The UAE celebrates National Day on December 2nd each year to commemorate the formation of the country in 1971 when six emirates bound together to form the UAE. The holiday marks the day the union was formed under the leadership of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who led efforts to unite the emirates and became the first president. President Sheikh Mohamed, who was elected in May 2022, emphasized in his first National Day address that the UAE will strongly support humanity and its development.
