This document provides an overview of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program at the Church of St Francis Xavier in Petaling Jaya. It outlines the different periods of the RCIA journey, including the pre-catechumenate period for seekers, the catechumenate period for those learning about the faith, and the period after initiation called mystagogy. It also provides the schedule of sessions for the 2017-2018 program year, describing the topics that will be covered each date. The sessions are designed to help participants learn about Catholic teachings and prepare to become full members of the Church through the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.

10. From Love • By Love • To Love
Each of us is the result of
the thought of God.
Each of us is willed,
loved, each of us is
necessary…
Christianity is not n
intellectual system, a
collection of dogmas, or
a moral system…
Christianity is an
encounter, a love story,
an event…”
(Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI)

11. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
designed for adults
who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed,
consciously and freely seek the living God
and enter the way of faith and conversion
as the Holy Spirit opens their heart.
(RCIA no. 1)
What is RCIA?
Saturday, 8 July 2017 Facilitators' Formation Slide 11
12. What is RCIA?
“From the time of the apostles,
becoming a Christian has
been accomplished by a
journey and initiation in several
stages. This journey can be
covered rapidly or slowly, but
certain essential elements will
always have to be present:
proclamation of the Word,
acceptance of the Gospel
entailing conversion,
profession of faith, Baptism
itself, the outpouring of the
Holy Spirit, and admission to
Eucharistic communion.”
(CCC 1229)
Saturday, 8 July 2017 Facilitators' Formation Slide 12
13. ▪ It is the journey through which adults enter into full
sacramental communion with
❖ Jesus Christ (Head),
❖ and the Catholic Church (Body of Christ).
What is RCIA?
Saturday, 8 July 2017 Facilitators' Formation Slide 13
14. By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
a human person is drawn into
the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit.

15. CHRIST-ian
Sunday, 9 July 2017 Opening Night Slide 15
Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty
idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a
new horizon and a decisive direction.
(Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI)
16. Spiritual
journey of faith
• Though you
have not seen
him, you
desire him (cf.
1 Peter 1: 8).
Spiritual
journey of
conversion
and renewal of
both heart and
mind
• We are
informed,
formed, and
transformed
through
Jesus, with
Jesus, and in
Jesus.
Spiritual
journey of
falling in love
with God and
His Church
• For God has
made us for
himself, and
our hearts are
restless till
they rest in
him (St
Augustine).

God.
▪ It will decide what will get you out of
bed in the morning,
▪ what you do with your evenings,
▪ how you will spend your weekends,
▪ what you read, whom you know,
▪ what breaks your heart,
▪ and what amazes you with joy and
gratitude.
Fall in love and stay in love (with God),
and it will decide everything.
