FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Nintendo Corporation Unveils the Ultimate in Exercise
Gaming
New York- Gaming company, âNintendo,â is the latest group to jump on the health and
fitness bandwagon. They have just released their âWiiFitâ video game for the Nintendo
Wii gaming console. The WiiFit game enables users to physically interact with the
gameplay presentation by using an innovative balance platform. This platform, named a
âbalance boardâ measures a userâs weight, center of gravity and is able to calculate their
body mass index (BMI).
The game has about 40 different activities including strength training, aerobics,
yoga and balance games. The activities provide a substantial workout, focusing on
controlled movements. If/when a player becomes proficient at a certain type of exercise,
this will unlock more challenging versions of that activity.
âWiiFit is a great way for gamers to literally get in the game and participate in
various physical challenges,â said president of Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto. âIt is also a
great way to introduce a healthy and balanced lifestyle by offering exciting activities that
are fun for the whole family.â
By creating a personal profile (called a Mii), a user is able to set goals, view a
graph of their BMI results over time, see how many âFit Creditsâ have been earned and
even enter exercise time done outside of WiiFit. Up to eight family members can
create their own Mii profile and view each otherâs progress. This will allow family
members to have a friendly competition while also getting fit together.
âNintendoâs WiiFit has become the fastest selling video game in the United
States,â according to financial director of Chart Track USA, Martha Collins. âWii Fit
(more) WiiFit 1/2
2. sold over a quarter of a million copies in its first week and passed the one million sales
milestone within one week of its release on May 1, 2008.â
Nintendo Corporation of America will be making its way throughout the U.S. this
summer showcasing the WiiFit video game. They will be donating $5 (up to $25,000) to
the American Heart Association of America for every person who steps on the Wii
Balance Board and tries Wii Fit. The contribution will be in support of Nintendoâs efforts
to help American families live a healthier lifestyle. For more information on Nintendoâs

Target Market- Parents whose children are between the ages of six to eighteen years of
age.
Reason for Press Release- To promote a new product while explaining the benefits of it,
such as introducing a healthier lifestyle for families.
Who would the press release be sent to? I would send it to the local newspaper as well
as the local TV news station because the majority of my target market normally receives
their information from these sources. I would also send it to a parenting magazine to help
families who may be struggling with weight issues.
