The 2G spectrum scam in India involved politicians and telecom executives undercharging mobile companies for additional 2G licenses and bandwidth at the cost of around $39 billion to the Indian government. The sale of licenses and bandwidth caused a loss of revenue for the government and benefited private companies. The 2G scam also involved irregularities in the sale of the Admiral Gorshkov, a Russian aircraft carrier, to India at an inflated price.
