Job market went through significant changes in past couple of years. The skills companies are looking for in a new recruits has changed as well. ICT literacy and analytical thinking became “must have” for all job seekers everywhere. School curriculum based on theoretical knowledge and memorizing fails to deliver that.
These statistics are real and reflect alarming situation we are facing in Kenya. Unemployment among youth is even higher - around 60%. Lack of job opportunities often resolve in attempts to establish a new companies. This is a good sign in economy because small and medium enterprises are essential for every economy. But without skills how to run it, they fail very quickly. Sote ICT schools programme is aiming on solving these issues through ICT integration and training companies curriculum.
Training companies simulate real business. Their organizational structure and documents are identical with real companies as well. So they provide inside into how the firm works. This way students learn through practical experience.
Our training companies also have cooperation with Slovak ones which allows them to gain new experience and enhance students’ skills.
But it does not stop at that. Training companies can also generate real income for themselves and for the clubs to cover internet and other costs. There are many ways how to accomplish that – through small membership fees, membership cards, selling the products etc.
Every company should eventually have all the materials in the training company check-list.
