The new apostolic nuncio to Indonesia, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, has urged all Catholics in the predominantly Muslim country to proclaim the Good News.
“We have to proclaim Jesus Christ in our daily life,” he told about 500 Catholics and ambassadors from several countries at a June 29 Holy Mass in Jakarta’s Assumption of Mary Cathedral Church.
The Holy Mass, organized to welcome the new apostolic nuncio, was concelebrated by the chairman of the bishops’ conference, Capuchin Bishop Martinus Dogma Situmorang of Padang in West Sumatra, Archbishop Ignatius Suharyo of Jakarta, and Passionist Bishop Giulio Mencuccini of Sanggau in West Kalimantan.
“We have to commit to our faith inside and outside the Church,” the new apostolic nuncio asserted, saying that he will also proclaim the Good News and serve the Church as well as society in Indonesia.
