the best chance at achieving
this goal is through higher education. Though education is necessary for a wide range of career
options, its costs "tie the hands" of many low–income families in two ways: it leaves them with no
option to attend higher education at all or leaves them with debt upon graduation. As previously
mentioned, once demand is increased in an area, costs follow suit. With costs rising as family and
student income stasy the same, payments become overwhelming (Issues for Debates in American
Public Policy: Selections from CQ Researcher, 2018, pp. 257). This creates a burden on students
attempting to get their degree. The price of a college education has increased faster than inflation in
recent years, and inflation has caused fees to skyrocket (Kraft & Furlong, 2015, pp. 361–362). In

Aging Population In Australia Essay
There is no doubt that the ageing population is a subject which has attracted much attention of
Governments and communities in the world. Even in Australia, it is considered as one of the most
crucial challenges which will have to confront in the next 25 years ( Hugo, 2014). Population ageing
is defined as a change in the age structure of a country toward older ages. This is the repercussion of
many elements such as the declining fertility rate, baby boom period and advanced technology in
medical and healthcare extending longevity. While a number of studies have been done into proving
this trend having several negative effects, it can be argued that there are many beneficial impacts
both on national economy and society. This essay aims to look at the positive influences of older
population on the workforce, then the Australian Government Budget, and finally the community.

Essentials Of Ethics: Controversy For College Students
Essentials of Ethics Many perspectives can be taken when considering what fair is. As with most
things, this too applies with the pay as you earn(PAYE) plan. The multiple angles and directions to
view this plan lead to much conflict and controversy that keep this a trending topic, but even so,
many people disagree on the degree of forgiveness this plan should permit. When looking at the
legality of the PAYE plan, the first question a person should ask himself is whether a college student
should be one hundred percent responsible for the actions taken when they signed papers for student
loans. By signing their names, the students formed a contractual agreement stating that they were
taking the on the burden of those debts. On the flipside, one could say that students were not fully
aware of the responsibility and magnitude created therein. I believe these two sides are the greatest
aspects of rights, and should be taken into account when deciding what rights students should be

question even though it seems to come from an unsympathetic source. Why would I present it then?
The main reason I present it then is the "forgiven" payments are not dissolved, but rather shifted
unto the taxpayers. A question that must also be answered is do students need to be held accountable
for their schooling costs, and should the student be fully responsible for debts accrued. Is it
necessary for taxpayers to pick up the tabs of education for those who are not able to pay their

Chaucer's Canterbury Tales Essay
The Powerful Wife of Bath
In Geoffrey Chacer's The Canterbury Tales we are introduced to 29
people who are going on a pilgrimage to St. Thomas a Becket in Canterbury.
Each person is represented to fit a unique type of behavior as shown by
people during the medieval ages. My attention was drawn to the Wife of
Bath through which Chaucer notes the gender inequalities. Predominantly,
women could either choose to marry and become a childbearing wife or go
into a religious order. Women were seen as property. Women during this
period of time, had limited choices when it came to societal roles. The
Wife of Bath exonerates the accepted roles of society, reflecting women's

She is confident about her knowledge of love, virginity and marriage (after
all she has been married five times). Just as men use the bible to justify
women's oppression, so did the Wife of Bath. She states that double
standards for women are deeply rooted in society. The Wife of Bath
addressed and dispels the justification for multiple marriages through
biblical figures and stories.
"I woot wel Abraham was an holy man,
And Jacob eek, as fer as evere I can,
And eech of hem hadde wives mo than two,
And many another holy man also" (p.118, ll. 61–64)
The Wife of Bath relied on the bible to justify her unaccepted views, but
when the bible did not favor her views she simply disregarded it.
The Wife of Bath is a widow and therefore it is assumed that she
would dress rather conservatively. This is not the case for the Wife of
Bath. Her clothing is quite flamboyant with scarlet red leggings, soft new
shoes, broad hat, and spurs on her feet. She is obviously not dressed in a
typical manner or style of other women in her time (Hallissy 42).

Personal Experience: Guest Lecturer
Overall I found that the series of guest lectures, during the semester, helped me to decide on a clear
career path for myself. Prior to the guest lecturer series I would never have taken Revenue as a
career option and I believed practice was only a stepping–stone to the world of academia. Now I can
see there are several career options available to me upon completion of the masters in taxation and
the non–academia world of tax has interesting aspects. I found it very interesting the differences
between Revenue, private practice and academic speakers. What stood out most to me were the
differences between Revenue and private practice. Reflecting on all of those who spoke with the
class, Feargal O'Rourke, Pat Molen and Leonard Durac were the three that stood out. The
differences that were most prevalent were the way each speaker spoke and the confidence they
portrayed, what each body do, the promotion opportunities and the day–to–day work carried out in
each body.
From the three speakers chosen I found Feargal to be the most confident and to have a lasting
impact on the class as a whole. When the session was over, every classmate I spoke to made a

  • 7. Geoffrey Chaucer's The Shipman's Tale The structure and characters of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Shipman's Tale warp the traditional in order to create a thriving network for exchange. Stylistically, this particular tale utilizes common conventions of the fabliau: sex, trickery, and poetic justice. That being said, The Shipman's Tale is completely void of an overall moral message–a key element in the genre. Instead, there is a focus on the presence of male and female characters who work to fulfill an individual agenda, and on the " [exploration of] each other's intentions in cloaked terms... [and the avoidance of] direct commitment" (Finlayson 342). Chaucer rejuvenates the fabliau's structure, which allows the Merchant, his wife, and the Monk to each "assume the mercantile roles of borrower, lender, seller and purchaser of goods" without seriously harming their relationships (Finlayson 343). As a result, the meaning of the tale is not embedded in the fulfillment of norms of this genre, but in its displacement of these conventions by focus on the exchanges between the characters. John Finlayson points out that since "licit and illicit sex are paralleled with honest and dishonest trade... [The Shipman's Tale] only recognizes the non–ideal world of suspended moral laws, lustful hedonism and deceit", thus establishing the immoral series of events between the Monk, the Merchant, and his wife as an "acceptable reality" (349). This common ground between the three characters creates a community where the interchangeability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Financial aid has not kept up with growing tuition prices, and taking out student loans seems almost impossible to avoid. According to research, "About 40 million Americans hold student loans and about 70% of bachelor's degree recipients graduate with debt." Educational shaming is when society looks down on you if you decide to take a route in life that does not involve college, or does not involve a 4 year degree or higher. It has also come to a point in this society, if you do not go to college right after high school and do not graduate within 4 years you are looked down upon by employers. We put a college degree over productive work career. When employers should start looking to see if you are eligible for a laboring job (and other careers that do not need schooling) by your learning potential, motivation, integrity, and mental ability instead of a piece of paper that tells your education and job experience. PAYE codes for the marriage allowance will have new suffixes "N" and "M". Individual savings accounts have become more flexible. Savings rate of income tax The tax rules for savings income have become something of a nightmare. In an age when taxpayers and their advisers clamour for simplicity, these rules seem to be ever more complex with tax rates, exemptions, reliefs, and incentives thrown in every year with apparent gay abandon. While interest rates remain low, those with little savings capital could almost be forgiven for giving up and hoping for the best. Few taxpayers derive much ... But if they have a lot of non–savings income, the administrative problems and complexity stay with us. For the tax year 2015/16, banks and building societies will continue to pay interest net of basic rate tax to individuals unless the person completes a form R85 for each institution where they have savings. This form can be used only if the individual's income is less than his personal allowance. If it is just above it, tax is deducted and must then be reclaimed either by completing a form R40 or through the self assessment tax return. Future changes April 2016 will bring two further big changes for savings income: Banks and building societies will begin to pay all interest gross. The 20% income tax deduction will disappear and with it form R85. After that, HMRC will include any taxable savings income in the PAYE code and collect the tax through the PAYE system or self assessment. A new personal savings allowance will be introduced. Basic rate taxpayers will receive up to £1,000 of savings income tax free, while higher rate taxpayers can receive up to £500 tax free. Additional rate taxpayers will have no tax–free savings allowance.

Three parties are involved in the entire process – you, your employer and HMRC. If there are discrepancies in your tax code or the tax deduction itself, you can complain to either your employer or HMRC. • 15. Sustainable Economic Growth And The New Zealand Economy Essay An introduction that describes what sustainable economic growth is and why it is desirable for households, firms and Government Sustainable economic growth can be seen an improvement of the economy to optimise New Zealand's quality of life for citizens by maintaining price stability (inflation) within the range of 1– 3% with a focus on 2% and to reduce unemployment in New Zealand, with resources (land, labour, entrepreneurial and capital) used to their fullest capacity to produce goods and services. Sustainable economic growth as defined by Economics Online UK suggests "Sustainable economic growth means a rate of growth which can be maintained without creating other significant economic problems, especially for future generations. There is clearly a trade–off between rapid economic growth today, and growth in the future", there is also a trade off between the materialistic standard of living and environmental and resource depletion in the future as some non– renewable resources may be used up in the process of producing a greater quantity of goods that has been demanded when growth occurs in the New Zealand economy. Sustainable economic growth is desirable for Households of New Zealand as it generally means that unemployment levels would decrease from the current rate of 5.6%, resulting in a higher disposable income for New Zealand Households as their incomes would increase from receiving a larger portion of income, resulting in an increase in aggregate demand of goods and ... It could also mean that the government would take in a lot of extra tax revenues, which could go a long way toward paying for free public colleges. With affordable college, people would have more freedom to expand talents, try new ideas, and pursue the lives they want. With college graduates now owing more than $1.5 trillion in debt and nearly five million Americans in student loan default, borrowing for higher education is quickly spiralling out of control. Universities are one of the best places for wholesome instruction, but what good are these institutions when no one can pay for their resources? In order to alleviate the problem, many politicians have proposed plans to make all public college tuition free for students under a set income threshold. Although it may seem like just the solution that is needed, making college tuition–free, even for a select group of students, is not the best option and would fail to solve the fundamental cause of the student debt crisis in the first place. ... To simply waive $58 billion would necessitate a dramatic increase in government spending to compensate, and, by extension, a dramatic increase in taxes. Not all students at all colleges have troubles with debt, either. The majority of students who have problems paying off their student loans are those who attended small for–profit schools or community colleges, as those who attend more expensive schools, despite borrowing more, often end up with higher salaries once they enter the job market. Moreover, what would be done about those who have already graduated from community college with debt on their shoulders? The Decision For El Salvador 's Supreme Court Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co–written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador's Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and "effectively covers all crimes committed by both sides during the war" (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador's Supreme Court decided to rule on the amnesty's law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty, especially in a society in which national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly undermined. • 32. Aging Population In Australia Essay There is no doubt that the ageing population is a subject which has attracted much attention of Governments and communities in the world. Even in Australia, it is considered as one of the most crucial challenges which will have to confront in the next 25 years ( Hugo, 2014). Population ageing is defined as a change in the age structure of a country toward older ages. This is the repercussion of many elements such as the declining fertility rate, baby boom period and advanced technology in medical and healthcare extending longevity. While a number of studies have been done into proving this trend having several negative effects, it can be argued that there are many beneficial impacts both on national economy and society. However, it is worth noting that a lot of the time and effort associated with forming a limited company can be negated by buying an 'off–the–shelf' company or by using a reputable company registration agent. For a public limited company (PLC) it is also compulsory, under the Companies Act 1985, to have a trading certificate in order to commence trading, this is issued once a minimum share capital value of £50,000 has been established. In setting up a limited company, it has the immediate benefit of being able to raise capital much more easily than a sole trader or partnership either by banks normally being more willing to lend or by selling shares (this is especially the case for PLCs being able to sell shares publicly) 3) In setting up business as a partnership, Gurpreet and Samuel will first want to draw up a Partnership Agreement to clarify the structure of the partnership , for example each partner's responsibilities. This will be important in helping to avoid conflict in the future as well as help to resolve disputes. As set out in the Partnership Act 1890 each partner, in principle, will have the authority to enter the partnership into agreements and contracts.

  • 41. Essentials Of Ethics: Controversy For College Students Essentials of Ethics Many perspectives can be taken when considering what fair is. As with most things, this too applies with the pay as you earn(PAYE) plan. The multiple angles and directions to view this plan lead to much conflict and controversy that keep this a trending topic, but even so, many people disagree on the degree of forgiveness this plan should permit. When looking at the legality of the PAYE plan, the first question a person should ask himself is whether a college student should be one hundred percent responsible for the actions taken when they signed papers for student loans. By signing their names, the students formed a contractual agreement stating that they were taking the on the burden of those debts. On the flipside, one could say that students were not fully aware of the responsibility and magnitude created therein. I believe these two sides are the greatest aspects of rights, and should be taken into account when deciding what rights students should be given when considering whether the legality of the PAYE plan. ... Chaucer's Canterbury Tales Essay The Powerful Wife of Bath In Geoffrey Chacer's The Canterbury Tales we are introduced to 29 people who are going on a pilgrimage to St. Thomas a Becket in Canterbury. Each person is represented to fit a unique type of behavior as shown by people during the medieval ages. My attention was drawn to the Wife of Bath through which Chaucer notes the gender inequalities. Predominantly, women could either choose to marry and become a childbearing wife or go into a religious order. Women were seen as property. Women during this period of time, had limited choices when it came to societal roles. The Wife of Bath exonerates the accepted roles of society, reflecting women's attempt to gain ... Prior to the guest lecturer series I would never have taken Revenue as a career option and I believed practice was only a stepping–stone to the world of academia. Now I can see there are several career options available to me upon completion of the masters in taxation and the non–academia world of tax has interesting aspects. I found it very interesting the differences between Revenue, private practice and academic speakers. What stood out most to me were the differences between Revenue and private practice. Reflecting on all of those who spoke with the class, Feargal O'Rourke, Pat Molen and Leonard Durac were the three that stood out. The differences that were most prevalent were the way each speaker spoke and the confidence they portrayed, what each body do, the promotion opportunities and the day–to–day work carried out in each body. From the three speakers chosen I found Feargal to be the most confident and to have a lasting impact on the class as a whole. When the session was over, every classmate I spoke to made a comment on how impressive he was and that it was no surprise he was promoted so quickly. I believe this is a result of working in private practice, as it is a competitive in nature and clients will want a confident person working for them.
