Hi friends this is a simple presentation on the Karl Fischer reaction. I hope you all will like this, please feel free to comment below which will help me to deliver better presentations in the future.
6. Uses of each chemical in
reaction
Karl fisher reagent contains ---- S02 + I2+ Imidazole
[S02+I2+imidazole] + H20( i.e moisture content in our
sample of interest. )
More the water content more the KF is taken inside
the reaction vessel.
The resulting iodides are detected by the electrode.
(S02+I2+imidazole) +H20 2HI+H2S04
The resulting sulphuric acid is stabilized by imidazole
because imidazole is a weak base and acts like a
buffering agent.
7. Meanings of few Terms used in the
presentation.
Buffering agents– chemicals which does
not allow a rapid change in pH to
happen.
Precision: Fact of being exact and
accurate.
Accuracy: State of being correct or
Degree of closeness of a measured
value.
Drift: The amount of moisture which is
present inside the reaction vessel.
8. Hope that was helpful !!!
!!! Thank you and have a nice day
ahead!!!
