2. What is leadership?
“Leadership is the art of getting someone to do the things you
want them to do because he wants to do it.”
-Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Leadership and liberty combine when one knows how to
manage individuals but not infringe on their rights or freedoms. A
leader for liberty inspires his/her followers to empower others. A
relevant example is how Students For Liberty has developed a
network of capable leaders who help spread liberal ideas
through forums and reading/audio materials.
3. Factors that motivate a leader for
liberty
Virtue- such as honesty,
tolerance enable on to
effectively lead
Knowledge- empowers and
exposes one to liberal ideas
that challenge the status
quo
Apprenticeship- keep the
cycle of learning and
relearning widespread
among other generations.
4. STRIKING A BALANCE
A libertarian is required to learn how to
balance their liberal view and neither
lean to the right or left side of the
spectrum.
5.
6. The picture in the previous slide helps break down the
spectrum and the respective views.
As a leader of liberty, one needs to acknowledge these many
perspectives but be able to draw a line respectfully when
another individual freedom limits their colleagues'.
Liberal ideas should neither promote individualism nor
socialism in any manner.
“For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live
in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
― Nelson Mandela
7. LEADERS FOR LIBERTY MAKE
THE WORLD GO ROUND
In conclusion, it’s important to note that leaders for liberty
may not be recognised everywhere or may be outcasts in
most countries but they do aid in keeping governments on
their toes. This is because they form the majority of the
activists, whistleblowers, opposition. This individuals ensure
that liberty is upheld and inevitably make the world go round!!
