Serving a Notice on a
single
hosting violation

Say that you find a website offering
the full text of Terry Pratchett’s book
“Guards! Guards!” for free
download.

Just type in the and select the
Rights Owner you are acting for, to
begin creating the Notice.
Now paste in the URL.
The Portal has automatically
identified the ISP hosting the
infringing content and compiled an
appropriate Notice.
Just review and sign the Notice,
and it will be dispatched to the ISP
concerned.
The message status changes to
“Complete”.
The Notice becomes available for
viewing in the “Served Notices” list.
And the process is complete.
Viewing Served
Notices.
“My Notices” allows you to view all
the Notices (both complete and in
progress) that you have generated
using the Portal.

You can view either Copyright
Infringement Notices or Territorial
Infringement Notices.

The status messages are colour
coded:
- Green for completed
- Yellow for Notices requiring user
action
- Red for Notices that are on hold,
pending administrator action.
“Served Notices” allows you to view
all the completed Notices served by
all users of the Portal.

Hovering over a link will bring up a
preview of the target.
More complex notices.
It’s just as easy to use the Portal for
more complex cases.

Here we see an example where a
single infringing copy has resulted
in two notices, to two different ISPs.

The second seeks removal of an
infringing copy, while the first seeks
removal of a hyperlink to the
infringing copy.

This last is known as a “Feeder
Site” and is only one of the types of
infringement the portal is designed
to deal with.
