ENSURE SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION
AND PRODUCTION PATTERNS
By Xiao
Why does it resonate for you?
According to latest projections, the global population could grow to
around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050.The equivalent of
almost three planets could be required to provide the natural
resources needed to sustain current lifestyles.(UN)
My hometown, Beijing, is a city with severe air pollution. My city is
shrouded in smog, which makes me very miserable. I believe people
have a responsibility to leave enough resources and a beautiful
environment for future generations.Today's consumption and
production methods have caused great harm to the earth, and
people need to change the current consumption and production
methods.
How can your interest be applied locally?
1. Advocacy of the dangers of
current consumption and
production patterns
2. Advocate a reasonable way of
consumption
3. Advocate for waste reduction
4. Use environmentally friendly
products
5. As consumers refuse to buy
products that are harmful to the
environment, it will make
companies change the way they
are produced.
Where can you personally make
the greatest contribution?
1.Reduce food, water and electricity waste.
2.Make reasonable purchases, such as planning before
buying groceries.
3.Buy eco-friendly products.
4.Refuse to buy or use products that are harmful to the
environment when possible
5.Donate money to Environmental Organizations
Is there a feature of social media that
can be uniquely applied to this goal?
• People can use social media to publicize the dangers
of today's consumption and production methods. It
will make more and more people aware of these
hazards and prompt people to make changes. People
can use social media to spread the word about how to
go green. People can initiate conservation and
sensible consumption challenges (like the ice bucket
challenge) on social media, such as posting short
videos on how to consume sensibly, videos on saving
water and electricity. This will push people to be
greener and have fun at the same time.
