Writing a story for yourself:
Today you will write a story of your own with
or without the help of Rory’s story cubes.
You will need a blank Freytag’s pyramid to
help you.
You will need to remember figurative
language.
You will need to establish a firm setting
You will need to decide on a theme.
SELECT A SETTING
1. Choose a picture from the following slides. This will
become your setting.
1. Choose a mood for the setting (ex- depressing,
lonely, hopeful, terrifying, thrilling, romantic,
magical, peaceful, etc…)
1. Write a descriptive paragraph (that could be used
as the opening paragraph for a new short story)
that effectively describes the setting and reveals
the mood.
