Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

1. Zagor Te-Nej (Zagor-Te-Ney) – Gospodar Darkvuda. Glavni lik stripa koji su stvorili scenarista
Serđo Boneli (vidi Boneli Serđo) i crtač Galijeno Feri (vidi Feri Galijeno). Njegovo ime na
jeziku Algonkina (vidi Algonkini) znači Duh Sa Sekirom.
Nastanak Zagora
Zagor je nastao 1961. godine, kada je Serđo Boneli osetio kako je strip publici potreban novi
junak, koji će odudarati od standardnih vestern likova, koji su tada dominirali u izdavačkoj kući
Serđo Boneli Editore (vidi Serđo Boneli Editore). Po svojim karakteristikama, Zagor je najbliži
super-herojima koji su karakteristični za Američki strip, mada je istovremeno sačuvao i atribute
matičnog, italijanskog stripa. Na nastanak samog Zagora, najveći uticaj su imali tri etablirana
strip junaka: Fantom, Tarzan i Supermen. Zagor predstavlja simbiozu sva tri, mada je uticaj
Fantoma na njegov nastanak bio presudan. Ovaj lik, koga su stvorili Li Falk (Lee Falk) i Rej Mur
(Ray Moore) 1936. godine, bio je prvi kostimirani junak u svetu stripa. Uticaj koji je Fantom
imao na nastanak Zagora je očigledan. I jedan i drugi imaju kostim po kome su prepoznatljivi,
obojica žive u izmišljenoj šumi u kojoj se bore za pravdu i smatraju je svojim kraljevstvom,
lokalno stanovništvo ih smatra besmrtnima, obojica su u izvrsnoj kondiciji koju održavaju
stalnom vežbom i i jedan i drugi imaju nadimak koji asocira na to da dolaze iz drugog sveta.
Fantom je Duh koji hoda, a Zagor Duh Sa Sekirom.
Uticaj Tarzana, gospodara džungle koga je stvorio Edgar Rajs Barouz (Edgar Rice Burroughs)
1912. godine, vidi se u načinu na koji se i jedan i drugi kreću kroz šumu, prebacujući se sa lijane
na lijanu i što obojica imaju ratni poklič, od koga se neprijateljima diže kosa na glavi. Zagorov
poklič glasi: AAAHHJAAAAKKKK, a kako to zvuči, čitaoci mogu sami da zamisle. Uticaj
Supermena, najpoznatijeg svetskog super junaka iz stripa, koga su stvorili Džerom Sigel (Jerome
Siegel) i Džozef Šuster (Joseph Shuster) 1938. godine, vidi se u Zagorovom kostimu.
Supermenov znak na grudima je inspirisao Bonelija i Ferija, da zajedno stvore karakterističan
znak, crnu siluetu orla u žutom krugu (simbolizuje sunce), koji Zagor nosi se prednje strane
svoje crvene majce. Drugi scenarista Zagora, Moreno Buratini (vidi Buratini Moreno), četrdeset
godina kasnije je osmislio i priču o nastanku simbola: u pitanju je Ptica Groma – Vakinijan-
Tanka (Wakinyan-Tanka), duh dobra iz indijanskih legendi.
Vizuelno, Zagorov lik je kao uzor imao američkog glumca Roberta Tejlora (Robert Taylor),
međutim Feri ga vremenom prilagođava svom licu, pa Gospodar Darkvuda postaje slika i prilika
svog likovnog tvorca.
Za epohu u kojoj se odvija priča o Zagoru, Boneli je odabrao tridesete godine XIX veka, i tako
postavio sasvim originalan koncept, jer se većina italijanskih stripova do tada odvijala u
klasičnom vestern ambijentu, u periodu po završetku Američkog građanskog rata (1861-1865).
Amerika, kao lokacija, u to doba je bila neupitna. Kada je u pitanju ime koje je Boneli dao svom
junaku, u početku je figurirao naziv Ajaks (Aiax), po legendarnom ahajskom junaku Ajantu, čija
je latinska varijanta imena Ajaks, poznata ljubiteljima fudbala pre svega po slavnom holandskom
klubu iz Amsterdama. Ovo ime je odbačeno, jer je tada u Italiji veliku popularnost uživao
deterdžent istog imena. Po Bonelijevoj priči, onda je rešio da stilski analizira slova abecede, a Z
mu se učinilo najpogodnijim za naslovnu stranu, jer ga je podsećalo na stilizovanu munju.
Pretpostavka je da je slog Za uzeo iz imena junaka Za-La-Morta, a drugi slog Gor iz imena
poznatog strip heroja iz tridesetih godina – Flaša Gordona.
Legenda o Duhu sa sekirom
Gospodar Darkvuda je rođen početkom XIX veka kao Patrik Vajlding (Patrick Wilding), sin Beti
(vidi Beti Vajlding) i Majka Vajldinga (vidi Majk Vajlding), pionira irskog porekla, u delu
Darkvuda poznatom kao Klier Voter, po istoimenoj rečici koja tuda protiče. Zagor je imao
2. detinjstvo kakvo se samo poželeti može, jer mu je život u šumi svakodnevno pružao mogućnosti
za avanturu. Obrazovanje je dobio od majke, koja je uspela da opismeni malog divljaka i bar
delimično prenese nešto od onoga što je naučila u Evropi. Otac se bavio lovom i tako uspevao da
prehrani porodicu. Indijanci iz kraja su im bili česti posetioci, jer je Majk sa njima razmenjivao
krzna, kože i druge namirnice. To je malom Patriku omogućilo da upozna američke domoroce i
počne da uči njihove jezike. Ova idila je iznenada brutalno prekinuta, kada je grupa Abenaki
(vidi Abenaki) Indijanaca, predvođenih Solomonom Kinskim (vidi Solomon Kinski), napala
kolibu porodice Vajlding. Shvativši da su izgubljeni, Majk je bacio malog Patrika u reku, kako bi
se bar on spasao, pošto su on i Beti odlučili da se ubiju, kako ne bi živi pali u ruke napadačima.
Dečaka je voda odnela daleko od mesta tragedije, a iz vode ga je spasao čudan čovek po imenu
Vandering Fici (vidi Fici, Natanijel Ficdžeraldson). Fici je nekada bio trgovac u Bostonu, ali se
razočarao u civilizaciju i ljude, pa je odlučio da ode na zapad i započne život u divljini. Na
dečakov nagovor, njih dvojica odlaze do kolibe Vajldingovih i zatiču je spaljenu. Fici sahranjuje
Patrikove roditelje, a tu, na njihovom grobu, budući Gospodar Darkvuda se zaklinje da će ih
osvetiti.
I pored toga što je planirao da dečaka odvede u Fort Džejms, Fici na dečakove molbe odlučuje da
ostane s njim, kako ga ne bi poslali u neko sirotište na istoku. Tako je Patrik dobio drugog oca.
Uz Ficija je naučio mnoge tajne života u šumi, i što je najvažnije, naučio je da se služi sekirom,
koja će kasnije postati njegovo najjače oružje. Kao čovek bez predrasuda, koji nije pravio razliku
po boji kože, već je ljude delio isključivo na dobre i loše, Fici je mladiću preneo moralnu poruku
koja će kasnije postati najizraženija karakterna osobina Duha sa sekirom. Njih dvojica su desetak
godina lutali Darkvudskom šumom, a kada je Patrik dostigao fizičku snagu, neophodnu za
izvršenje svoje dotadašnje životne misije, počeo je da traga za ubicama svojih roditelja. Fici je
pokušavao da ga odgovori od te namere, ali nije želeo da insistira na tome. Jednostavno mu je
stavio do znanja da kopanje po starim ranama neće oživeti njegove roditelje. Na Patrikovu izjavu
da krivac mora da dobije zasluženu kaznu, Fici je izgovorio jednu od najvećih životnih
istina:''Krivac i zaslužena kazna su samo velike i prazne reči, a pravda kao i istina nikada nisu
samo na jednoj strani''. Ove njegove reči će se pokazati proročanskim.
U jednom gradiću, na istočnoj obali jezera Ontario, Patrik je konačno ušao u trag Solomonu
Kinskom. Međutim, iako je on očekivao da če dobiti informacije o otpadniku koji predvodi
bandu Indijanaca, saznao je da je Kinski na čelu miroljubivog plemena Abenaka, koje je
preobratio u hrišćanstvo i naučio ih da obrađuju zemlju kao što to čine belci. Niko u kraju nije
imao problema sa njim i njegovim Indijancima. I pored toga, mladić odlučuje da sprovede svoju
osvetu. Ubrzo se rastao od Ficija, koga nije želeo da uvlači u svoje ubilačke planove i pripremio
plan za napad. Godine života u divljini i nesalomiva želja za osvetom načinili su od njega mašinu
za ubijanje. Napao je Indijance koji su obrađivali zemlju na polju, a zatim nestao među drvećem.
Polako ih je uvlačio u zamku i ubijao jednog po jednog. A onda je udario frontalno. Zapaljenim
strelama je precizno pogađao kolibe Abenaka što je u selu izazvalo paniku. Solomon Kinski je
doneo mudru odluku da spase žene i decu, pa je naredio da čamcima pobegnu na ostrvce preko
puta sela. On je sa dvojicom ratnika ostao da sačeka misterioznog napadača.
Patrik je kao zver uleteo u selo i savladao Indijance a onda navalio na Solomona. Pročitavši
neljudsku mržnju u njegovim očima, Kinski se zabarakadirao u brvnari u centru sela. Međutim,
Patrikova sekira je uradila svoj deo posla i on je provalio u kolibu. Kinski je pucao u njega, ali ga
ja Patrikova sekira preduhitrila. Pogođen u rame vođa Abenaka se pomirio sa sudbinom ali je
želeo da sazna ko je on i zašto ga toliko mrzi. Mladić se predstavio i tada saznao tužnu istinu.
Solomon Kinski mu je ispričao ko je bio njegov otac i kakav je strašan zločin počinio. Za svoju
3. priču on je imao i dokaze u vidu novinskih članaka i vojnih izveštaja o zločinu koji je poručnik
američke vojske Majk Vajlding izvršio nad miroljubivim Abenakima na Silver Lejku. Vojska je
tada tragala za bandom Krik Indijanaca (vidi Krik), pa je odred predvođen poručnikom
Vajldingom stigao do sela pokrštenih Abenaka na Silver Lejku. U šatorima su pronašli skrivene
Krik Indijance koje su Abenaki sakrili. Tada je poručnik Vajlding naredio vojnicima da pobiju
pola sela za kaznu što su pomogli banditima. Zbog ovog zločina, on je samo oteran iz vojske i
osramoćen. Još jednom, pravda nije bila ista za belce i Indijance. Zbog toga je Kinski rešio da
sprovede pravdu i ubije zločinca. Dok je Patrik sa nevericom i očajem čitao novinske naslove
koji su nedvosmisleno optuživali njegovog oca, Kinski je ponovo uzeo pištolj i nanišanio u
Patrika. Tada je u kolibu iznenada ušao Fici i pokušao da ga spreči da ubije mladića. Kinski je
pucao u Ficija, a ovaj ga je sekirom pogodio u glavu. Kinski je bio na mestu mrtav, a Fici smrtno
ranjen. Posle nekoliko minuta i Zagorov drugi otac je preminuo.
Tako je mladi Patrik zbog svoje osvete izgubio sve ono što je voleo: idealizovanu sliku o svom
pravom ocu i svog jedinog prijatelja i čoveka koji ga je podigao, Ficija Lutalicu. Uz to, gonjen
besom je okrvavio ruke i ubio ko zna koliko nevinih ljudi. Otišao je u šumu i lutao satima dok
nije pao od umora. Snovi koje je usnio mu nisu doneli olakšanje. Kad se probudio, doneo je
odluku koja će obeležiti njegov život. Rešio je da se iskupi za zlo koje je učinio i posveti život
uspostavljanju mira između Indijanaca i belaca. Postaće borac za pravdu u Darkvudu i nikada
neće ubiti čoveka ako na to nije primoran. Tako je počela da se rađa legenda o Duhu sa sekirom.
Ali, to je bio samo početak. Sledećih nekoliko godina, mladi Patrik je proveo pomažući ljudima
koji su zapali u nevolju, boreći se protiv belih razbojnika i trgovaca alkoholom i oružjem, te
indijanskih bandi koje su napadale nemoćne pionire. Ali, to je još bilo daleko od spektakularnog
izlaska na scenu i nastanka Zagora Te-Neja. Za to mu je bila potrebna pomoć profesionalaca.
Jednom prilikom, Patrik je spasao trupu putujućih glumaca od indijanske bande. Bili su to
Salivenovi (vidi Salivenovi), otac Tobija i sinovi Horacije i Romeo. Kada im je ispričao svoju
priču i objasnio svoju životnu misiju, oni su rešili da režiraju veličanstven izlazak na scenu.
Pomogli su mu da osmisli ime i kostim, a uz pomoć raznih scenskih trikova, omogućili su mu
spektakularno pojavljivanje na Velikom prolećnom sastanku svih poglavica iz Darkvuda. Prvo
pojavljivanje Duha sa sekirom je bilo propraćeno pirotehničkim i zvučnim efektima iz arsenala
Salivenovih, a onda se novi Gospodar Darkvuda predstavio Indijancima. Objasnio im je da je tu
po Manituovoj (vidi Kiki Manitu) volji, kako bi sačuvao mir u Darkvudu. Veliki duh ga je poslao
da odbrani Indijance od nepravde bledolikih i da ih nauči da žive jedni sa drugima. Kao što je za
očekivati, nisu sve poglavice bespogovorno prihvatile novog vladara. Poglavica Vijandota (vidi
Vijandoti) Oga-Ito (vidi Oga-Ito) optužio ga je da je prevarant i izazvao na dvoboj. Duh Sa
Sekirom je prihvatio izazov i u časnom dvoboju ubio Oga-Ita. Tog trenutka je rođena legenda o
Zagoru Te-Neju, Duhu sa sekirom na jeziku Algonkina (vidi Algonkini), koji je za svoju bazu
odabrao malo ostrvce u močvari Mo-Hi-La. Nedugo zatim, dobio je novog nerazdvojnog
prijatelja, malog debelog Meksikanca, velikog imena i apetita, Felipe Kaetana Lopeza i
Martineza, a za prijatelje Čika. Njegov dolazak u Darkvud na brodu Meribel, predstavlja početak
strip serijala o Zagoru.
Istorijska realnost u stripu Zagor
Tridesetih godina XIX veka SAD su bile država u teritorijalnoj i industrijskoj ekspanziji.
Proterivanje Indijanaca preko reke Misisipi, počev od 1830. godine, kako bi se obezbedila zemlja
za bele naseljenike predstavlja početak delimičnog uništenja i marginalizacije američkih
domorodaca. Prvi su na udaru bili Indijanci sa istočne obale, koji su čestim ratovima i zaraznim
bolestima koje su doneli belci, već bili desetkovani. Priča o Zagoru direktno govori o ovoj tužnoj
4. činjenici, jer se i fiktivni Darkvud nalazi u području koje tih godina doživljava veliki preobražaj.
Područje Velikih jezera i severni tok Misisipija su u ovom periodu predstavljali granicu između
''bele'' i ''divlje'' Amerike. Vojna utvrđenja, koja su u Darkvudu mnogobrojna, govore o
specifičnoj vojnoj upravi, karakterističnoj za sve novoposednute zemlje u bilo kom delu sveta i u
svim istorijskim razdobljima. Prva netačnost koja se potkrala autorima stripa, odnosi se na
uniforme koje vojnici nose. Američka vojska tridesetih godina nije nosila iste uniforme kao u
periodu za vreme i posle Američkog građanskog rata (1861-1865). Pretpostavka je da je ova
greška bila namerna, jer je za kompletnu sliku o propasti Indijanaca, čitaocima bilo lakše da
prihvate kostimografiju na koju su navikli u stripovima o Divljem zapadu. Prepoznatljive plave
bluze, sa svojim šeširima i šapkama, su se zahvaljujući filmu i stripu odavne ucrtale u glavama
prvih čitalaca Zagora. Međutim, u dve epizode su američki vojnici ipak nosili uniforme
odgovarajuće epohe. Bilo je to u epizodama Il grande inganno – Velika obmana (br. 209; ZS
681; VČOP 6) iz 1982. godine i Una pallottola per Kelso – Metak za Kelsa (br. 410; LU 73) iz
1999. godine. Međutim, ova dva slučaja su izuzetak i moguće je da su predstavljale test koji nije
prošao.
Istorijske greške su bile znatno češće u prvim brojevima, kada su često indijanska plemena
smeštana u neodgovarajući ambijent. Kasnije su se autori trudili da se takve greške više ne
ponavljaju. Međutim, uzimajući u obzir da je Zagor avanturistički strip, istorijsko-tehnološke
greške koje se kasnije javljaju, ne smemo da prestrogo ocenimo, jer bi sama priča izgubila draž.
Pre svega to je oružje koje Zagor koristi. Revolver je tek 1836. godine patentirao Semjuel Kolt,
ali to ne smeta da ne samo Zagor, već i gotovo svi naoružani ljudi u stripu koriste revolvere.
Puške repetirke su takođe normalna pojava u priči o Zagoru, mada su u to vreme još uvek u
upotrebi bile muskete. Međutim, ono što zaista bode oči je pojava mitraljeza u epizodi Guerra –
Rat (br. 31; ZS 13; SDX 69; VČBZ 11) iz 1968. godine, mada je ovo oružje konstruisao 1851.
godine, belgijski kapetan Fafšamps. Deset godina kasnije, američki pronalazač Dr Ričard Gatling
je konstruisao prvi američki mitraljez, koji je po njemu nazvan Gatling top. Ova greška je
ponovljena i u nekim od sledećih epizoda. Pojava alpskog skijanja u epizodi I falchi delle nevi –
Snežni sokolovi (br. 78; ZS 259; ZS 1001; SDX 24; LUKL 14) iz 1971. godine, još jedan je
sličan primer. Ne smemo zaboraviti ni izume Helingena (vidi Helingen), Veribada (vidi Veribad)
i Barona Ikarovog Pera (vidi baron Ikarovo Pero), koji su sasvim očigledno ispred svog vremena.
Istorijskih ličnosti u Bonelijevom i Toninelijevom (vidi Tonineli Marčelo) periodu nije bilo,
mada su neki od likova koje je stvorio Serđo Boneli očigledna aluzija na prave ličnosti. Pre
svega to je Manetola (vidi Manetola), poglavica Seminola (vidi Seminoli), koji je stvoren po
ugledu na slavnog poglavicu Osceolu, koji je kao i Manetola doživeo tragičnu sudbinu.
Kolekcionar (vidi Kolekcionar) izgledom i aktivnošću asocira na Bufalo Bila, a za ulogu
generala Kastera ima nekoliko kandidata među američkim oficirima koji se pojavljuju u stripu. U
epizodi Ora zero – Nulti čas (br. 108; ZS 324; LUX 115; VČOP 5) iz 1974. godine, pojavljuje se
i neimenovani američki predsednik za koga mnogo godina kasnije saznajemo da je tada aktuelni
Endrju Džekson (vidi Džekson Endrju), što nam je otkriveno u epizodi La lunga marcia – Dugo
putovanje (Maxi 2001; LUMAX 2) iz 2001. godine. Priča o Bou Vindamu (vidi Ričard Bo
Vindam), svojevrstan je omaž čuvenom putovanju Merivedera Luisa i Vilijama Klarka, koji su
prošli istim putem na samom početku XIX veka, kada su SAD kupile od Napoleona Bonaparte
francusku koloniju Lujzijanu. I priča o Gutrumu (vidi Gutrum) i njegovim vikinzima oslanja se
na neosporne istorijske činjenice o vikinškoj koloniji Vinland, koju je u današnjoj Kanadi, oko
1000. godine, osnovao Leif Erikson. Kada su pisanje priča o Zagoru preuzeli Buratini (vidi
Buratini Moreno) i Boseli (vidi Boseli Mauro), u skladu sa novom koncepcijom koja je
5. podrazumevala veće poštovanje istorijskih činjenica, pojavljuje se niz istorijskih ličnosti kao što
su Žan Lafit (vidi Lafit Žan), Sekvoja (vidi Sekvoja), Stiven Ostin (vidi Ostin Stiven) i drugi.
Izdavaštvo
Prvi broj Zagora se u prodaji pojavio jula 1961. godine, u ediciji Kolana Lampo (Collana
Lampo), u tada uobičajenom strip formatu, karakterističnim po tome što je jedna strana
odgovarala jednom kaišu. Strip ne uspeva da odmah postigne uspeh, pre svega jer jer je Serđo
Boneli nakon prve epizode zapao u kreativnu krizu. Umesto njega sledećih nekoliko epizoda su
napisali Feri i stariji Boneli. Po naivnosti ovih prvih epizoda i stereotipnim temama nikako se
nije moglo pretpostaviti da će Zagor uskoro postati jedan od najpopularnijih italijanskih stripova.
Bonelijevim povratkom 1963. godine, priča o Zagoru polako dobija na kvalitetu i uskoro postaje
jedna od najuspešnijih izdanja SBE početkom šezdesetih.
Zahvaljujući tome, u julu 1965. godine Zagor počinje da izlazi u ediciji Zenit Gigant (Zenith
Gigante) u takozvanom ''Boneli'' formatu, 16x21cm, i to reizdanja od prvog broja. U ovoj ediciji
su pre Zagora izlazila reizdanja drugih SBE stripova. U ediciji Kolana Lampo, izdanja Zagora su
nastavljena do 1970. godine, kada se edicija gasi. Od broja 68, Zagor izlazi isključivo u velikom
formatu. Prelazak na veliki format , omogućio je Boneliju da bolje razrađuje priče, što mu u
malom formatu nije bilo moguće, jer je bilo neophodno da se odmah razvije radnja. Zagorove
priče postaju duže, višeslojnije i samim time kvalitetnije, što dovodi do toga da Zagor postane
najuspešniji i najprodavaniji italijanski strip u periodu od 1972. do 1976. godine, pa se zbog toga
naziva i Zagorovim zlatnim periodom. U ovom periodu Zagorove epizode su naizmenično crtali
Feri i Donateli (vidi Donateli Franko), a povremeno je uskakao i Franko Binjoti (vidi Binjoti
Franko). Scenario je potpisivao isključivo Serđo Boneli. Od broja 85 se ređaju kultne avanture
kao što su Angoscia! - Teskoba (br: 85; LUX 93; VČOP 3; LUKL 18) i Odissea Americana –
Američka odiseja (br. 88; ZS 279; ZSSP 2; LUX 96; LUKL 19) iz 1972. godine, Liberta’ o
morte – Sloboda ili smrt (br. 91; ZS 284; ZS 932; LUX 99; LUKL 20), Vudu! – Vudu (br. 93;
ZS 290; LUX 101, LUKL 21), Capitan Serpente – Kapetan Zmija (br. 99; ZS 299; LUX 107;
LUKL 22) i Il mio amico Guitar Jim – Moj prijatelj Džimi Gitara (br. 100; ZS 312; LUSP 4) iz
1973. godine, I ribelli della Luisiana – Pobunjenici iz Lujzijane (br. 102; ZS 305; LUX 109), Il
buono e il cattivo – Dobar i loš (br. 104; ZS 317; LUX 111), Ora zero – Nulti čas (br. 108; ZS
324; LUX 115; VČOP 5) i Tre uomini in pericolo – Trojica u opasnosti (br. 110; ZS 330; LUX
117) iz 1974. godine, La marcia della disperazione – Očajničko putovanje (br. 114; ZS 338;
LUX 121), La scure e la sciabola – Sekira i sablja (br. 118; ZS 347; LUX 125; VČOP 4), La
rabbia degli Osages – Bes ratnika Osaga (br. 119; ZS 352; LUX 126) i La settima prova – Sedma
runda (br. 125; ZS 361; LUX 132; VČOP 13) iz 1975. godine, Agli ordini dello Zar – U službi
cara (br. 126; ZS 366; LUX 133), Il fantasma di Stone-Hill – Duh iz Stoun Hila (br. 130; ZS 382;
LUX 137), Sandy River – Sendi River (br. 133; ZS 374; LUX 140) i Tigre! – Tigar (br. 136; ZS
389; LUX 143) iz 1976. godine. Teško je od ovih priča odabrati najbolju, ali nakon ovog
fenomenalnog niza kvalitet priča počinje da opada. Izgleda da se i Serđo Boneli umorio, pa
pisanje počinje da prepušta i drugim autorima. Definitivan oproštaj ''Gvida Nolite'' od Zagora se
dogodio 1980. godine, a poslednja epizoda koju je otac Zagora napisao je bila Magia senza
tempo – Večna magija (br. 182; ZS 588; LUX 189; VČOP 10). Međutim, do 1983. godine, on
nastavlja sa pisanjem Specijala o Čiku, koji je startovao 1979. godine, a onda u potpunosti
prekida scenarističke aktivnosti u Zagorovom timu.
Sledećih nekoliko godina na Zagorovom serijalu se smenjuju razni autori, dok u SBE sve više
zaključuju kako je neophodno pronaći naslednika Serđu Boneliju. To uskoro postaje Marčelo
Tonineli, koji je sledećih desetak godina bio glavni autor Zagorovog tima. Iako je u početku
6. uspevao da održi nivo iz Bonelijevog perioda, uskoro kvalitet priča počinje da opada i Zagor
dospeva u duboku krizu koja je vrhunac dostigla 1990. godine. Četiri godine ranije, 1986., SBE
je pokrenuo drugo reizdanje Zagorovih epizoda, Tuto Zagor (Tutto Zagor), u kojima su
ispravljane greške iz ranijih izdanja, a od 1988. počinje da izlazi i Zagor Specijal. Ovi potezi su
povlačeni kako bi se serijal spasao i mlađi čitaoci upoznali sa starim epizodama, ali sama
činjenica da se Tuto Zagor prodavao mnogo bolje od redovne serije dovodi do toga da Serđo
Boneli razmišlja da završi serijal. Tonineli predlaže radikalan rez kako bi spasao serijal, ali mu
ideja nije odobrena. Zbog toga on napušta SBE, a serijal se ipak ne gasi zahvaljujući dvojici
novih autora Moreno Buratini i Mauro Boseli. Od 1993. godine, Zagor doživljava renesansu.
Novi autori započinju modernizaciju lika, prilagođavaju ga devedesetim godinama ali mu ne
menjaju suštinu, i u tim dovode čitav niz novih crtača kao što su Andreuči (vidi Andreuči
Stefano), Dela Monika (vidi Dela Monika Rafaele), Kiarola (vidi Kiarola Alesandro) i drugi.
Smrću Binjotija i Donatelija početkom devedesetih, Feri je ostao jedini od starih ilustratora u
Zagorovom timu. On nastavlja da crta sve naslovne strane do danas. Rad dvojice novih autora
sve više prilagođava Zagora istorijskom kontekstu razdoblja u kojem se priča odvija, a posle
desetak godina Toninelijeve statičnosti, kada se Zagor gotovo uopšte nije micao iz Darkvuda,
novi autori ga odvode na duga putovanja po Americi, Evropi i Africi. Kvalitet priča ponovo
raste, a sa njim i prodaja. Ovo je za posledicu imalo pokretanje još dva nova izdanja: Almanah
Avantura (Almanacco Avventura) 1997. godine i Maxi Zagor 2000. godine. Početkom novog
veka, Boseli sve manje piše za Zagora i posvećuje se drugim izdanjima SBE, pa Buratini postaje
glavni autor, a od 2007. godine i glavni urednik Zagorovih izdanja.
Nažalost, tri meseca nakon što je proslavljen Zagorov pedeseti rođendan, 26. septembra 2011.
godine, umro je Serđo Boneli, Zagorov idejni tvorac.
U bivšoj Jugoslaviji Zagor je počeo da izlazi 1968. godine u dve edicije novosadskog Dnevnika,
Zlatnoj Seriji i Lunov Magnus Stripu. Prva epizoda koja je objavljena u SFRJ je bila Guerra –
Rat (br. 31; ZS 13; SDX 69; VČBZ 11) koja je objavljena pod nazivom Nasilje u Darkvudu (ZS
13). Karakteristika prvih izdanja Zagora u Jugoslaviji je bilo skraćivanje broja stranica (što je
učinjeno u prvom izdanju pa smo tako dobili potpuno drugačiji kraj od originalnog), povremena
cenzura, promena imena likova (bez nekog objašnjivog razloga), retuširanje originalnih crteža i
nepoštovanje originalne hronologije. Uz to, format Dnevnikovih izdanja je dimenzija 15x21cm,
pa se nije poklapao sa tzv Boneli formatom. Epizoda Zagor – Zagor (br. 1; LMS 29; ZS 454;
SDX 31; HOTZ 1; VČBZ 1; LUBZ 1) ili La foresta degli agguati – Šuma zamki u ex-YU prvi
put objavljena 1971. pod nazivom Hiljadu zamki (LMS), kao sedamnaesta priča o Zagoru. U
početku Zagor izlazi paralelno u obe edicije, da bi od 1971. do 1975.godine izlazio isključivo u
LMS, kada se vraća u ZS, gde izlazi neprekidno do gašenja edicije 1992. godine. U tom periodu
je objavljeno 304 broja u ZS, 41 u LMS i 15 specijalnih brojeva (u pitanju su specijali o Čiku,
Zagor specijali i reizdanja nekih starih epizoda). Osim Dnevnika, strip Zagor je osamdesetih
godina povremeno objavljivao i Strip Zabavnik, još jedna strip edicija novosadskog Dnevnika.
Tako je osim reizdanja nekih brojeva u SZ izašao i jubilarni broj Il tesoro maledetto - Prokleto
blago (br: 200; LUSP 12), u boji i u velikom formatu. Ukupno je bilo sedam izdanja Zagora koja
nisu izašla u edicijama ZS i LMS. Uz to, 1984. godine je Dnevnik izdao i Zagor – Album sa
samolepljivim sličicama.
Kada je u SFRJ počeo Građanski rat (1991-1995), Zagor nestaje sa kioska u Sloveniji i
Hrvatskoj, tako da poslednja četiri broja koja su objavljena u Srbiji, nisu izašla u zapadnim
republikama. Pokretanje Zagora u Hrvatskoj je započela splitska Slobodna Dalmacija 1994.
godine, i to od epizode koja u Hrvatskoj nije objavljena Caccia al lupo – Lov na vuka (br. 316;
7. ZS 1093; SD 1). Za razliku od Dnevnikovih, izdanja SD su bila identična Bonelijevom formatu
16x21cm, štampa i papir su bili daleko kvalitetniji, i nije bilo izbacivanja strana, retuširanja i
cenzure. Ona su bila identična izdanjima SBE. Međutim, posle nekoliko epizoda, SD preskače
20 brojeva i od tada prati originalnu hronologiju. Ovo izdanje postiže veliki uspeh, pa od 1996.
godine, SD pokreće i seriju Extra Zagor, u kojoj objavljuje reizdanja prvih epizoda. Ali, ova
serija počinje od epizode Zagor racconta... - Zagor priča (br. 55; LMS 99; SDX 1; LUKL 1) iz
1970. godine, da bi se se posle 30 brojeva priča vratila na sam početak.
Za to vreme u Srbiji, beogradski BPA (Beogradska Press Agencija), tokom 1994. godine izdaje
svoju strip ediciju STRIP Razonoda, u kojoj objavljuje reizdanja starih stripova novosadskog
Dnevnika. U pitanju je vrlo nekvalitetan projekat, bez regulisanja autorskih prava, koji propada
čim su SRJ ukinute sankcije 1995. godine. Sledeće, 1996. godine, započet je prvi ozbiljniji
pokušaj obnavljanja strip izdanja u Srbiji. U pitanju je projekat novosadskog izdavača Horus,
koji predstavlja direktan nastavak Dnevnikovih izdanja. Uz Zagora, Horus je objavljivao i druge
stripove SBE, kao i one drugih kuća koji su izlazili u edicijama ZS i LMS. Osim redovnih
izdanja (izašlo je ukupno pet brojeva, 342-346), Horus je započeo i ediciju Tuto Zagor (reizdanja
prvih brojeva, 1-3), Specijal (samo jedan broj, Specijal 1), Zagor Extra (samo br. 184) i Zagor
predstavlja (dve epizode specijala o Čiku). Ova edicija koja i nije bila toliko loša propada posle
par godina, pre svega zbog loše prodaje, jer u konkurenciji sa izdanjima SD nikako nije imala
prođu.
Novi ozbiljniji pokušaj se dogodio 2001. godine, kada izdavačka kuća Vanini počinje da izdaje
Zagora i još tri junaka izdavačke kuće SBE. Vaninijeva izdanja su veoma ličila na Horusova, ali
edicija u početku uspeva (izdavali su brojeve koje SD još nije objavila), ali posle šest meseci,
period između izlaska dva broja se produžava i edicija se uskoro gasi. Vanini je objavio ukupno
sedam brojeva (411-417).
U Hrvatskoj u međuvremenu nastaju krupne promene. Prava na izdavanje stripova SBE, od SD
otkupljuje 2002. godine, novonastala izdavačka kuća iz Zagreba – Ludens. SD je do tada
objavila 71 broj redovne serije i 75 brojeva Zagor Extra. Ludens nastavlja numeraciju SD, ubrzo
objavljuje onih dvadeset brojeva koje je SD preskočila i počinje da izdaje serijale Specijal, Maxi
i Almanah Avantura. Uz to, pokreće i ediciju Zagor Klasik u kojoj objavljuje reizdanja prvih
epizoda koje je SD objavila u ediciji Zagor Extra, a od 2011. i ediciju Biblioteka Zagor. Jedina
promena u odnosu na SD je format koji se neznatno razlikuje: 15x21cm, identičan nekadašnjim
izdanjima ZS i LMS novosadskog Dnevnika.
U Srbiji 2004. godine beogradski Abaton ponovo pokušava da pokrene strip izdavaštvo, ali su
njegova izdanja lošeg kvaliteta, pa posle godinu dana i šest objavljenih brojeva (420-425) i ovaj
pokušaj propada. Konačno, u februaru 2008. godine na kioscima u Srbiji se pojavljuje Il segreto
dei Sumeri – Tajna Sumera (br. 469; VČ 1; LU 152), beogradskog Veselog Četvrtka.
Obnavljanje strip izdavaštva u Srbiji uspeva iz četvrtog pokušaja. Veseli Četvrtak uspeva da
kvalitetom konkuriše Ludensu i direktno je odgovoran za renesansu stripa koja se dogodila u
Srbiji te godine. Uz Zagora objavljuju se i drugi SBE stripovi, među kojima i neki koje hrvatske
izdavačke kuće nisu objavljivale. VČ uskoro počinje da objavljuje i edicije Zagor Odabrane
priče, Specijal i Čiko Specijal, a vrhunac predstavlja bogato opremljeno HC izdanje prvih
Zagorovih epizoda, Biblioteka Zagor, u kojoj se hronološki objavljuju od samog početka.
U drugim državama bivše SFRJ od 2009. godine u Makedoniji Zagora izdaje izdavačka kuća
Warm Comics (Варм Комикс). Ludens ima ekskluzivno pravo uz Hrvatsku i za Sloveniju dok u
Bosni i Hercegovini to pravo deli sa Veselim Četvrtkom (Ludens u Federaciji a Veseli Četvrtak
u Republici Srpskoj). Što se tiče Crne Gore, to tržište od 2008. pokriva Veseli Četvrtak, a ranije
8. Ludens. Osim u Italiji i zemljama bivše Jugoslavije, Zagor danas izlazi i u Brazilu, Grčkoj,
Danskoj, Francuskoj, Izraelu, Portugaliji, Španiji i Turskoj, gde je početkom sedamdesetih bio
toliko popularan da su tada snimljena tri filma, od kojih je najpoznatiji onaj iz 1971. godine
Zagor kara korsan'in hazineleri - Zagor i blago crnog pirata. Ranije je izlazio u Nemačkoj, gde se
zvao Roki (Rocky), Austriji i u još nekim državama. Svetozar Ljubojević, režiser-entuzijasta iz
Novog Sada, snimio je 2005. godine amaterski film Poglavica bez plemena, akcionu trash
komediju. U Italiji je muzičar Gracijano Romani (Graziano Romani) 2009. godine snimio album
posvećen Zagoru – Zagor king of Darkwood. Srpski muzički bend iz Beograda, nastao početkom
devedesetih nosi ime Darkwood Dub.
