• Strict Timelines
• Upgrades & Patching: When new requirements arise,
tester ‘patches’ them on to existing strategy to
accommodate new scenarios
• Resourcing – Business & IT: Skilled resources do not see
Testing as a necessity and avoid it as it is time-consuming.
• Detailed Test Scripts: Automated test scripts can cover
more detailed scenarios, providing better testing.
• Test Coverage: While testing manually, some (less
used)test scenarios might be skipped to save time. These
may create issues later.

code should still work. Regression testing checks this. Because
of their age, older applications mostly involve regression
testing.
• Repeatability & Consistency: While testing cases, if an error is
detected at a late stage, testing has to begin all over again.
Thus, repeatability is crucial.
• Ad hoc Testing Requests: Occasionally, testing is needed to
check for some newly added rules/by-rules. This is hard to
accommodate in manual testing.
• Training Materials: Testing requires business requirement
document, design plan, test plan, etc.
