Details
1. Brief Country History: You will memorize most of this information, but may use one index card
as a guide. Here is an example of brief history for the United States of America. Please notice the
history is reasonably up-to-date. You will need to be concise and condense major historical points.

Brief History of The United States of America
Britain's American colonies broke with the mother country in 1776 and were recognized as the new
nation of the United States of America following the Treaty of Paris in 1783. During the 19th and
20th centuries, 37 new states were added to the original 13 as the nation expanded across the
North American continent and acquired a number of overseas possessions. The two most
traumatic experiences in the nation's history were the Civil War (1861-65) and the Great
Depression of the 1930s. Buoyed by victories in World Wars I and II and the end of the Cold War
in 1991, the US remains the world's most powerful nation-state. The economy is marked by steady
growth, low unemployment and inflation, and rapid advances in technology.

2. Book Summary: You will memorize this information. Then orally present the summary to the
class (example - Three Little Pigs)
3. Detailed Political Map of Country: On an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, you will hand draw a
political map of your story’s country of origin. You will include the country’s capital, major cities, &
major waterways. You will use at least two different colors on your map. See textbook pages
RA2-RA3 for an example of a detailed political map.
4. Flag from Country of Origin: On an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, you will recreate the current flag
from your country. You will color and add any details necessary to your flag. Then place it on the
front of your poster board.
5. Life Lesson: You will handwrite or type the life lesson contained within your story. This should
be no longer than a small paragraph (10 sentences or less) in length. You may use different sized
font, handwriting, or colored paper etc. Then place it on the front of your poster board.
6. Expanded Illustration: On an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, you will recreate an important illustration
from your story. Then place it on the front of your poster board.
7. Folktale, Myth, or Legend Title & Author’s Name: This must be large and placed neatly on
the front of your poster board. Please include the author’s name. It may be typed, handwritten, or
place your original idea here.
8. Timeline of Current Events: Please include 3 recent (year 2000 and beyond) & important
current events from your country of origin. Place and label them on a timeline you create for your
poster. Be prepared to elaborate on them if questioned.
9. Country Sport or Game: Add the following onto your poster - name one popular sport or game
played in your country of origin. Briefly describe how it is played (a paragraph worth of info).
Please add a photo of people playing the sport or game. Warning - Soccer is not allowed!
10. Other Important Information:
Poster-Presentation Times: You will need to practice your presentation as part of your
homework. It should last between 8 and 10 minutes. Please note presentations time may have an
impact on your grade.
