1. Project 3 – Galleria Optura Next Gen
Description:
Galleria is a 3rd-party tool that is used to aid analysts in making assortment decisions.
Analysts look at 6 key characteristics when considering the assortment mix: Brand,
Flavor/Scent, Form, Size, Product Type, and Package. Through the manual analysis of these
characteristics in conjunction with other key performance factors, Client may decide to carry
or not carry particular items to their assortment. Currently 3 vendors are sending the details
to Client for Galleria analysis. As part of this project we need to retire the process of one of
the existing vendors and also incorporate the new vendor along with existing vendors.
Tasks
Need to identify impacted COBOL-DB2 programs are used by Galleria in given
modules
Need to identify the screens that may require the enhancement
Need to make sure that no impact in the existing flow due to this new change
Responsibilities:
Requirement capturing

Project 4 – Harmonized Sales Tax
Description:
Currently Canadian provinces British Columbia and Ontario are issuing PST (Provincial Sales
Tax-7%) and GST (Goods and Service Tax-5%) for the items. They want to introduce the HST
(Harmonized Sales Tax-12%), which is combination of PST and GST. This would be going live
on July 1st 2010.
Tasks
Need to identify impacted programs in given modules
Need to identify the DB2 tables and design, optimize the query
Need to make sure that no impact in the existing flow due to this new change
Responsibilities:

Project 5 – Flexible Spending Account card project
Description:
IRS has issued various tax favored cards such as Health Saving account card (HSA), Health
Reimbursement card (HRA), Flexible Spending card (FSA) etc. These cards can be used at the
various retail store locations to purchase qualified medical expenses.
Currently accepts the FSA cards at the stores for items labeled as FSA in the POS system and
the reimbursements are automated. HSA cards are also currently accepted in all US stores.
But there is no item level validations happening for HSA at stores. Customers have to
manually submit the sales receipt for reimbursement to 3rd party. Client is not directly
involved.
Prior to 2008, HSA and FSA were mutually exclusive and could not both be offered.
In December 2007, IRS introduced a new combo health plans with both HSA and *LIMITED*
(perhaps vision and dental only) FSA components.
These Combo (HSA + FSA) healthcare plans require an Rx sub-sub-total, as they need to
make sure OTC (Over the Counter items – need not have a prescription) items are not
purchased under the limited FSA purse. The plans can use the additional Rx sub-sub-total to
ensure the HSA purse handles the Rx portion of purchases, while the FSA purse handles the
non-Rx OTC portion
Tasks
Need to identify the FSA items that need to be send to store
Need to identify the DB2 tables and design the query
Need to make sure that no impact in the existing flow due to this new change
Responsibilities:
Requirement capturing
Mainframe high level Design and low level design
Estimation
Coding and unit testing
System testing
Production deployment
Post and pre deployment activities
DURATION: Mar 2009 to Oct 2009
Software Used: VS COBOL II, JCL, VSAM and DB2
Roles: Team lead & Developer
Project 6 – Handheld Application Uplift
Description:
3. For SOLO ordering we will need to send items with Locally Assigned Codes (LAC) to the store
CT2020 database. Locally Assigned Code – a number system 4 generated UPC code used to
represent items that have not been assigned a manufacturer UPC. LACs are used for items
that are typical not sold at the store such as material, expense, and resale items. An example
of a resale item is meat primal that are ordered and then cut to make meats sellable items.
Tasks
Need to identify the business requirements to send the items that are missing in
store
Need to identify the DB2 tables and design the query
Need to append the missing items with existing flow
Need to make sure that no impact in the existing flow due to this new change
Responsibilities:
Requirement capturing
Mainframe high level Design and low level design
Coding and unit testing
System testing
Production deployment
Post deployment activities
DURATION: Mar 2009 to Jun 2009
Software Used: VS COBOL II, JCL, VSAM, CICS and DB2
Roles: Designer & Developer
Project 7 – CAMS
Description:
The scope of the Canadian Air miles Project is to migrate the existing Legacy Air miles system
running on Mainframe to Copient, which is maintained by NCR. The primary objectives with
this migration are
Enhance current system to accurately award the miles earned by customers
To be able to view transactional information regarding miles being earned
Customers to use Air miles card to avail of air miles promos and to earn points
Tasks
Gathering information for the Legacy (QMF) reporting conversion
Determining all minimal requirements to continue shelf talker functionality (Air mile
sign printing) on MVS environment
Analyzing communication with Loyalty Management Group (LMG) (3rd party that
maintains Air miles for customers) and modifying this process for the migration to
Copient
During the migration from Legacy to Copient, the analysis and implementation to allow
conversion for pilot retail stores. The required reporting for validation during the pilot
phase will also be designed and implemented
Retirement of the Legacy system once everything has been migrated to Copient
