PRICES ANNOUNCED FOR ALL-NEW 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID
MARKHAM (August 4, 2015) – The all-new 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid will have a
manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting at $29,649 and will include a long list of standard
features, improved efficiency, and offer a segment-first 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The 2016
Sonata Hybrid will arrive at Hyundai dealerships across Canada in August and is built at
Hyundai’s Asan manufacturing facility in South Korea. Pricing for the company’s first plug-in
model, the Sonata Hybrid Plug-in, will be announced at a later date.
Equipped with a 2.0-litre GDI four-cylinder engine (154 horsepower and 140 lb-ft. of torque), the
Sonata Hybrid uses a six-speed automatic transmission that houses a powerful 38 kW electric
motor (51 horsepower and 151 lb-ft. of torque) and clutch where the torque converter would
normally be found. The Sonata Hybrid’s net output is 193 horsepower at 6,000 rpm.
The lithium-polymer battery pack has a capacity of 1.62 kWh and now fits under the trunk floor,
which allows for a flat trunk floor as well as 60/40 split-folding rear seats. The 2016 Sonata
Hybrid offers best-in-class cargo volume at 380 litres, a 10 percent increase over the previous
Sonata Hybrid, thanks to the compact battery pack dimensions and efficient design.
The exterior of the Sonata Hybrid delivers a class-leading 0.24 coefficient of drag due to
functional modifications from the regular gas-powered Sonata through a new grille, unique
bumpers, front fenders, side sill moldings, and wheels. Visual differentiation from the gas-
powered model comes in the form of new front and rear lights and badges.
Starting at $29,649, standard equipment includes 16” aluminum alloy wheels, Blind Spot
Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist, LED tail lights and Daytime
Running Lights, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, proximity keyless entry with push-
button ignition, a 5.0” colour touch-screen audio display with rear-view camera, and more.
2. The $33,799 Limited model adds premium features like 17” aluminum alloy wheels, a panoramic
sunroof, leather seating surfaces, an 8.0” touch-screen navigation system, a 7-speaker audio
system, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated rear seats, and 60/40 split-fold rear seats,
among many others.
Finally, the $37,499 Ultimate model introduces a host of new technologies to Sonata Hybrid,
including Bi-Xenon HID headlights, High Beam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go
capability, Forward Collision Warning, a Lane Departure Warning System, and rear parking
assistance sensors. Also included are features like ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker premium
audio system, and an Integrated Memory System for the driver’s seat and side mirror
preferences.
