SUPER BOWL LVI COMMUNITY EVENTS TO MAKE
POSITIVE IMPACT IN LOS ANGELES REGION

NEW YORK – Super Bowl LVI will impact the Los Angeles community with more than 30 charitable activities and
community outreach events that will enrich the community and provide lasting legacies long after the game is
played.
Super Bowl Week activities include community projects made possible by NFL Foundation Super Bowl Legacy Grants
and the Super Bowl LVI Host Committee, community greening projects, Salute to Service events to honor our military
and veterans, NFL PLAY 60 Kids Day and a community event involving the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award
presented by Nationwide nominees.
As part of the ongoing social justice work through its Inspire Change initiative, the NFL will join Cisco to address the
digital divide for the children of incarcerated parents, providing children the opportunity to partake in a special event
to record messages to be shared with their incarcerated parents. The digital divide has been exacerbated by the
COVID-19 pandemic and has increased barriers to education, particularly for individuals in underserved
communities.
With support from an NFL and Bob Woodruff Foundation Salute to Service Grant, Move United launched the first ever
USA Wheelchair Football League for athletes with disabilities, including veterans. The NFL is proud to host a
tournament and Championship Game during Super Bowl week. With a visit to Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos,
NFL representatives and players will personally interact with the pilots and service members performing the Super
Bowl flyover and thank them for their service to our country.
The NFL will celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and recognize the importance of allyship together with Covenant
House of California and the LGBT Center. NFL players will join the celebration and deliver notes of allyship and support
for the LGBTQ+ community completed by players throughout the league.
For the last 18 months the NFL Business Connect program has worked with 225 local diverse business owners in Los
Angeles to prepare them to compete for and win contracts related to Super Bowl LVI. The program hosts professional
development workshops and networking events designed to grow the business acumen of women, minority, veteran
and LGBTQ+ owned businesses.
The youth and high school football community will be celebrated throughout Super Bowl LVI. Student-athletes and
coaches will have the opportunity to enhance their football skills and learn the values associated with the game.

Each year, the NFL, via the NFL Foundation, seeks to leave a lasting legacy in the Super Bowl host community through
its Super Bowl Legacy Grant initiative by awarding a $1 million grant matched by the Super Bowl host committee and
allocated to nonprofit organizations in the surrounding community. This year, the Super Bowl LVI
Legacy Grant Program – Champions Live Here – recognized 56 “unsung hero” grassroots organizations through grant
assistance and other support for making a transformative impact in their communities. Over the past eight months,
the host committee has showcased these unsung heroes by harnessing the spotlight of the Super Bowl’s long-awaited
return to the region. Each organization – whose work touches all 88 cities in Los Angeles County– received a $10,000
grant, professionally produced marketing videos, and public recognition of their work. Six of these organizations
received a total grant award of $50,000 to make an even bigger impact in their community.

SUPER BOWL LVI BUSINESS CONNECT CELEBRATION
The NFL will host its Super Bowl LVI Business Connect Celebration - Opportunity. Teamwork. Success. on
Thursday, Feb. 3, from 5:30 – 9 p.m. The event is a celebration of the Super Bowl LVI Business Connect program,
spotlighting the accomplishments of the 225 companies who participated in the year-long program designed to bring
Super Bowl-related contract opportunities, professional development and networking opportunities to local, diverse
businesses in Los Angeles. In partnership with the Business Connect team and the Los Angeles Sports &
Entertainment Commission (LASEC), the woman, minority, LGBTQ+, and veteran-owned companies in the program
worked through myriad COVID-19-related business disruptions to participate in both virtual and in person events to
prepare their businesses to compete for Super Bowl LVI contracts and jobs the game will bring to Los Angeles.
The Business Connect Celebration is a private event for participating business owners and the NFL vendors who
support the program through the contract procurement process. A networking event will kick off the evening,
followed by an award program recognizing suppliers and vendors who have excelled in the program. The event will
culminate with a handoff ceremony acknowledging LASEC partner, Chincie Mouton’s, leadership in the marketplace
and introducing the Business Connect programs’ local lead in the Super Bowls’ next market, Phoenix.

INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH
FEATURING U.S. AND MEXICO NATIONAL TEAMS
This past December, a record-39 national teams from 22 countries competed in the 2021 International Federation of
American Football (IFAF) Flag World Championships in Jerusalem, Israel. The men’s and women’s Gold Medal
Games both featured U.S. and Mexico national teams with the Americans erasing halftime deficits for a pair of heart-
pounding wins, 44-41 (men’s) and 31-21 (women’s). On Sunday, Feb. 6, at Super Bowl Experience, these four
teams meet again for The Rematch in exciting, world-class 5-on-5 play. The men’s game kicks off at 6 p.m.,
followed by the women’s game at 7 p.m. Players will be available for media post-game.

INSPIRE CHANGE HUDDLE LEGACY PROGRAM:
ADDRESSING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CISCO
On Monday, Feb. 7 from 1-3 p.m. at NFL Network Studios, Inglewood, the NFL, together with Cisco and the NFL
Foundation, will partner with the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) and Place4Grace to host an event for children with
incarcerated parents designed to help address the digital divide. The NFL will work with ARC to invite 30 children
from Place4Grace to partake in an event where the kids will have the opportunity to record messages to be shared
with their incarcerated parents.
NFL Network talent will be invited to speak with the kids and share tips and tricks about recording in the studio. NFL
Network talent participating include host of NFL Total Access MJ ACOSTA-RUIZ, analysts WILLIE MCGINEST and
STEVE SMITH SR., reporter JIM TROTTER and host COLLEEN WOLFE.
Not only will the kids be invited to partake in this event, but leading up to Super Bowl week, the NFL Foundation,
along with the NFL partner Cisco, will be providing funding to outfit these 30 children with much-needed technology
at home, including computers, WiFi hotspots, tablets and more. This contribution, which is part of the NFL
Foundation and Cisco’s $150,000 donation to address the digital divide in Los Angeles, will not only improve the
kids’ learning at home but will also provide them with the tools they need to virtually connect with their incarcerated
parents on an on-going basis.

NFL GREEN HUDDLE
On Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. at A Place Called Home (2830 S. Central Ave.) The NFL Green Huddle
will take place in partnership with the Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee, Verizon and
Lowe’s and will consist of building and planting vegetable garden beds and installation of garden walls. The goal is
to create better food security for local families in South Central Los Angeles. Garden wall kits, soil and vegetable
plants will also be given to families enrolled in A Place Called Home’s urban agriculture program so they can grow
their own produce at home, giving them immediate access to nutritious food. In honor of Super Bowl LVI, a total of
56 garden wall kits will be installed. NFL Green is the League’s environmental program and works to mitigate the
environmental impact of the NFL’s major events and create a “green” legacy in each community that hosts the NFL’s
biggest events.

NFL/UNITED WAY CHARACTER PLAYBOOK PANEL
VIRTUAL: On Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 10-11 a.m., representatives from the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles
Rams will participate in a virtual panel for Character Playbook students across the country focusing on mental
wellness. Funded by the NFL Foundation and United Way Worldwide, Character Playbook is a digital education
resource that supports positive character development, social emotional learning, mental wellness and healthy
relationships in middle and high school students. The Healthy Relationships program is available nationally to

middle school students, while Mental Wellness Basics reaches 160 high schools across the country, all free of
charge.
NFL AND HISPANIC HERITAGE FOUNDATION YOUTH AWARDS CEREMONY
The NFL and Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) will honor 10 high school student-athletes from across the
country as part of the NFL’s Super Bowl LVI week celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2 pm at Super Bowl
Experience Presented by Lowe’s at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 S Figueroa St., Los Angeles). The
Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards were founded in 1998 by the HHF and honor Latino high school seniors who excel
in the classroom and community. The ceremony is a first-of-its-kind to be held during Super Bowl week, with one of
the students, selected among a pool of nearly 30,000 applicants, to be recognized as the national recipient. The
student-athletes will receive a grant from the NFL and HHF to help fund their education or to support an idea or
project in the health and fitness space.

SALUTE TO SERVICE 100 YARDS OF HOPE SCREENING
On Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 7-9 p.m. at the California Science Center, Imax Theatre (700 Exposition Park Dr. Los
Angeles), the NFL will invite active servicemembers, veterans and their families to a screening of the documentary
“100 Yards of Hope” about the coral restoration project led by the NFL and Force Blue - retired special operations
veterans.

VINCENT COUNTRY SAFE ZONE ACTIVITY DAY
The Safe Zone Activity Day will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Muir Academy to provide 700 elementary school
children with a day of fun, food, empowerment, and sports activities led by the Vincent Family, NFL Legends, and
special guests. Vincent Country, founded by Troy and Tommi Vincent, is a faith-driven family lifestyle brand
committed to positive social impact. CIGNA in its fourth year sponsoring the Safe Zone Activity Day will provide free
on-site health screenings with the CIGNA Health Improvement Tour (HIT) bus. The mobile clinic will provide FREE
health screenings to the parents, faculty, staff, and those 18 and over in the surrounding community. They HIT
mobile clinic will provide baseline health screenings from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

NFL PLAY 60 KIDS DAY: HUDDLE UP TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
In celebration of the 15th
anniversary of the NFL PLAY 60 initiative and the Super Bowl, the NFL will host NFL PLAY
60 Kids Day: Huddle Up to Make A Difference on Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Edward Vincent
Park (700 Warren Ln, Inglewood). Nearly 600 local Inglewood Unified School District students will have the
opportunity to participate in this festival-style event centered around youth health and wellness and community
impact. The event will include fun-filled activities for kids to get active as well as opportunities for them to give back
to their local community on key causes important to the NFL and the city of Los Angeles. The NFL PLAY 60 Kids
Day stations will include students participating in packing 1,000 care bags in support of a local nonprofit ‘Peace
Over Violence,’ a garden restoration and tree planting project hosted by the American Heart Association and the
NFL, a PLAY 60 fitness zone area and painting a mural alongside a local Inglewood artist. Supporting the event is
NFL licensee Rock Em’ Socks, who is donating NFL socks for the care bags. NFL PLAY 60 is the league's national
youth health and wellness campaign that encourages kids to get physically active for at least 60 minutes a day.
SALUTE TO SERVICE WHEELCHAIR FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
With support from an NFL and Bob Woodruff Foundation Salute to Service grant, Move United launched the firstever
USA Wheelchair Football League for athletes with disabilities, including veterans. The team designed the
Wheelchair Football League to closely resemble NFL play-style with adaptations specifically chosen to keep the
game fast paced and highly enjoyable for fans and players alike. During Super Bowl week, a mini tournament to
showcase the sport and invite current and former players to serve as honorary captains at the championship game
will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Green Lot (Lot 6), corner

of S Figueroa Street and W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The parking lot will be transformed into a football field,
complete with scoreboard and bleachers.

MAKE-A-WISH®
As one of the longest-standing partners of Make-A-Wish, the NFL will help celebrate 40 years of partnership with
Make-A-Wish by helping to grant the wishes of 15 children with critical illnesses to attend Super Bowl LVI in Los
Angeles, California. The history of Make-A-Wish kids at the Super Bowl dates back to the 9th wish in Make-A-Wish
history in 1982.
This year, the children and their families will arrive in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Wish children and their
families will enjoy several days of activities related to the Super Bowl and will attend the game at Sofi Stadium
through the support of the NFL and other organizations.

RISE TO HOST SEVENTH ANNUAL SUPER BOWL SOCIAL JUSTICE CRITICAL CONVERSATION,
CHAMPIONS OF CHANGE FAN EXPERIENCE AND A DIVERSITY IN SPORTS FORUM AT SUPER BOWL LVI
VIRTUAL: With the national discourse around issues of racism, diversity and inclusion becoming increasingly
polarized and mischaracterized, the RISE Seventh Annual Super Bowl Critical Conversation will highlight the
urgency for continued education, dialogue and action to address racism and social injustice. NFL athletes and
leaders will discuss how racism still affects daily life, individual experiences and various sects and structures in
society. The conversation, moderated by Jim Trotter (NFL Network), features Kelvin Beachum (Arizona Cardinals),
Jason McCourty (Miami Dolphins), Chris Ballard (General Manager, Indianapolis Colts) and Diahann BillingsBurford
(CEO, RISE). Participants will share how they seek to address racism in their communities and explore tangible next
steps as to how sports leaders can unite people around the goals of achieving racial equity, true inclusion and
complete justice. RISE is the leading national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to
eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations. The critical conversation will

on a multi-sensory journey designed to educate, evoke empathy and inspire action, while highlighting the impact
sports have on inspiring social change. Fans will hear firsthand stories from NFL players on their experiences with
race, discrimination and activism, and explore the RISE Road to Progress, an interactive timeline that chronicles the

IN-PERSON: Addressing the dual call for diversity in sports business and the desire to hire and retain diverse
candidates who are rising stars in this industry, RISE and Pro Sports Assembly will host Representation Matters:
Increasing Diversity in Sports Business on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The half-day, in-person program for sports
professionals, from mid-level staffers to executives, will cultivate opportunities for meaningful professional
networking and connections via an interactive experience focused on equity building in sports business. The
program is designed to spark dialogue amongst employees and employers, gain insight from leaders in the sports

SUPER BOWL LEGACY GRANT PRESS CONFERENCE

NFL representatives and players will visit the pilots and crew at the Los Alamitos Base. This event provides an

NFL PLAYER CARE FOUNDATION SUPER BOWL CAREER FAIR
On Friday, Feb. 11 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Westin Bonaventure the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) will
host their 4th
Annual Super Bowl Career Fair, allowing NFL Legends the opportunity to network with 40+ employers
including CBS Sports, Cigna, FedEx, Lowe’s, Microsoft, NBC Sports, Nike, the National Football League (NFL),
PepsiCo, Visa, and more. For the first time, the Career Fair will function in a hybrid capacity, featuring a physical
component in Los Angles and a virtual component on the NFL PCF Career Portal.
The event will kick off with a career development session, including a panel that will feature Visa NFL Players
Business Development Program participants, CAM LYNCH and COPELAND BRYAN. Visa’s program welcomed a
total of five participants in September 2021 and includes a two-year rotation during which participants spend six

months in four different Visa business units to gain experience across the organization. Participants receive career
training, mentoring and networking, along with the opportunity for a full-time position and a career at Visa. Lynch and
Bryan will speak to their career change after life on the field, and share their experience transitioning into a business

The PCF is an independent foundation created in 2007 by a partnership between NFL owners, the NFL Players

ANNUAL MADDEN NFL 21 X HBCU TOURNAMENT
This season the NFL is hosting the 2nd
annual Madden NFL 21 x HBCU Tournament with EA, celebrating the impact
of HBCUs headlined with a competitive tournament and career development opportunities both on and off the field.
The top 16 finalists will advance to compete in the NFL Madden x HBCU Showcase during Super Bowl Week. The
16 finalists will also participate in an "experienceship" by spending time with the EA staff to engage them in various
departments, and they will tour the NFL's new west coast headquarters and shadow NFL leaders for a day to
provide development and networking experiences to the students. The top two finalists will be playing for cash

NFL GREEN
The NFL, the Los Angeles Super Bowl LVI Host Committee, and Verizon have teamed up to develop a series of
initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of Super Bowl LVI and create a “green” legacy in the greater Los
Angeles area. The focus has been on increasing tree canopy to provide shade, beauty and improve air quality,
building community gardens to increase food security and restoring a kelp forest off California’s coast.
Community Greening:
NFL Green is implementing numerous community greening projects in the greater Los Angeles area for Super Bowl
LVI including:
• The planting of 56 trees for Super Bowl LVI and beautification projects at Edward Vincent Junior Park in
partnership with the City of Inglewood Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.
• In partnership with Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, the planting of dozens of trees and a large
vertical wall garden at CultivaLA’s Westlake Community Garden to provide fruit, vegetables and herbs to a
neighborhood that has been highly impacted by Covid-19.
• Refurbishment and expansion of the Mott Street Community Garden in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of
Los Angeles in partnership with LA Conservation Corps
• In partnership with California Greenworks, 25 Brisbane Box trees and Australian Willows were planted along
the north side of Jefferson Boulevard in South Los Angeles to increase tree canopy, provide shade, beauty
and improve air quality in the neighborhood.
• The planting of 30 evergreen trees along Huntington Street in the City of San Fernando to provide critical
public health and environmental benefits, in partnership with Tree People.
• The planting of dozens of street trees in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles to add shade, beauty and
additional tree canopy, in partnership with TreePeople.

• The planting of a large California Oak “Wishing Tree” at Wishing Tree Park in West Carson as part of an
initiative to create much needed greenspace in the neighborhood in partnership with Los Angeles
Neighborhood Land Trust.
• Garden revitalization project in partnership with the City of Inglewood Parks, Recreation and Community
Services Department to replace soil and plant garden beds, plant trees, paint, clean and beautify Queen
Park Community Garden. • A final “passing of the golden shovel” community greening event will take
place later this year. That event will mark the passing of Super Bowl community greening projects from Los
Angeles to Phoenix, site of Super Bowl LVII.
Reforestation: NFL sustainability partner Verizon will plant 5,600 trees (100 trees for each Super Bowl) in the
Angeles and Los Padres National Forests. The project is focused on reestablishing native ecosystems and the
recovery of lands and watersheds damaged by wildfire.
FORCE BLUE Championship Dive: NFL Green and the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee teamed up with
Pepsi Stronger Together, PepsiCo VALOR, Special Operations Veterans from FORCE BLUE, scientists and
researchers from the Bay Foundation and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium — as well as commercial urchin harvesters,
local volunteers and Environmental Charter Middle School students for a kelp restoration project and beach cleanup
at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, Los Angeles. Dive teams worked to clear thousands of purple sea urchins that have
laid waste to the area, creating several kelp restoration plots that, together, will make up the size of a football field.
Beyond their beauty and iconic status as part of California’s marine landscape, kelp forests provide shelter and food
for thousands of species. They also trap and store massive amounts of carbon dioxide, filling an essential role in the
fight to slow the effects of climate change.
Super Kids-Super Sharing: NFL Green, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host
Committee, Verizon, the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers teamed up with local schools and
YMCA-LA branches for a Super Bowl project that put 22-thousand books, pieces of sports equipment, school
supplies and games in the hands of local children. The project, called Super Kids-Super Sharing, has been
implemented in every Super Bowl host community for the past 23 years.
Other NFL Green projects include:
Green and Win: A unique fan engagement project called “Green and Win” will be implemented at Super Bowl. Fans
caught in the act of recycling may win a unique Super Bowl hat and have their photos posted on NFL social media.
Food Recovery and Donation: Prepared unserved food from Super Bowl events will be recovered and distributed
to shelters and feeding programs in partnership with the Los Angeles Food Bank and Los Angeles Mission.
Material Recovery: Recovery of event materials will begin immediately after most Super Bowl events. During the
week following the game, there will be an intensive drive to collect and donate items left over from Super Bowl
including building materials, décor fabric, carpeting and sign materials. In partnership with the Salvation Army, these
items will be donated to local organizations that can reuse, repurpose or remanufacture the material.
Green Energy: “Green” energy will be used to power major Super Bowl event venues including SoFi Stadium, the
AFC and NFC team hotels, and the NFL headquarters hotel. Renewable energy certificates (RECs) equivalent to
the electricity usage at these facilities will help to mitigate the climate impact of energy emissions.
