Mother's Day is celebrated internationally on the second Sunday of May to honor mothers and motherhood. It was founded in the United States in the early 1900s by Anna Jarvis to honor her mother, and has since spread worldwide. Anna Jarvis held the first official Mother's Day celebration in 1907 at her mother's church in West Virginia to commemorate mothers.
