Yen Duc Village
I. Location
▫ Located in Dong Trieu district, Quang
Ninh province, in the Northeast of
Vietnam
▫ 60km from Halong Bay, 100 km from
Hanoi. The village locates on the highway
between Hanoi and Halong Bay, just a
short drive from both main tourist
destinations in the North of Vietnam.

II. Community-based tourism
▫ Yen Duc Village is one of a community-based tourism by
Indochina Junk.
▫ Since 2011, the first community-based tourism project has
been operated launching: Yen Duc Village day trip and folk
song performance. In the following years, more product and
service has been introduced: water puppet show and overnight
tours.
▫ The purpose of this community has been identified:
▫ Bring the unique cultural experience of local community to
international visitors
▫ Preserve and maintain the local culture heritage and life of
habitats.
▫ Support local community to develop sustainable agriculture
economy and share benefit from tourism project.
III. Attractions in Yen Duc Village

▫ Local house and family village life: Each local and traditional
house in Yen Duc village will provide you a nice experience to
observe local life and family tradition, with a nice talking to warm
hosts.
▫ Historical monument: Yen Duc village also have some other
historical relics related to Tran dynasty and the historical Canh
Huong pagoda in the center of the village.
▫ Canh Huong Pagoda: Visiting the pagoda brings you the
tranquility of mind and a better understanding of Vietnamese
traditional culture.
▫ Quan Ho singing and cultural life: Quan Ho singing is a
Vietnamese folk music style characterized both by its antiphonal
nature, with alternating groups of female and male singers
issuing musical challenges and responses, and by the fact that
most of the songs in the repertoire deal with topics of love and
sentimentality.

• Homemade Vietnamese cooking: the homemade Vietnamese food
in Yen Duc village will amaze you by its fresh and delicious tastes
• Catching fish: Most of the local houses in the village have organic
vegetable gardens, and fish ponds to provide healthy food.
• Gardening: This is an important part of the house in the
countryside, provide vegetables and improve the living
environment; creating open space for the house.
• Water puppetry: Water puppetry is such a perfect representative
of Vietnam’s rural life because it brings many beloved folk stories
to life in an attractive and fun manner
• Visit a local ancient house: The house is the living space of
Vietnamese family, gathering two, three and even four
generations in the same house. By visiting a local house in the
village, you have the easy access to our tradition and lifestyle.
• Visit local market: the Local market is normally located in the
central of the village with easy access, people come to
exchange products, and here you will find all the need for
living.
• Visit local pagoda: Pagoda is the holy place in the ritual life of
Vietnamese, a source of culture and tradition of locals
following Buddhism. Cycling to visit Canh Huong pagoda, you
will feel the quietness of peace in your soul.

▫Viet House: the most comfortable and private
stay. Viet House was built by Indochina Junk in
2012. It’s a traditional house which has a big yard,
kitchen, vegetable garden, well, pond, wall
surrounding, and gate. The property has 2
traditional houses with garden view for staying
overnight; each house has 3 compartments with
two small housings on the left and right sides. All
rooms are well equipped with modern and
traditional facilities.

Homestay: the best way to experience Vietnamese
culture by living with local villagers. Each homestay
in Yen Duc village has 2 – 3 private & clean garden
view rooms with comfortable bedding. You will find
all the basic facilities for your stay in this village
