Carlos Monroy is the General Manager at EM
HOTELS, and he brings with him a wealth of
experience in the hospitality industry. His skills
encompass various aspects of the field, including
Food & Beverage, Hospitality Management, Hotel
Booking, Hotel Management, and Rooms
Division. Carlos has received specialized training
in Revenue Management for Hotels, holding a
Diplomado from Universidad Externado de
Colombia.
Before launching EM Hotels a couple of years ago,
Carlos was a part of the "Dorado Plaza" hotel
chain. During his tenure there, he leveraged his
experience in marketing and brand positioning to
enhance the national and international visibility of
the hotel chain. Under his leadership, the chain
successfully conceptualized, developed, and
operated seven hotel properties. However, the hotel
chain underwent a division, with one part being
retained by his brother, maintaining the name
Dorado Plaza. Carlos established his firm, EM
Hotels, in honor of his parents, Eduardo and his
mother. From this point, EM Hotels began
operating hotels in Colombia, including the
Cartagena Plaza in Cartagena and the Andes Plaza
in Bogotá. Additionally, they started marketing

hotels in Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.

Dupe always had a strong desire to make a positive impact

and addressing poverty. From a young age, she was drawn to
watching CNN and keeping up with global events. This led
her to study economics at the University of Leicester and
then specialize in development Economics, focusing her
thesis on the impact of aid and trade on growth in developing
economies.
After obtaining her degrees, Dupe worked with Bloomberg
and Northern Trust in the United Kingdom before returning
to Nigeria. In Nigeria, she worked with SecTrust (now
Afrinvest) and Africa's leading Private Equity Firm SME
Manager/African Capital Alliance. She then joined the
Investor Relations department of the UBA group in 2008
before eventually becoming the Director of Resources at
Transcorp in January 2010.

profit organization that was founded

South Florida. With a diverse
population of approximately 70%
Hispanics, Miami-Dade County
serves as a gateway to the Americas
and offers immense potential for

experiences. The SFLHCC provides

local programs aimed at improving
the economic condition of the
Hispanic population. The organization
has over 1,650 members and
advocates for thousands of Hispanic

one of the leading Hispanic business
organizations in Florida. The

Liliam M. López, “Lily”
President/CEO and founder of the
South Florida Hispanic Chamber of

dedicated her career to empowering
and advocating for Hispanic
communities. She has served in

Florida Hispanic Chamber of

Springs High School who are pursuing careers in the fields
of Business and Hospitality. The Foundation's Education
Enrichment Fellowship Program, which is a component of
its efforts, has taken students to significant destinations such
as Microsoft headquarters, Facebook, Comcast, Southwest
Airlines, the nation's Capital, and other significant venues,
in order to empower these young people. These initiatives
contributed to the SFLHCC Foundation's recognition as a
Champion of the Miami-Dade County Public School's
Academy of Hospitality and Tourism.
On Path of Successful Leader
Liliam is responsible for managing the day-to-day
operations of her organization. Her duties include
coordinating chamber luncheons, meetings, awards
ceremonies, television appearances, and overseeing the
organization's social media platforms. She also hosts a
digital show called "Business Minute with Lily Lopez."
Liliam finds the greatest joy in seeing the success of her
organization. One of the most satisfying moments is
observing the high attendance ranging from 200 to 400+ at
the chamber luncheons held every month. Additionally, she
feels a sense of accomplishment seeing her LinkedIn
following reach over 16,000 followers. Liliam's happiness
stems from the growth and success of the organization she
founded with only four members.
Liliam shares the significance of several critical attributes
for a successful leader. Firstly, humility is a vital
characteristic that a leader should possess.

Maggie Hardy, the owner and CEO of 84 Lumber, leads one
of the United States' largest privately-owned building
materials suppliers. The company, originally founded by her
father, Joe Hardy, in 1956 in Eighty-Four, Pennsylvania,
came under her leadership in 1992 when she was just 26
years old. Incredibly, the company achieved over $1 billion
in sales the very next year.
Today, 84 Lumber operates an extensive network of nearly
310 facilities across 35 states, generating an impressive $8
billion in revenue. Beyond her role at 84 Lumber, Maggie
also owns the Nemacolin resort in rural Pennsylvania, which
boasts design elements inspired by the elegance of the Ritz in
Paris, along with vintage airplanes and even a piece of the
Berlin Wall.
In her capacity as the owner and CEO of Nemacolin, Maggie
bears the joyful yet significant responsibility of overseeing
the present and future of the resort, working closely with the
dedicated team of associates. A substantial portion of her role
involves ensuring the seamless operation and sustainable
growth of Nemacolin, aligning with the vision for its
prosperous future. Her evaluation of the resort's progress and
her own effectiveness as a leader involves a comprehensive
analysis of both the property's growth and the team
supporting it.
Among the many aspects of her daily routine, Maggie finds
immense happiness in connecting with and checking in on
her associates. Recognizing the integral role they play in
Nemacolin's advancement, their life updates serve as ongoing
motivation in her daily work, inspiring the resort's continual
growth. Maggie firmly believes that the trajectory of the
organization would not be possible without the dedication

the UAE in 2009 at the Dubai
Mall. Originated in Malaysia the
brand has gained immense

PappaRoti has carved a niche for

cafes a tough competition. The
brand has a loyal fan base that visit
malls specially to sample the bun.
The brand also contributes to
strengthening the economy. The

to detail, maintaining a high level
of hospitality, implementing
sustainable practices, making a
positive impact and being

From Corporate Career to
Entrepreneurship
After completing various
entrepreneurship programs such as
"Performance Management" and
"Team Leading," Rasha earned her
business management degree from
Dubai Women's College. She kick-
started her career in prominent
companies like Emaar Properties
and the Dubai Development and
Investment Authority. Moreover,
she gained valuable experience in
both banking and real estate
industries before embarking on her
own entrepreneurial journey.
Rasha was in search of a unique
idea to introduce in the UAE.
During her holiday trip to Malaysia
in 2008, she stumbled upon
PappaRoti, a small kiosk by the
metro station that caught her
attention with its irresistible aroma.
This encounter inspired her to start
her own venture.
Building a Beloved Brand in the
UAE
Rasha had always known that she
had a natural aptitude for business
and was eager to strike out on her
own entrepreneurial path.
However, finding the right product
or concept to launch proved to be a
challenge for her. Undeterred, she
remained on the lookout for any
intriguing ideas or opportunities,
with a particular focus on the food
and beverage industry. After all,
she firmly believed that few things
have the power to bring people as
much happiness as good food.
It was during a family vacation
back in 2008 that Rasha's instincts
led her to stumble upon a small
kiosk located near a train station.
Intrigued by the tantalizing aroma
wafting from the kiosk, she
decided to give the product a try.
As soon as she tasted it, she knew
that she had discovered something
truly special, something that the
UAE had been missing. Driven by
her instincts and her belief in the
product, Rasha wasted no time in
reaching out to the owner and
negotiating to bring the brand to
the Middle East.
Despite the challenges and
uncertainties involved in launching
a new venture, Rasha remained
steadfast in her conviction that the
PappaRoti brand would be a
success in the UAE.

Carlos has received specialized training in Revenue Management for Hotels, holding a Diplomado from Universidad Externado de Colombia.
