This document provides encouragement to live up to one's calling through three essentials:
1) Keeping a heavenly perspective and not becoming prideful or complacent.
2) Continuing to live out one's God-given purpose in life like marching as a soldier.
3) Keeping godly company and being inspired by other faithful people. The goal is to run the race of life with endurance and complete the task Jesus has given of making disciples.
3. PHILIPPIANS 3:15-17 (NIV)
15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of
things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God
will make clear to you. 16 Only let us live up to what we have
already attained. 17 Join together in following my
example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a
model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.
12. All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on
some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
1. KEEP THE PERSPECTIVE HEAVENWARD (v.15)
13. There are a variety of gifts and callings, but there is only one
attitude for growing spiritually: Pursue Christ Above All Else!
15. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
2. KEEP LIVING OUT GOD-GIVEN PURPOSE (v.16)
16. “LIVE UP TO” = “STOICHEO”
– To proceed in a row as the march of a soldier, go in order; to
go on prosperously, to turn out well; to walk; to direct one’s life.
17. “Walk in a purposeful way,
March like a soldier.”
18. Knowing our core values in life will help us discover the
purpose and calling for our lives…
“The Because Factor”
19. ACTS 20:24 (NIV)
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race
and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the
good news of God’s grace.
20. “My one purpose in life is to help people find a personal relationship
with God, which, I believe, comes through knowing Christ.”
Billy Graham
21. LUKE 4:18-19 (NIV)
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me BECAUSE he has anointed me to proclaim good news to
the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for
the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
“JESUS’ BECAUSE FACTOR”
28. Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you
have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.
3. KEEP GODLY COMPANY (v.17)
29. The lives of godly people, seen in person or in a biography,
can inspire us to deeper spiritual growth.
30. HEBREWS 11:39-40 (NIV)
These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had
been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only
together with us would they be made perfect.
31. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:33 (NIV)
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
36. VICTORY COMES BY ENDURANCE!
"Let us lay aside every weight and send that easily besets us,
and let's run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12
37. MATTHEW 28:19-20 (NIV)
“Therefore go (As we go in life) and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you
always, to the very end of the age.”
