Your friend remarked, “A company will never drop a product from its product line that has a positive contribution margin. It will want to garner every bit of profit that it can.” Is this true in all cases? What are the risks and benefits of evaluating product continuation or implementation using the contribution margin?
1)
Regarding the solution below. The contribution margin mainly looks at the variable costs. What potential problems could result from the product's associated fixed costs?
In this case it is important to evaluate what the friend means by positive contribution as it can be lower and higher. It is important for the firm to have an overall high product contribution in order to maintain a high profit level. The contribution levels for all products must be analysed in order to calculate the contribution of each of the products to the overall profit level (Contribution Margin, (n.d)). Hence in these examples given above we see that if any product has a positive but low contribution, then that specific product must be dropped from production the respective year due to the lack of resources so that it does not dilute the high contribution level of other products and ultimately the overall contribution level. Hence the resources for each product is very important when it comes to the decision of dropping a product based on its contribution level as a product will have low contribution if the resources for the same are low. The risk of using such an analysis is that we lose out on unanticipated increase in demand of the product that is dropped. The benefit of this analysis is that we know which products to drop in order to maintain a high profit level for all the products that are produced by the company.

Mixed racial and cultural groups are growing in the United States. Should each group expect to be treated as a separate entity, or should residents of the United States be considered Americans without the hyphen?

America is knows and the land of opportunities and this has prompted very many people to join the American society, there is a common saying that America is a nation of immigrants and perhaps this can not be very far from the truth. Form research, you realize that it is difficult to say who a Native American is because most of the Americans have their ancestral roots somewhere else. The fact that the Americans society is made up of diverse people means that there has to be a way of differentiating the various groups and that is why we have terms like African- American , which leads to the question, would there be just American or we should have American-something else?
Very year many people come to America as students or through the green card while others come as expatriates and w.

How Diversity Affects Knowledge and Political Life in America
This week’s readings have resulted in a definition of diversity that is just as diverse as the term itself. Prior to reading, I understood diversity to mean cultural differences among groups of people within a community. However, diversity is much larger in scope, and, in fact, can differ based on each person’s individual worldview (Castania 1996, 1). According to the combination of this week’s readings, a “working definition” of diversity would be those differences that set us apart—whether racial, gender, religion, age, socioeconomic status, upbringing (how, where, in what context), how we learn and our ability to do so, sexual preferences, physical differences, and more. There is an added nuance to this term, however, deriving from the significance we place on these differences (Castania 1996, 2): after all, diversity may not even be acknowledged in social settings in which members do not perceive that there are differences (although, admittedly, the diversity does still exist).
Diversity greatly effects our knowledge—both in fact and in perceived understanding. The emergence of dominant culture groups in America has led to a skewed history—one in which minorities (or “subordinate groups” (Healey 2010, 9)) have largely been ignored. This oversight has caused history to be taught in the viewpoint of high levels of social dominance orientation (Nauert 2012), which serves to perpetuate inequalities in society—in turn perpetuating discrimination and prejudice. Additionally, how individuals process information is greatly affected by their life experiences, which includes all of those elements in the definition of diversity. For this reason, teacher familiarity with student diversity is crucial in facilitating learning. Schools are failing at reaching minority students, and an achievement gap continues to exist in public schools, despite movements toward equality in the past 70+ years. Nearly a third of students in schools with high numbers of minorities, and/or high numbers of impoverished students will not graduate because they fail to make it past their first year of high school (Saravia-Shore 2008, 41). As our nation continues to diversify, these numbers may worsen if public schools do not intervene by placing a greater priority on closing the achievement gap. As Kathy Castania wrote in her report for the Cornell Migrant Program, considering and acknowledging the “historical power imbalance” that continues to pervade our nation will bring about positive change that will lead to greater equity in all aspects of society (1996, 2).
The diverse experiences, values, cultures, and physical traits of American citizens also affects their political beliefs, priorities, and participation. The divergent views on important policy considerations—such as affirmative action, transgender participation in the military, and immigration—are formed by life experiences, which ...

Introduction
Economic inequality refers to a condition whereby there is the disparity in the distribution of wealth and income between various groups of individuals in the society. This is usually related to the concept “the poor get poorer as the richer get richer.” This phrase more particularly refers to the gap in the distribution of assets or the income from the richest segment of the society and the poorest individuals in the nation. While income refers to the amount of money an individual or household earns per year, wealth refers to the value of that individual or household overall. The calculation of wealth is done by subtraction of debt from assets, and in various ways, it is a more accurate window into the racial and economic disparity in America as well as the entire world. While it is significant to understand the gaps in income as part of the cycle of drawbacks and benefits in the United States, wealth represents the command grounded on the financial resources that have been accumulated by the family over its lifetime together with wealth that has been inherited by individuals across generations (Loffredo, 2001, p. 147). When such resources are combined with the income, the opportunity can be created to secure the “good life” in whatever fashion is required—business, health, comfort, training, justice and many others
In spite of the fact that fundamental ideas have entered the consciousness of the public, the influences of the highly concentrated wealth are excitedly debated and not well conceptualized by the observers. Various studies attribute both the benefits and negative impacts of the pronounced degree of wealth inequality. Certain studies postulate that inequalities in income can be social beneficial despite high probabilities in its negative influences in the society.
The global trends have contributed to the rise in the concentration of wealth within small groups of individuals. Even though some techniques used in the calculation of the global economic inequalities indicates little variation in the distribution of wealth, various methods used in the calculation of wealth or income tend to produce different results. A good number of global wealth analysts have concluded that inequality is generally on the rise. For instance, in 2013, half of the global population owned almost half of all the global wealth.
Wealth and income are necessarily not correlated, and a great variation exists in wealth within categories of income. This paper will first discuss the factors leading to wealth inequalities before discussing the systematic factors that perpetuate and reflect the increasing gap between the poorer and wealthy individuals in the United States. The relationship between economic inequality and ethnicity/race ...

Introduction: In United states of America, wealth or income inequality is valuable because it sometimes gives people incentives to work hard and try to adopt other business ideas. However, in a reality perspective it harms the American society, socially and economically. This is due to greater inequality stifles upward movement between generations. Therefore, it is harder for talented and hardworking Americans to get what they deserve through toiling because the income is concentrated, under the custody of a certain group of people, compromises the ability of a democracy for equal distribution of resource and equal political voice to all citizens regardless of race, ethnicity, and working class. So, as we understand “wealth disparity”, in the United States exhibits wider wealth distributing inequality, majorly witnessed between rich and the poor. For that matter, there is need to look deep into the matters attributing to wealth inequality in States with a policy to review about wealth distribution. This will define the wealth distribution imbalance. Wealth disparity (inequality) is a threat to American development among the poor majorly attributed by federal minimum wage, culture, racial and gender discrimination. It can therefore be reduced through democratic, equal distribution of resources across all ethnic groups and race.

Government, Politics and Social Justice: Is America on the right road?
The issues of social justice, government and politics are related to the country’s identity. Interaction of the above three factors will enable one to understand their history and identity in a better way. One of the critical issue affected by the factors is that of immigrants where they are considered to have an effect on the nation’s identity. Government plays a role in the issue of immigrants in that it is responsible for passing and implementation of policies that affect the immigrants. Politics also play a critical role in the issue of immigrants in that politicians usually have an influence on the laws and regulations on immigrants. Social justice is evident in the way the immigrants are treated in the host country. There has been a concern in United States as to whether the immigrants from Third World countries and who are non-English speakers destroy national identity (Muller, 2006). The major focus of this essay will be the advantages and disadvantages of immigrants to the nation in order to reach a conclusion as to whether it really affects the nation’s identity.
There are many people who have raised concerns over the loss of American identity due to increase in Muslim and Latino populations. However others dismiss this notion claiming that immigrants are important to the country and that several measures can be put in place to ensure that national identity is still maintained. Immigration has been considered to be of great benefit to United States in that it has shaped many political, economic and social processes that are important to the nation (Joppke, 2014). The nation also benefits from immigrants in terms of the labor force, some of the best researchers and scientists are immigrants and therefore discouraging them or driving them back to their countries will result in loss to United States. United States is the leading country in the world in regards to asylum and refugee admissions which mostly comprise the immigrants.
The major concern that is raised by those against insurgence of immigrants is that it leads to degradation of the culture of the society. This is through various social aspects such as language and religion. For example the dominant language in United States is English but immigrants into the country may not be English speakers, they will continue using the language and therefore may not adopt the national language in the host country. Chapter 26 TRENDS AND CHALLENGES OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY
R. DONNA PETRIE
We are born in families, whether small or large, with one or more parenting figures. These families are embedded in a web of other families, all of which are part of a particular society or culture. In the United States families share a common culture because they all live in one country, but they also share a family culture that may or may not be like the culture of the nation. It is virtually impossible to overemphasize the influence an individual’s family culture has on the day-to-day activities of any given person’s life. In this country it is also nearly impossible to overestimate the points of difference within cultures and between cultures. Diversity itself has historically represented a core component of the democratic fabric of that which defines American life. This position and role is as viable today in 2003 as it was during the past two centuries.
The purpose of this chapter is to broadly introduce the challenges of multicultural human service work. These challenges are threefold. First, human service professionals need to have an understanding of specific value areas wherein misunderstanding between cultures is likely to occur; second, workers need to understand different cultural models of healing and caring; and finally, human service professionals, whether they think of themselves as bicultural or as “American,” need to understand how they are seen as “agents” of mainstream American culture.
FUTURE POPULATION TRENDS
A decade ago the New York Times reported that the United States Census Bureau has had to recalculate population growth (Pear, 1992). The population of the United States, it appears, will continue to grow through 2050 rather than decline after the year 2038. To summarize, for the years 1990 to 2025 there will be more babies born, particularly to new immigrants, and the proportion of men to women is likely to even out, as the life expectancy of men appears to be rising faster than that of women.
Despite this overall increase in the number of people in the United States, whites will account for a declining share in the population. The numbers of black Americans, Asian Americans, and Hispanic Americans will grow appreciably. Using the 1990 census, the Bureau predicts a 412.5 percent population growth for Asian and Pacific Islanders; a 237.5 percent growth in numbers for Hispanic Americans; a 109.1 percent increase in the number of Native American Indians, Eskimos, and Aleuts; and a 93.8 percent increase for black Americans. These figures contrast significantly with the 29.4 percent projected growth of white Americans from 1992 to 2050.
The Census Bureau makes the future trends somewhat more complex by noting that immigration by itself will account for the expected growth in the Asian American population and not the number of births. Birth rates are increasing among the black and Hispanic populations. The birth rate of whites, however, is not expecte ...

Poverty and its Impact on Education: Today and Tomorrow by Capra (2009) is an enlightening article that discusses the impact that poverty has on education. I consider this article to be valuable because education is a critical aspect of growth and development, with a significant influence in the society. The author provides the reader with a in-depth analysis of the issue by investigating the expected impact future impacts in relation to lack of education. As the author notes, “education is an international must, a veritable human right…” which shows that it is universally accepted that education is a right for everyone in the present times.
One of the points that I consider to be significant is that the author appreciates creativity. The author points out that in most schools, teachers often applaud obedience and repetition. Besides, teachers spend more time on the preparation of standardized test as opposed to developing their students’ creative skills (Capra, 2009). The author clear points out that most poverty-stricken areas lack highly qualified teacher who would encourage the students to strive for quality and seek to advance their education to a higher level. Besides, the author notes that most of the students fail to advance their education to a higher level because no one in their households had gone beyond high school level. Most importantly, the author discusses some of the ways that America should eradicate poverty and encourage students to seek higher education.
This article provides the reader with valuable and highly practical information that helps to reveal the main issues or factors that contribute to poverty and low levels of education in America. This article provides me with critical information that helps me to identify was of ensuring high quality education and reducing poverty. I intend to use this information to influence others into embracing the right ideals that promote high quality education and higher levels of graduation in institutions of higher learning (Capra, 2009).
Moving Beyond “Slaves, sinners, and saviors” is a comprehensive article by Baker & College (2013), which explores the issue of poverty from the perspective of sex in America. In particular, the authors investigate how poverty pushes people into the sex trafficking business because of their vulnerability as they seek to make a living. I consider this article to be comprehensive because the author have provided deep analysis of the issue of sex traffic, from the factors that contribute to that practice, to ways in which the relevant government agencies can combat the issue successfully. I think this article will be helpful in exposing the numerous issues that contribute to the high rates of sex crimes in America, including how the various agencies will fight the problem successfully.

Discrimination in Society
ABSTRACT
While racial discrimination has become a more pertinent issue in society, racial discrimination is far most the worst. While there have been a lot of issues affecting the American Society, racial discrimination has caused more harm and caused chaos in the recent years in the wake of the recent police shooting of the black people in the community. According to Christine Hauser of New York Times (Hauser, 2016), “It spurred no organized street protests; no viral hashtags; no movement like Black Lives Matter, which was sparked by anger and despair over a wave of killings of African-Americans by law enforcement officials”. In the past discrimination was more widespread in most if not all states of America but in the recent years, though existent, it has come with less outcry and in a more hidden way. Racial discrimination has been quite evident in sectors like housing and employment among others. Others include the healthcare, housing, credit markets and consumer interactions. Discrimination is commonly defined as the unfair treatment to or against a person, based on their social class, wealth, popularity, racial origins, and ethnicity among many other religion (Blank, 2004).
INTRODUCTION
Racial discrimination according to the review done by Mary Blank and her associates can be measured through many ways. One of them may be laboratory tests and the other may be field-based experiments. Other methods may be a statistical inference, surveys, and re ...

BUSINESS CASE FOR DIVERSITY
Chapter Objectives
After reading this chapter, you should be able to:
x explain why managing diversity in the workplace is an important
component of business operations
x show how U.S. demographics shifts affect workplace diversity.
x understand the business case for diversity in the workplace.
x defend the business case for valuing diversity.
Background
[Type the company name] | Background: Business Case for Diversity B3
Diversity is about recognizing, respecting and valuing differences based on
primary differences such as ethnicity, sex, gender, color, age, race, religion,
disability, national origin and sexual orientation. It also includes an infinite
range of individual unique characteristics and experiences, such as
communication style, career path, life experience, educational background,
geographic location, income level, marital status, military experience, parental
status and other variables that influence personal perspectives.
These life experiences and personal perspectives make us react and
think differently, approach challenges and solve problems differently, make
suggestions and decisions differently, and see different opportunities. An
organization can minimize the costs that are associated with a lack of managing
diversity comprehension by understanding what diversity is, why it matters,
and how to effectively manage a business in terms of diversity.1 The first
approach addressed in the text to effectively manage those primary differences
listed above is valuing diversity (accepting, understanding and respecting
diversity).
Valuing diversity is necessary because of the demographic shifts that
affect the workplace, because it makes good business sense to do so and also
because of the laws created to promote equal opportunity despite race, religion,
age, sex and physical or mental ability.2 As we continue considering why we
should value diversity in the workplace, let’s look further at the demographic

Final Project Milestone Two: Article Critique

Objective Analysis
The article that is well about racism has been well represented in the article’s content. The title that is about the gender and socio-economic differences in the experiences of African Americans is well elaborated in the article. This is because, within the article, the experiment that was done was major to try and find out about how men and women are mistreated on the different socioeconomic environment (Adler, 2000).
Within the introduction, the purpose that is basing on the health effects of racism is well elaborated. Considering the be an exploration on the method to which the investigation will be done through different socioeconomic position such as education, financial and employment status, the prediction of the title is captured well in the introduction of the article.
The discussion is relevant. It is relevant in essence that, it is that we can understand to which discriminations done in the offices that most of the officers operate. The discussion is further relevant given the fact statistical methods have been sued to do the experiment (Barg, 2005).Using the exact figure makes not only a thorough but an actual result to be relied upon.
Using a sample size of 144 people to me is underemphasizing of the discrimination in the states. Given the number of people living in the US are many, a better number of participants would have been used. The issue of the socio-emotional prospect is less emphasized. It should have been made so clear that, in the United States and the United Kingdom, it is in this set ups that moist of the discrimination occur. Limiting the age made the age made the experiment a little bit less factual as the result should have focused more on a range of age like, for instance, the socioeconomic discrimination on young people is not much pronounced as that for the aged people who are workplaces. New York City only should not have been the only place to make the data valid.
The authors’ statements are very clear. It is clear in the sense that, most of the assumptions made are what happens exactly in the field. It is ambiguous for the data to claim that the modest size could have been used which could not limit the sample size. It is of the essence to not that, in an analysis, depending on the population, is a small size can be very useful in making an assumption.
The authors want to validate different assumption his research. First of all, there is an assumption that Africans are a threat to security and as a form of discrimination; they must be frisked very well as in the care of Joan. The author assumes that in most of the cases of racism, men are the target of racism, and they are the ones who are affected more. The third assumption by the author is that the socioeconomic status of the society is not consistent and is sub.

Assignment 3: Neuroanatomy Project
Imagine that you are working in a neurology clinic. One of the neurologists tells you that as her practice is expanding, she is having difficulty meeting the education needs of her patients. Part of this problem is explaining the basic neuroanatomical structures to the patients in layperson’s language so that they understand their diagnoses and their underlying neurological impairment. The neurologist asks you to create a written guide for the patients, including both the CNS and PNS. She describes what the basic neuroanatomical structures are, where they are located, how they interact, and what function they serve.
She asks you to name the structures by using the correct technical language but to use layperson’s language as much as possible elsewhere.
Your "Neuroanatomy Guide" should cover the following:
Basic neuroanatomical structures (including the CNS and PNS, as well as the structural packaging that protects the brain from the environment)
Locations of these structures
Functions they serve (what functions damage to this area may affect)
How they interact
Be sure to explain the information in layperson’s language, and use graphics and pictures where helpful. Use APA format when citing material from scholarly sources such as your textbook and online notes. Include a cover page and a reference page listing the resources you used to create your guide.

Assignment 3 Mobile Computing and Social Networking Due Week 7 a.docxdanielfoster65629
Assignment 3: Mobile Computing and Social Networking
Due Week 7 and worth 75 points
Mobile computing has dramatically changed how information is accessed and shared. Wireless networking has been an enabler of mobile computing. One profession that mobile computing has had a big impact on is health care management. Patients are now able to monitor their vital signs such as blood pressure, glucose levels, etc. without having to periodically visit a doctor’s office or hospital. There are devices such as the Withings Blood Pressure Monitor that works with an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to record, track, and graph a patient’s blood pressure. There are other devices that can measure blood glucose levels, oxygen levels, heart rate, etc. and use an iPhone to send the results to a clinical server. Doctors and caregivers are then able to access the data on the clinical server. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are used as powerful platforms to deliver and receive health care information. Patients and caregivers are increasingly going online to connect and share experiences with others with similar medical issues or concerns Patients are able to take advantage of social networks to do more than just share pictures and tweets. Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:
Compare and contrast monitoring of patient vital signs using mobile computing technology to in-patient visits to the doctor’s office or hospital.
Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using mobile computing technology to monitor patients.
Assess the security concerns with regard to the transmission of personal medical information over wireless networks.
Assess the use of social networking for group support for patients with similar medical concerns.
Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
Describe the use of network management, Web, wireless, and mobility technologies.
Outline the strategic implications of information assurance and security in an information technology environment.
Use technology and information resources to research issues in information systems and technology.
Write clearly and concisely about topics related to information systems for decision making using proper writing mechanics and technical style.

Chapter 26 TRENDS AND CHALLENGES OF CULTURAL DIVERSITYR. DONNA.docxcravennichole326

An
organization can minimize the costs that are associated with a lack of managing
diversity comprehension by understanding what diversity is, why it matters,
and how to effectively manage a business in terms of diversity.1 The first
approach addressed in the text to effectively manage those primary differences
listed above is valuing diversity (accepting, understanding and respecting
diversity).
Valuing diversity is necessary because of the demographic shifts that
affect the workplace, because it makes good business sense to do so and also
because of the laws created to promote equal opportunity despite race, religion,
age, sex and physical or mental ability.2 As we continue considering why we
should value diversity in the workplace, let’s look further at the demographic
trends and changes affecting the U.S. population and thus the U.S. workplace.
In 2011, Forbes conducted research where they interviewed 321
executives with direct responsibility or oversight for their companies’ diversity
and inclusion programs. All respondents worked for large global enterprises
with annual revenues of more than US$500 million. More than 40% worked for

Assignment 3 Neuroanatomy ProjectImagine that you are working in .docxdanielfoster65629

Assignment 3: Management Accounting Case: West Island Products
Due Week 8, Day 7 (100 points)
6 pages
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
•
Apply key techniques and concepts in measuring the cost of producing goods and
services.
•
Apply management accounting concepts to identify and process relevant financial
information for decision-making purposes.
•
Use technology and information resources to research issues in financial management.
•
Write clearly and concisely about financial management using proper writing mechanics.
Assignment:
West Island Products (WIP) is a divisionalized furniture manufacturer. The divisions are
autonomous segments with each division responsible for its own sales, cost of operations, and
equipment acquisition. Divisional performance is evaluated annually based on ROI. Each division
serves a different market in the furniture industry. Because the markets and products of the
divisions are so different, there have never been any transfers between divisions.
The Commercial Division of WIP, manufacturers furniture for the restaurant industry. The
Commercial Division plans to introduce a new line of counter chair units featuring a cushioned
seat. Roberta Katz, the Commercial Division manager, has discussed the manufacturing of the
cushioned seats with Nathan Danielson of the Office Division. They both believe a cushioned
seat currently made by the Office Division for use on its deluxe office stool could be modified for
use on the new counter chair. Consequently, Katz asked Danielson for a price for 100-unit lots of
the cushioned seats. The following conversation took place about the price to be charged for the
cushioned seats.
Danielson:
“Roberta, we can make the necessary modifications to the cushioned seat easily.
The raw materials used in the new counter chair seat are slightly different and
should cost about 10 percent more than those used in our deluxe office stool.
However, the labor time should be the same because the seat fabrication
process is the same. I would price the cushioned seat at our regular rate: full cost
plus a 30 percent mark-up. According to my calculations, that would be $2,053
per lot of 100 seats.”
Katz:
“That’s higher than I expected, Nathan. I was thinking that a good price would be
your variable manufacturing cost. After all, your fixed costs will be incurred
regardless of this job. In addition, I have received a quote from one of the
Commercial Division’s regular suppliers to provide us with the counter seats at
$1,900 per lot of 100 seats.”
Danielson:
“Roberta, I am at full capacity. By making the cushioned seats for you, I have to
cut my production of deluxe office stools. The labor time freed by not having to
fabricate the frame and assemble the deluxe stool can be shifted to the
production of the economy stool. I’d like to sell the cushioned seats to you at my
variable cost, but I have excess.

Assignment 3 Juvenile ProbationIn many ways, juvenile probation i.docxdanielfoster65629
Assignment 3: Juvenile Probation
In many ways, juvenile probation is similar to adult probation. Both types of probation involve sanctions imposed by the court, necessitating close supervision of the offender, coupled with the looming threat of a more severe punishment, typically incarceration, if the offender fails to comply with the conditions stipulated in his or her probation.
Given the inherent complexity of working with juveniles, juvenile probation includes components, rules, and processes not found in adult probation. For example, probation officers must take into account factors such as school and parental wishes while determining how a particular case should be handled. These factors are not taken into consideration in adult probation. Also, juvenile probation officers must contend with and account for the inclusion of status offenses, which can be more difficult to track and monitor.
Tasks:
Prepare a 3- to 5-page report on your local juvenile probation department. In your report:
Describe the types of juvenile cases that your local juvenile probation department has taken care of in the past.
Locate and comment on the following:
The department’s mission and vision statement
Whether the juvenile department is located with the adult probation department and community corrections
The number of services aimed toward juveniles
The statistics that demonstrate the department’s effectiveness
State the overall assessment of your local juvenile probation department. Explain based on your research whether you think the department is run well. Does the department meet the needs of local youth? Support your answer with evidence.

Assignment 3 Gender IdentityWe are socialized at every stage in l.docxdanielfoster65629
Assignment 3: Gender Identity
We are socialized at every stage in life to conform to our gender identity. Societal reinforcement of tendencies of gender identity is relentless. For example, in hospitals, little girls are wrapped in pink and little boys in blue. This difference in colors influences how we learn and how we internalize our role in our society.
Girls tend to grow up to play feminine roles and boys tend to grow up to play masculine roles. This differentiation of gender identity has implications in social stratification. The videos given below will provide you with a better understanding of the differentiation of sexual identity from an earlier generation.
Search for and watch an episode of at least one of the following shows. You may find these videos using a variety of search methods including visiting your local library, using Netflix or your local video store, or searching on YouTube. If you have difficulty locating an episode of one of the following shows, contact your instructor for assistance in finding an alternative.
I Love Lucy
All in the Family
The Mickey Mouse Club
The Honeymooners
Leave it to Beaver
Father Knows Best
Gilligan’s Island
The Brady Bunch
I Dream of Jeannie
As you watch the video, ask yourself the following questions:
To what extent have things changed and to what extent have they remained the same in regards to gender roles, expectations, division, and identity from the time this show was originally popular and today?
How conscious and sensitive are the characters regarding gender prejudice, power inequality, and subordination?
Did they take inequality of the sexes for granted?
Based on your readings and understanding that you have gathered after watching the above-noted video, write a short biographical description of your life if you were to wake up tomorrow morning in the time period of the video you watched and find you have a different gender identity. Write a description of how you lived your life a day after your hypothetical change in gender as you answer the following questions
Discuss how you would react on finding out that your sex is opposite. Would you feel a sense of relief, indifference, or elation? Why?
Discuss three ways your attitude towards the opposite sex was enlightened or would change as a result of what you learned from this project. If you would not change your attitude, why?

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Your friend remarked, A company will never drop a product from it.docx
1. Your friend remarked, “A company will never drop a product
from its product line that has a positive contribution margin. It
will want to garner every bit of profit that it can.” Is this true in
all cases? What are the risks and benefits of evaluating product
continuation or implementation using the contribution margin?
1)
Regarding the solution below. The contribution margin mainly
looks at the variable costs. What potential problems could
result from the product's associated fixed costs?
In this case it is important to evaluate what the friend means by
positive contribution as it can be lower and higher. It is
important for the firm to have an overall high product
contribution in order to maintain a high profit level. The
contribution levels for all products must be analysed in order to
calculate the contribution of each of the products to the overall
profit level (Contribution Margin, (n.d)). Hence in these
examples given above we see that if any product has a positive
but low contribution, then that specific product must be dropped
from production the respective year due to the lack of resources
so that it does not dilute the high contribution level of other
products and ultimately the overall contribution level. Hence
the resources for each product is very important when it comes
to the decision of dropping a product based on its contribution
level as a product will have low contribution if the resources for
the same are low. The risk of using such an analysis is that we
lose out on unanticipated increase in demand of the product that
is dropped. The benefit of this analysis is that we know which
products to drop in order to maintain a high profit level for all
the products that are produced by the company.

Research Topic
Mixed racial and cultural groups are growing in the United
States. Should each group expect to be treated as a separate
entity, or should residents of the United States be considered
Americans without the hyphen?
Initial Research
America is knows and the land of opportunities and this has
prompted very many people to join the American society, there
is a common saying that America is a nation of immigrants and
perhaps this can not be very far from the truth. Form research,
you realize that it is difficult to say who a Native American is
because most of the Americans have their ancestral roots
somewhere else. The fact that the Americans society is made up
of diverse people means that there has to be a way of
differentiating the various groups and that is why we have
terms like African- American , which leads to the question,
would there be just American or we should have American-
something else?
Very year many people come to America as students or through
the green card while others come as expatriates and with time,
they become permanent citizens, when this happens, they
become important contributors of the nations GDP, to many this
makes them to be Americans. It is for his reason that a study is
required to address this issue. This study will seek to examine
these from various perspectives.
Proposed Thesis
All Americans are equal because they contribute to the nation’s
GDP, and they should just be called Americans.

intermarriages among races. The article develops a model that
identifies the consequences of crossing racial boundaries in

Introduction
According to the research, annually, many individuals relocate
to America as students or through access to green cards. Other
individuals expatriate and after a period, they become full
citizens of America. When this act occurs, all the individuals
contribute to the nation GDP, and according to the conclusion
of many, they are American citizens (Williamson, 1980). This
study aims at addressing the issues that arise, and it also
examines the aspects of race and culture on diverse
perspectives.
Mixed racial and cultural groups in the United States have been
described as one of the most important aspect discussed. It is
evident that mixed racial relationships have the tendency of
increasing globally, but it is more in the United States (Fu and
Wolfinger, 2011). There are diverse individuals who elaborate
on the case that the groups are supposed to be treated as distinct
entity or if they are considered as ethnic Americans. However,
although mixed racial and cultural groups continue to increase
in the United States, it seems that majority of the individuals
have the concept that separate ethnicity will remain prevalent in
the United States.
7. However, when they encountered with by factors affecting other
countries it is evident that they consider themselves as African-
American or Mexican American and Asian American. Majority
of the Americans have multiple identities whereby this factor
identifies their ancestral origins, communal association and
tribal aspects. This is based on the fact that there are diverse
ideological aspects of both culture and race. However,
individuals do not change their ethnicity since it is considered
fashionable, but they may also emphasize diverse aspects based
on their circumstances.
The United States has been a strategic location which is better
through the classification of an ethnic background for various
reasons (Doane, 1997). This also focuses on an accurate report
of their parent’s origin and ethnic backgrounds. In diverse
cases, the knowledge of their ancestral origin has improved
along diverse families and communities although in some cases,
the narratives tend to be suppressed and forgotten in history,
resulting to racial variance among the individuals.
The racial and ethnic makeup of the American individuals
increases over period of time. It has been noted that new
immigrants from both Asia and Latin America has been as a
large measure that focuses on cultural and the diversity of the
American population over the past couple of years (Williamson,
1980). The difference of racial and ethnic groups has developed
because of the increased intermarriages and the developing
numbers of individuals with a mixed ancestry. The description
of the racial and ethnic composition of American individuals
has varied accounts and interpretation.
It is worth noting that individuals have diverse identities that
focus on their complex ancestral origins and tribal associations.
It is evident that individuals do not change their ethnicities due
to personal preferences but because of diverse aspects based on
their varied circumstances. An example is an individual who has
8. Mexican relatives; they are identified as Hispanic, and also
American in other countries (WANG, 2010). There are
possibilities that exist in the saved data because of the
opportunities based on varied responses of diverse census
question of race and ethnicity.
The ethnic and racial landscape developed in the 19th century
(Osei-Kofi, 2013). However, through continental expansions has
been a home for Native Americans and individuals with mixed
origins. There are successive waves of European and Asian
origin, and this has been one of the contributing factors of the
high populations. The track of mixed and unmixed individuals
in America has been determined through historical and
contemporary data. However, one of the shortcomings of the
data is the fact that there is a difference in settlement rates and
intermarriages. It has been noted that slight differences and
assumptions based on relative magnitude of the research
program has been termed to create a difference in ancestral
origins based on the contemporary American population.
There are great obstacles in the description of ethnic
development of American individuals relies on the assumption
of most individuals having the ability to give a detailed report
based on the origins of their families and ancestors (Doane,
1997). The only groups that are involved in the support of
continued collection of racial and ethnic data entails of racial
bureaucrats and other groups that are interested in racial and
ethnic perspectives. The organizations state that the
identification of individuals in a certain race is vital in
redressing of past injustices. The federal government is
supposed to collect and utilize data with an aim of developing
racial and ethnic programs, which have affirmative quotas set
aside for the groups. These groups usually entail of recent
immigrants, and non citizens. It would be a fair nation if
individuals were not judged based on their racial and ethnic
backgrounds.
9. In conclusion, it has been noted that the American individuals
require legislation that hinders that federal government from the
collection of racial and ethnic information concerning the
classification of American citizens by their race and ethnicity
(Williamson, 1980). This also focuses on the data collected
through census information. However, according to the
research, exceptions occur based on law enforcements and
medical research purposes.

in the United States. Growth and Change, 41, 3, 430-458.
The data for this analysis has been taken from Proctor &
Gamble’s 2012 annual reports, which show that the company
made an operating profit of $13292 million. The contribution
margin for the company has been found to be 49 percent and
this information will help the company in achieving next year’s
target sales of $97953 million with a growth rate of 17 percent
10. (Yahoo Finance, 2013). By using the same information, the
breakeven point can be found as specified in the case study. If
the company has enough resources to produce enough products
so as not to lower the overall contribution margin then all the
products must be produced. If it is found that the company has
lower resources for even one product, then that product must be
dropped so as not to lower the contribution level for all the
products. In the analysis of the tables given in the case study we
see that if any product has low contribution level then it must
be dropped to keep the high contribution level of all the
products of the company intact. The term of contribution margin
is very important to decipher the breakeven point and take
important decisions of the firm whether to produce certain
goods or to drop it (Contribution Margin, (n.d)).
