4. What is Global UGRAD?
Launched by the Bureau of Educationaland CulturalAffairs (ECA) of the United
States Department of State.
Administered byUSEFP in Pakistanand in the United States by the International
Research & ExchangesBoard (IREX).
Program offers cultural/academic exchange through a non-degree program for a
semester at a university in the U.S. to 3rd and 4th years students.
5. Eligibility Criteria
Pakistani citizens
25 years or younger
Currently enrolled ina college or university and committed to returning to their
home universities following the completion of the program.
In their 14th or 15th yearof formal education (2nd and 3rd year)
Applicants are required to submit current/most recent, and old transcripts with
application
6. Ineligibility
Dual U.S./Pakistani nationals or U.S. permanent residents
Those who have a parent or spouse who isa U.S. citizen, permanent U.S. resident,
or hasa pending U.S. immigration
Employees of the Fulbright organization, the U.S. Department of State, or USAID
and their spouses, children, fiancés, siblings, dependents, and parents
Students in their final year of university
7. Application Process
Advertisement annually by September/October.
Application form is required to be submitted online.
All supporting documents, i.e., photocopiesof marks sheetsincluding an
explanationof grading scale of university issuingthe degree, are to be attached
to the online application before submission.
Scan copies of allyour university attested transcripts must be uploaded online
including the most recenttranscript.
9. General Instructions
Please answer ALL questions on the application in English.
Include your full legal name, familyname (surname) as spelled on your passport.
Include complete contact information (including index codes for alladdresses and
city/country codes for allphone and faxnumbers).
DoNOT leave any spaces blank. If a question does not apply to you, enter "NA" (not
applicable).
All forms and supporting materials should be typed (if possible) and submitted with the
complete application.
11. Personal Statement
Word limit is 250.
Provideaclearanddetailed descriptionof:
Yourself in terms of interests and personality,
Your academic objectives,
Your goals in terms of your field of study and personal development,
The reasonsyou wish to pursuethem in U.S.A. and the type of program you hope to
pursue and howit relates to your interests and future objectives.
12. Why Personal Statement?
To cover aspects which are not captured elsewhere in the application
To distinguish yourself from other candidates
To explain something different in your academicrecord, which isn’t described in marks
sheets etc.
13. Before writing Personal Statement
Research about the program or scholarshipyou want to apply
Go through the instructions on their page and keep those in mind
Note down major points
Write an outline on what to include in your personal statement.
Think about the people who will read your personal statement
