Principles of operation and technical description of UGT grain dryers
PRE-CLEAN SYSTEM - SIEVE
When loading a wet crop, foreign objects, such as stones, sticks, etc., may enter the grain dryer. These
foreign objects, reaching the rollers of the grain dryer, can get stuck anywhere and will impede the
rotation of the rollers, promote combustion of the motor, failure of the inverter and impede the circuit,
leading to distortion of the shaft shape. In order for the operator to find a foreign object in the 13
compartment dryer, the sieve under the upper screw in all compartments of the grain dryer, except for
the last. Thus, the operator should not open all 26 covers, unload the product and perform extra work,
but simply open the last cover and remove foreign objects.

SYSTEM OF DOSING ROLLS
In each grain column there are two metering rollers on the inside and the outside, so the grain layers
can move through the grain dryer at different speeds. On the basis of the moisture meter indicator at
the outlet, the rotational speed of the metering rollers is set. The inner hot layer of the grain passes
through the grain column faster than the outer colder layer. The result is a uniform moisture level of the
dried grain.
The system of metering rollers is controlled by a chain. Foreign objects, reaching the rollers of the grain
dryer, can get stuck anywhere and will impede the rotation of the rollers, promote combustion of the
engine, failure of the inverter and impede the circuit, leading to a distortion of the shaft shape. To
prevent this, a belt system is installed between the gear and the engine. As a result of the object getting
stuck, the belt will break, and thus, it will protect the grain dryer.

PROTECTIVE SWITCHES
When performing technical work, people can make all sorts of mistakes. For this reason, we establish a
high level of system security. When the covers in the burner inlet compartments, including the belt drive
covers, as well as the maintenance covers, are open, the equipment is absolutely impossible to put into
operation. Putting the equipment into operation is possible only with the covers closed.

CROSSING SCHEME OF GRAIN MOVEMENT
Drying of the harvested crop in the natural environment is carried out by uniform mixing. To ensure
uniform drying in all of our grain dryers, we use a cross grain pattern.
The grain in the compartments on the inside and outside of the grain dryer heats up to different
temperatures. The grain layers from the inside and the outside change places in the process of drying,
thus a uniform heating of the grain occurs. For example, on the inside of a grain dryer, the temperature
of the grain is 50 ° C, and on the outside 25-30 ° C. During the heating of the grain with a temperature of
25-30 ° C to 50 ° C, the grain with a temperature of 50 ° C will warm to 60 ° C. The temperature of the
grain on the inner side will exceed 10 ° C. As a result, the loss of productivity will be 20%. Due to the
cross movement pattern, the grain with a temperature of 50 ° C changes places with a grain
temperature of 25-30 ° C. Thus, the grain heats up quickly on both sides.

AVAILABILITY OF MULTIPLE EMERGENCY BUTTONS OF EQUIPMENT
STOP
Usually, one button is used to stop equipment in an emergency. Our equipment has three buttons. One
of the buttons is located on the electrical panel. To protect the electrical panel from external factors,
the panel is placed in the operator's cabin. The other two additional emergency buttons are located on
the front and back of the dryer. Thus, in order to stop the equipment in the event of any emergency, the
operator can press the emergency button either from the operator’s cabin or press the button on the
front or rear side of the dryer without departing from it.
While in other dryers with any problems encountered, to stop the equipment, the operator must go to
the operator’s cabin.
SPECIAL MOUNTING ROLLER
Until 1961, when not all metals were available, a piece of wood was used to attach the roller. However,
over time, thermal expansion can cause problems such as deformation of the tree. This method of
mounting the drum does not match today. Therefore, the fastening
of the roller in our grain drying machines is carried out with the
help of special plastic parts. In addition, the mounting of the drum
does not require special skill.

CABLE DISTRIBUTION
Cable routing outside the channels in a grain dryer is vulnerable without protection. Therefore, we
isolate the cable outside the channels with PVC-coated steel spiral pipes.

BEARING SUSPENSION
The suspension of the bearing provides the movement of parts of the
equipment in a fixed form. Installation of the bearing suspension does not
require special skills. The mounting of the bearing suspension is carried out
with the help of 6 bolts, as shown in the figure. UGT bearing pendants
compare favorably in quality from cheap pendants produced on the market.
This part is manufactured specifically for use in UGT grain dryers.
SERVICE PLATFORM
For maintenance of ventilation pipes, gas pipelines, propellers, etc. Our machines are equipped with
service platforms. In the upper part of the dryer there are 2
special long platforms on each side. Also on top in front of the
dryer there is a help platform. Attendants are free to stand on
two legs and use both hands during work and maintenance.
Personnel can also work without a seat belt, without fear of
falling.

LADDERS
The angle of the first floor stairs is 45L. Due to this, service staff can freely
climb to the top of the grain dryer without support. The staff can easily
reach all 4 sides of the grain dryer. For maintenance of the equipment is
also provided a straight ladder.
MOISTUREMETER
Among the models of grain dryers we produce, there are models with a moisture meter.
We use a device measuring the humidity of German production. We can make any
changes related to the management of the grain dryer, according to your wishes. The
only thing you have to do is specify what you need.

Steady Drying
In UGT dryers, the air passes through the product being dried using the mixed flow method. In the mixed flow system
used, the humidity has enough time to exit from the core of the grain to the outside. This is the most effective method
that ensures uniform and gentle drying of the product.

If the requirements change over time, the modular design will increase the size and capacity of the dryer with a
minimum of modifications.
Modular construction
The dryer is mounted from galvanized modules with a
height of 535 mm. By varying the width in the range of 2–
8 m, different ratios of height and width can be obtained.

Cross construction

Optimize Your Operations Up To 30% Energy Savings
We all know that for safe storage of grain it must be dried. The greater the humidity, the more energy must be spent
in order to provide the necessary level of humidity for subsequent long-term storage. In our new UGT series, we
managed to reduce energy consumption by up to 30%. This unusually high rate will allow you to significantly reduce
fuel costs when drying any type of grain.

1. Reduced dust levels
We always face the problem of dust when drying grain. The more dust enters the grain dryer when the grain is
loaded, the more dust will be in the air near the grain dryer during operation.
Additionally, our new machines with heat recovery systems can be equipped with an automatic blocking of the
air flow when unloading grain. This, in combination with the expanded channel of humid air, will significantly
reduce the amount of dust emitted from the dryer. Additionally, our new UGT grain dryers can be equipped with

2. Fuel consumption
UGT grain dryers are equipped with only highly efficient gas burners for natural gas or propane. Used burners
can be easily adjusted from 10 to 100% of power.
3. Reduced noise level
In UGT grain dryers we use both radial and axial fans. Axial fans are always installed at the top of the dryer and
are directed upwards. Radial fans are installed inside the bottom of the dryer. The combination of radial and
axial fans create the effect of reduced noise.
4. Reduced air flow
In case the dryer is equipped with a dust reduction system, the air flow in the dryer is reduced during unloading.
5. Fire detection system
The ignition detection system is standard on the UGT grain dryer. In case of risk of fire, the system will turn off all
functions of the grain dryer and trigger an alarm.
6. Safe Terms of Service
Our grain dryers are equipped with ladders and platforms for easy and safe access to important parts of the
machine.
7. Increased efficiency
Compared to traditional grain dryers, we have reduced energy consumption by 30%. We have achieved this by

Economical modular grain dryers UGT with a capacity of 4-120 t / h, work on different types of fuel (natural gas, diesel fuel,
liquid propane). They are intended for drying legumes and cereals of all kinds (wheat, rye, barley, peas, soybean, buckwheat,
oats, corn, millet, sunflower, rapeseed).
Heat generators, which are installed on such dryers, provide low fuel consumption with high efficiency. The drying process is
carried out using hot air of a given temperature under high pressure, which, passing through a uniform layer of grain, heats
it. Formed moisture is removed using perforated walls of the grain chambers.
UGT modular dryers are easy to operate, as they are fully automated. Thanks to the digital control system, it is possible to
determine and control the parameters of the land, which are preset by the operator. All information about the operation of
the dryer is displayed on the touch screen. The security system allows you to automatically stop the drying process,
information about the fault will be visible on the display of the control panel. This allows you to immediately troubleshoot.
UGT dryers are made with wheels - in the mobile version, which allows you to move them to any distance, and in a

WHEN DESIGNING UGT GRAIN DRYERS, THE MOST RECENT TECHNOLOGY ACHIEVEMENTS ARE USED:
1. We provide the ability to control the speed of drying grain. In each grain column there are two
metering rollers on the inside and the outside, so the grain layers can move through the grain dryer
at different speeds. On the basis of the moisture meter indicator at the outlet, the rotational speed
of the metering rollers is set. The inner hot layer of the grain passes through the grain column faster
than the outer colder layer. The result is a uniform moisture level of the dried grain.
2. We provide the ability to control the temperature of drying grain. You can choose the required
temperature for drying the grain from 40 to 140 ° C, at which the grain will not burn.
3. UGT grain dryers are very easy to operate. To control the grain dryer, only one operator is enough,

4. For uniform grain drying, we use a system of several metering rollers and a cross grain drying

HUMIDITY OF GRAIN AS AN INDICATOR OF HIS QUALITY
• Humidity is the most important indicator of grain quality, so it is determined when taking the grain
immediately. Humidity characterizes the amount of nutrients in the grain, as well as its suitability for
storage and processing. So, wet grain contains less nutrients and is unstable when stored.
Humidification activates physicochemical and physiological processes (respiration, germination,
splitting of high molecular weight biopolymers, activation of enzymes, swelling), all this complicates
its storage and processing. On the surface of the wet grain, microorganisms begin to develop rapidly,
and the number of insects, ticks and other pests is also increasing in the grain mass. The combination
of these processes in the grain leads to a deterioration in its quality and deterioration during storage.
Wheat, soybeans, corn are harvested from the field with an average of 20-25% moisture, these crops
must be dried to 15% moisture. After drying the grain, manufacturers can easily store their products
and make a profit. During the high harvest period, grain prices are low; after drying the grain,
producers are able to store the grain and sell it further at a higher price.

In our grain dryers, there is a time management system during drying. The drying time management
system is located in the discharge chamber. This system accelerates or decelerates the time, in
accordance with the humidity, of the product to be dried.
FOR EXAMPLE: when the percentage of product humidity is 20% -15% during the drying of the product,
we set the discharge speed to 10 units and we have 20 tons of dried product per hour.
The first time, guided by these settings, after some time, at 25% moisture of the product, we reduce the
discharge rate to 5 units, thus it provides a longer presence of the product in the equipment and thus
the percentage of humidity will drop to 15%. Naturally, when reducing the speed of discharge,

with operator action, adjusting changes in humidity and controlling time. Thus, the required humidity of
each product in the equipment is regulated.

These foreign objects, reaching the rollers of the grain dryer, can get stuck anywhere and will impede the rotation of the rollers, promote combustion of the motor, failure of the inverter and impede the circuit, leading to distortion of the shaft shape. In order for the operator to find a foreign object in the 13 compartment dryer, the sieve under the upper screw in all compartments of the grain dryer, except for the last. Thus, the operator should not open all 26 covers, unload the product and perform extra work, but simply open the last cover and remove foreign objects. To ensure uniform drying in all of our grain dryers, we use a cross grain pattern. The grain in the compartments on the inside and outside of the grain dryer heats up to different temperatures. The grain layers from the inside and the outside change places in the process of drying, thus a uniform heating of the grain occurs. For example, on the inside of a grain dryer, the temperature of the grain is 50 ° C, and on the outside 25-30 ° C. During the heating of the grain with a temperature of 25-30 ° C to 50 ° C, the grain with a temperature of 50 ° C will warm to 60 ° C. The temperature of the grain on the inner side will exceed 10 ° C. As a result, the loss of productivity will be 20%.
