Have you ever been to Yellowstone? Well it is home to 60 percent of the
worlds active geysers! It is also the oldest park in the system. Yellowstone is
one of the wonders of the world. Yellowstone is also in 3 different states
Montanan, Idaho, and Wyoming. It is a huge park with many fun things to do at
it.
Yellowstone has a long history. Yellowstone was established by present
Ulysses S. Grant. He signed a bill as Yellowstone as the first national park in
1872. Yellowstone has been a park for 138 years! Yellowstone is still a park
today because all the people who visit it for all its active geysers and hot
springs they also enjoy all the animals and open land. There are warm waters
are because the geothermal activity. There were many native Americans that
lived there in the summer but only one group lived there all year around. The
first non-native person to enter Yellowstone was a fur trapper named John
Colter.
Yellowstone also has many natural features. Over 2.2 acres in
Yellowstone are persevered for animals. The gray wolves are also on of the
animals that recently got introduced to the basin for recovery. The coyotes and
wolves often compete for food. Yellowstone has molted rock or magma that
comes from the geothermal land heats waters and the land so hot it can burn
because the outrageous temperatures. Many of the hot springs are not actually
boiling, it is the high pressures like carbon and things like that, make it bubble
and steam. There are many mountains there too like electric peak, it is 10,992
feet high! Wow that is tall! There is also old faithful one of the most famous
geysers in the world.
Here in Yellowstone there are many different cultures and history the first
people who lived in Yellowstone were the native Americans. The natives
always had pow-wows (party) and dances, play games, and hunt for fish in the
hot springs. Some of the native Americans only lived there in the summer
because of the cold weather in the winter. Yellowstone is called preservation of
the land of wonders in natural conditional because the size and how it was
preserved for animals and beauty. On August 20th, 1988 more acres were
burned down in Yellowstone than any other year. Yellowstone can get forest
fires any time because of fires that are not put out and left unattended or it can
happen naturally from no rain and hot weather.
In Yellowstone there are many challenges. One is all the non-native
species that are over populating the waters and killing all the native fish like the
11 native species. Another challenge that Yellowstone faces is the forest fires.
In the summer some places in Yellowstone get very hot. Also when the land is
quite dry it can start a fire. Once a fire is going it is hard to control because it is
at the sake of the wind it can hop tree to tree to get what it wants. This is a
problem in Yellowstone because it can hurt people and animals. Lastly the
harsh cold winters and dry summers.
As you can see Yellowstone has faced many problems and challenges in
the past. Yellowstone is also a great place to visit with your family. I am sure
no one can have a bad time there and it is something to do in the summer.
Yellowstone is wonderful place to go before you die because it has so many
hot springs and geysers.
