educational values
• School Management and leadership
• Quality of teaching and learning
• Physical environment and legal requirements
• Expressing your interest: Once you are prepared with the requirements, you need to fill in an online form. You need to
provide your contact details, the program that of your interest and the details of your eligibility and qualifications. The
council gets back to you regarding this application.
• Complete the application: The second stage involves filling the detail application form and submitting it to the local
Cambridge center. This is then followed by the approval visit.
• Approval visit: The Cambridge representative visits the school and observes if the school meets all the expected standards.
You then receive an approval visit form that states whether your school is approved, rejected or approved with conditions.
• Contract signing: Once approved, you are required to sign the contract with IGCSE and complete the registration process.
Now as a registered school, you receive a smooth transition into the Cambridge working style. You receive access to
resources, curriculum, events and training and marketing support. Thus you can get started.
Registering your School under ICSE council:-

the preparation for the affiliation request. This involves the basic

infrastructure and other mandatory requirements.
• Submit the application form with the relevant details.

verification process is fine, you will receive the affiliation.
How to Start an International School in India
• International schools in India are seen to adopt the system where students can select a curriculum of their choice at the level of Grade IX.
• Investment: You need to thoroughly research your business plan, market scenario and then estimate the expenditures of a complete school
set up till the intended grade.
• Land: The area needs to be huge so as to develop a campus that provides several curricular and extracurricular facilities. If you intend to
provide the residential option, you need more land.
• Infrastructure: Based on your academic plans and the activities like sports and recreation, you need to plan the infrastructure and set up
the equipments.
• Paperwork: This is one of the most tedious jobs in case of International schools. You need to work on the curriculum and adopt various
methodologies related to the International Boards. You also need to produce various approvals and consents from local education bodies
and municipal boards in your city.
• Once everything is set up, you need to recruit staff that is specially trained for International curriculum. You can then start marketing your
business.
The benefits of starting your own school are:
•
You own the brand and hence the School ‘in toto’
• It is more successful model financially over a period of ten years as you save crores of rupees that
would otherwise be paid as royalty or management fee
• You have a complete distinct control over the management of the school
• As your investment and reputation is at stake, your commitment to make the school successful
will be greater.
• It can be a good business diversification plan from the present line of your business and offer
good avenue for working of next generation in your family
• It creates more visibility and respect for the family as the School is distinctly identified with the
promoters of the School
• It offers great flexibility as you are not bound by policies and guidelines of a franchise school
• It enables you to customize and localize the academic programs and suit the need of the target
group
• It offers opportunity to expand further into Degree College, Engineering College, B.Ed. College or
University by same name in future
Few more Important documents and licenses
required while starting a school
• Building the land details
• Water certificates
• Hygiene certificates
• Auditor’s statements
• Bank statements of governing body and the members
• Completion of building certificates
Key Points
