Viktor Yazykov was a legendary Russian yachtsman, designer, and yacht builder. He was honored as a master of sports and an honorary citizen of Sochi and Newport. Yazykov made a round-the-world voyage on his yacht "Daughter of the Wind" in support of Sochi's bid for the 2014 Winter Olympics. During his career, he participated in numerous sailing races and competitions around the world, including the 1989/90 Whitbread Round the World Race and the 1998/99 Around Alone race. Yazykov also founded the OceanSchool to promote safety in navigation.
